Completely agree. It's sad that the old fashioned ways of barber shops are dying out. It's rare that you actually find a young barber these days who is skilled with straight razor usage. They even use safety razors to shave people's heads now, which takes like half an hour. With a straight razor, a barber can remove all the hair in like 5 minutes.

Personally, I think that straight razors cause much less skin irritation, they're no doubt better for the environment (no more throwing away safety razors after 3 uses), and you acquire a real skill by using them. Eventually, you can shave with just about anything (i.e. a hunting knife).

Say you go to a stinky, smelly place (deeran e.g. right in front of your house) after a while you smell nothing, and you totally ignore it while a new person unaccustomed to it is holding his nose. We my friend no longer hold our noses to salafi stench, we just pass by.

Its also more to do with changing health concerns, the straight razor is an expensive item and public law requires proper sanitization (literally autoclave) for repeated use. Some bypass this by using a straight razor with a disposible blade (usually a single blade razor blade cut in half). Still it is not 100% sanitized and I would not recommend using it in a barber shop in a third world country where they spread hepatitis and HIV amongst other diseases. Get your own and take it with you to a barber, never use his even in USA if he is a old barber.

must admit your example was incredibly lame indeed, and as for the last part what the hell has salafi got to do with this, were talking about islam here no1 mentioned salafi or brelvi. how dare you in a pashtun forum full of pukhtana compare stinky smelly places with the quran and hadith (which is simply what the person posted)

sangar khan is following the old jewish traditions where the shaiving of beard is haram.

LOL, how dare I do what? I was merely describing a well known mechanism in the brain called "tolerance". Which is by the way deactivated in the salafi mutants, but that is another digression.
Anyways, as they say in pashto, 'pa shara ki sa sharam dhay" one can discuss what ever, chill bro (akhi i.e.)

i am chiled akhi.. Although i shouldnt be when theres people that think that disrespecting hadiths is called tolerance.. Theres a difference in tolerance and changing islam..i havnt got a beard but iv got the decencey to admit its wrong, i'm not going to be a d**k and say its fine to shave just because i do it.

I guess anyone in your view that doesnt believe in western morals and adheres to the quran and practices of islam is automatically branded a salafi, wahabe etc, if your muslim dont be ashamed of your religion just because having a beard is not rated with your western friends.

that saying doesnt imply that theres no sharam in ANYTHING, imaandari kee da torl na ghat sharam deh che khpal deen lah izzat na laroo, zaan ta ba sanga goru che da ungrezan pa nang bandi khpal rasool khaberi sharoo..lol. i'm not arguing with you by the way i just disagree with your attitude towards certain things.

Did you eat choolee with too much marchakay or what (by the way if you did I am jeolous, I have been craving the damn thing for ages). I did not say this or that was tolerance, tolerance in neuroscience (habituation) is what happens when a stimulus is presented over and over again, the brain ignores it. So if you go to a stinky place and live in it you will not smell anything, secondary to tolerance. I am least concerned if you are tolerant of this or that, that is not what I wrote.
and secondly my post was directed to sangar who is a salafi, we all know that, you are new so now you know.

Shamaar- I thought you were a girl too! I would be terrified to use that on my legs. Waxing is good enough for me. =)
"Do not lose hope in adversity and complain that God singled you out for punishment, remitting others guilty of worse sins. Your present state could very well be His intent to elevate your spiritual station. Or He could just be testing your faith. Everyday that you persevere, you grow closer to perfection. Thus, your present despair may be the beginning of an infinite blessing". - Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

Did you know that many (Muslim) women who shave all of the rest of their body believe that waxing/threading/plucking your eyebrows is haraam? I fail to understand why eyebrow hair removal is haraam but not the rest of the body, including "mustache" and arms ... especially for those women who don't have a problem showing their arms and face.

Anyway, I'm starting to realize that women who DON'T shave are the strongest women out there, especially those who don't shave their legs and still show them. I've met a couple, and each time I see them, I can't help but get inspiration from them. I mean, daaayammm!!!! And they walk around just like you and me. I love how they defy norms that force many women to do something against their will. Oh, yes- I believe shaving isn't something that all women wanna do but do it because if they don't, they'll be declared masculine by so-called feminine women and so-called masculine men. Watch some girls coming here and saying, "NO!!! I do it OUT OF CHOICE, okay?! No one MAKES me!" lol ... well, if that's the case, we clearly have a lot to learn because it's not that anyone puts a gun at your head and says, "SHAVE NOW!!!" Just ask yourself what'll happen and what'll you feel like if you didn't shave for two months. This is regardless of whether you shave or not. Or for those women who shape their eyebrows and don't believe it's haraam, ask yourself what'll happen and what the response from others will be if you DON'T shape your eyebrows for a couple of weeks.

@ Eyeliner: If shaving is done only for purposes that have to do with hygiene, then what about men? Why don't men shave their legs/armpits/arms/etc. too, or at least remove their body hair otherwise? Or do men and women have different requirements for how to keep a clean and healthy body with regards to the removal of hair?

                            Good luck finding a man.

As for me, don't worry (Though if you read carefully, you'd notice something that you clearly didn't notice the first time.)
If you are interested in finding a man to settle down with in future I advice not to go around telling you admire women who do not remove hair from their body.
