Okay so iv neve read a Pashto book, how exactly does that make me non Pashto lol. I'm born in the west and was taught how to read Arabic letters along time ago but iv pretty much forgotten how to read (though I hope to get back into it). The fact that you've still not made the thread shows your scared of being proven wrong.

Badlun is right, Pashtuns of KPK dont speak Pashto with Urdu accent, they rather speak urdu with thick Pashto accent. They dont speak at the tip of their tongue, you are making it up. Dont tell me you are carrying bias similar to that of Kushan prince, or may be you have not much interacted with Pashtuns of Pakistan let alone those of KPK thats why the ignorance.

And its true, mostly Hindkis speak mixture Urdu and Pashto. Go to a village in KPk and speak your Pashto with them, you will be humbled. The educated ones out of habit use some english and some times urdu words but they do know the Pashto words for it. Our usage of some loanwords like "Ji" or "teek taak" is not exatcly hybridization of Pashto with Urdu. You people also use loanwords from Dari like "Tashakur"

On the other hand the Afghan-Pashtuns , that appear on Afghan Tv channels, may of them speak Pashto in very strong Dari accent. @marwat have you noticed it it?

• I agree,in Pakistan not just in pashtun areas but the pashtuns living even in the southern punjab or interior sindh will not give up pashto for punjabi or saraiki but in Afghanistan,Pashtuns very easily give up Pashto for dari or mix it too often.

Khushal is making it up,not just pashtun but many non pashto in kpk now speak pashto.example if dera ismail khan where many saraiki people can speak pashto though one can easily identify that they are not native to pashto language.

You spend all day talking trash online to prove your identity.

If you truly cared about your language and your identy, you wouldn't need strangers approval on some online forum. You'd just carry on with your life and you would focus on learning your own language by reading books.

i don't know. i don't watch tv. but most people of KP speak pashto in pure accent. one can easily distinguish between different dialect for a reason. i once came through a family video where a woman speak very urduish pashto with her child. i will post it if i found it.
also there is a very huge influx of urdu word due to the mentality of our brown father because for them pashto looks sub standard and urdu is a sign of being professional and modern since the guys in TV speak it. most pashtun parent speak in urdu with their kids.
who know may be those living in dha have now changed their accent too.

• Dude, why should I be scared? Am not the one who needs to prove anything. My Pashto is to good, I get paid for it. I've been working as a linguist for 4 years.

stop hating yourself and admit it. You are in an identity crisis. This is why you felt as if I was talking about you when in fact I was just making a general observation.

Kala Angraiz doesnt consider urdu to be the language of the elite, he tries to adopt English. Its English which is considered sign of being educated, professional and modern in Pakistan. "Most" Pashtun parents do not speak urdu with their kids, thats what Punjabi parents of urban centers do.

Judging from cloths and accent, the video is most probably of family settled outside pakhtunkhwa e.g Pindi, Islamabad, Lahore etc

Those people you see on Afghan TV are either farsiwan speaking pashto or Kabuli pashtuns. Pashto and Farsi has many Arabic loan words. Tashukur has Arabic roots not Farsi. Tashakur is mostly used in Kabul and Shomali but not in South and East.

This is an afghan jounalist interviewing Shahid Afridi. Notice the difference in accents and how much urdu and english words shahid uses and how much non pashtun words the afghan interviewer uses:

Lol so you judged us on the basis of Shahid Afridi's Pashto. Cant blame you. This video has been shared on this very forum. And every one's reaction was same, Afridi's Pashto is messed up. Dont assume Afridis speak this type of incorrect and mix Pashto, the accent is like that though. You are forgetting that Afridi has grown up in Karachi among Urdu speakers and same seemed to be the case with the video marwat shared.

The Pashtuns that have settled in Panjab have completely assimilated and accepted the Panjabi identity notable ones like Imran Khan, Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi, Abdul Sattar Khan Niazi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Junaid Khan and there are large communities that have settled there. There are many Pashtun communities in Panjab that speak Saraiki.

In Afghanistan, the pashtuns that have Persianized are in Kabul and provinces like Farah and some in Herat. The pashtuns in Kunduz and Mazar have kept their pashto language and they are deep in Farsi territory.

I already know that KPK and FATA are pure pashto speaking people but so is Southern and Eastern Afghanistan. But paki pashtuns are much more urduized and angloized since the paki media is much stronger and is accessible to most of paki people while the afghan media is not as accessible to the rural people and this is the reason that paki people get easily brainwashed by what ever narrative the paki gov portrays and it is much harder to brain wash the afghans since it is harder to get them the gov sponsored message since they don't have access to media.

So then why do you criticize the pashtun that grew up with farsiwan.
