Bengal_Tiger, thanks for sharing those pictures. Lovely pictures. It is pleasing to see Bangladesh is making progress. I saw a report which said that Bangladesh economy in 2050 is likely to be bigger than Australia economy although economists sometimes are inclined to speculation. But the road to prosperity is not a straight rising path. There are ups and downs and it takes decades to reach a threshold point where the line from developing to developed is crossed. Besides societies have the inherent tendency to catch up with the most advanced one. Furthermore as much an unskilled uneducated population can be a burden, skilled and educated population is a blessing and asset with the potential to generate a vibrant and big domestic economic market.
With the expansion of the middle class a lot of demand is generated both in terms of goods and services which creates self-sustaining economic cycle.
I think the economies in Asia have already been set forth into motion; the only thing for them to do is to catch speed and momentum. Some will do that sooner; some later depending on the political and cultural conditions of each country.
Whenever someone starts a thread like this they will try to show the nice things and not the horrible things.
If I was from Brazil or India I would show the nice things of that country e.g. the beautiful beaches, Taj Mahal, waterfalls etc and not the slums and favellas.
The same with this thread. Bangladesh does have a lot of problems and it is no paradise but in no way is it the miseryhole portrayed in the western media.
Once again thanks for your comments.
