I don't know about the bio-oil and whether it has any clinical proof of affecting scars (perhaps the moisture acquired and the massage involved in application would make a difference), but a doctor would recommend silicone scar sheets for hypertrophic (raised) scars. Whatever option you go with, I hope it works out for you. Also try to apply a triple antibiotic ointment to prevent infection as that can result in undesirable healing which may lead to scarring.
