He wants to know what he should take to be a pure Mathematician. Learn to read English please.

Real Analysis is Theoretical Calculus; it is proving properties of integration/derivation actually exist. This is useful in understanding anything because the essential tools are applying properties of Real Valued Functions and Real Number Line regarding closure/openness, continuity are important in Mathematical Physics, supremum, infimum, limit superior, limit inferior, triangle inequality, Schwarz Inequality, Cauchy Inequality, distance formula, epsilon delta proofs. Differential Geometry and Partial differential Equations (existence and uniqueness)

Vector Calculus is just dealing with Stokes Theorem, Greens Theorem Divergence Theorem in N-Dimensions.

What I am surprised is that you have not had differential equations yet? I mean it's not necessary but generally everyone should have some background in it. Maybe another distinction between American Pedagogy and British Pedagogy .

It seems like with your skill set you have more of a Number Theory/Cryptography Background if you really want to be a pure Mathematician

Focus on Analysis oriented courses; Real Analysis, Complex Variables, Mathematical Statistics, ODE/Partial Differential Equations, Vector Calculus. Topology, Modern Geometry, Abstract Algebra.

all of this is pretty much applied math, decision analysis is something mainly for Operations Researchers/Actuaries.
should i of had complex in first year?

and thats very good info thanks for that :D

also differential equations yh man i done that already that was part of our calc dun 2nd order aswell i liked it solving to find the unknowns etc was fun!

and yh i looked at decision and that a lot of trees looked like my business a level modal wont be doing that or stats so i guess left with the other 3?

vector probability??????? There is a probability vector; but this is not a subject, but that's an advanced topic, so you clearly wouldn't learn that as a beginner, so you clearly just looking up random words and pretending to know about them.

sorry, but you sound like a moron; ......please let people who know what they're talking about speak in this thread.

hahaha no in America Complex Variables is a Senior level course; lol That's why I was a bit perplexed that you're having it second year. In fact I only learned Complex Analysis in graduate school.

oh right, the reason for that might be is that there are about 8 different maths degrees here u can do where you can combine maths with stats, economics, business etc

the degree i am doing is just pure maths on it own, even for first year 3 of the modals i was doing were only for my course where as the other maths degrees wernt going to move into them until 2nd year so that is the reason why i think we might be having that in 2nd year

Ah ok I forgot that some curricula don't have a specific course for ODE's but they tack it on to Calculus.

PDE's is more complicated but same concepts.

We have specialized courses for ODE and PDE; because there is such heavy emphasis in Existence and Uniqueness Theorem; Euler's Method. etc.

It can have applications to many things; but I think the concentration is the Simplex Method?

You dull i said vector, probabillity.linear algebra.
What is the relation between crossproduct and the lenght of the normal vector which is orthogonal to the two other vectors?

done partial differential equations aswell also was part of calc and all the theroems such as euler theorem, Euclid's algorithm, fermats little theorme, phi function etc covered all of that

i specialy liked my ciphers modal with all the cracking and the rsa algorithm with the diffie hellman key exchange was very intresting but i wont be offered much more on it until 3rd year i think not to sure though.

What kind of project? Did you apply some operations research methods? By the way, in MIT, they are developing a new optimization method with sound theory/maths as one friend told me. I am not sure whether a graduate curriculum is available in that or not.

I think some kind of applied math degree would be nice. If you are too brainy, pure maths can also be an option.

i can send you my final project if you would like to see? i have to warn you its about 20 pages long.

edit: its already been marked etc so as long as you dont upload it aha :P jkeee

TSP is obviously an optimization problem---a hard one---just wanted to know which method(s) did you apply ---found any improved solution?

At RR you are again twisting my son
i was reffering to the route as following
                              first derivate is
                              f(t)=at+v0
                              And second derivate is
                              f(t)=a·1+0
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Euler's Method is different than Euler's Theorem. Euler's Theorem deals with the toitient function. Euler's Method is a means of numerically approximating a solution to an ODE/PDE. That's taught in ODE/PDE
