The "Free Syrian" Army are already responsible for the deaths of over 7,500 Syrian solders and civilians. The Kurds and Israelis both have designs upon Syria and a serious attempt is being made to fragment the country.Originally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View PostWhat does that have to do with this? This forum didn't exist 5 years ago; you're um grasping for straws.
Of course the Free Syrian Army aren't peaceful demonstrators; Aren't you paying attention? They GREW as a consequence of attacks ON demonstrators, they're a reaction TO murder. Apparently that isn't a concern for you of course, since you seem to think Murderers are victims and victims are terrorists.
As Randolph said, when the Free Syrian Army kills 10,000 of their own people THEN you can call them terrorists; as for now that is Assad's cross to bear.
However Syrian security so far seemingly have the upper hand and it's telling that the overwhelmingly majority of the Syrian Army are siding with Assad and have stood by him for over a year now.
Here are your foreign Salafi heros!

Why do you think that the Israelis and Turks are arming your Islamist cronies? Could it be that they know that this dog will never dare to bite the hand of it's master.

The problem is that they have never been to Afghansitan and they dont really know how people live and think there. They are looking at the Afghan society through distorted lenses and sees that society like the american society except that they are poor and uneducated. They cant imagine a wild wild west where there is no law and the people prefer it that way. The Afghans want to deal with disputes the way they have dealt with disputes for thousands of years and anyone that wants to change it is going to confront as Ghaznavi says "Nang and namos, the right and left fist."Originally posted by BarakzaiAbdali View PostYou guys are really making this so complex that I am lost in the who backs who are this point.
If I could just get an explanation from you guys on how this support works and how you guys believe it influences Afghan autonomy and how you guys think the Quetta shura functions, it would be helpful for my understanding.

We know whats up because it is like a mathematical formula. Common interests trumps all because survival is at stake. Pakistans, the Sunni Arab block survival depends on the success of the Taliban. Does that mean the TAliban are slaves of these regimes, not really because the Taliban gave sanctions to groups that wanted to destroy these same regimes. Why would slaves feed those that would want to destroy their master. The TAliban are well aware that those regimes need them more than they need those regimes.
Here is the Russian position from the horses mouth said by Boris Gromov, governor of the Moscow region, commanded the 40th Soviet Army in Afghanistan. Dmitry Rogozin is Russia’s ambassador to NATO.
That is the Russian position. We are ready to help NATO implement its U.N. Security Council mandate in Afghanistan. We are utterly dissatisfied with the mood of capitulation at NATO headquarters, be it under the cover of “humanistic pacifism” or pragmatism.
We insist that NATO troops stay in the country until the necessary conditions are provided to establish stable local authorities capable of independently deterring radical forces and controlling the country. That is why we are helping NATO by providing transit for goods and training personnel for Afghanistan, including anti-narcotics officers.
You make no sense. The Taliban regularly exagerate about how many Americans they kill during attacks, should we beleive that also.
Show me real evidence.
No that is just Gromov paying lip service, Russia does this all the time, why would Taliban exaggerate about Russia but not exaggerate about Pakistan, the U.S. are STILL not all over that Don't make naive conclusions. Real Evidence is Taliban's own admission, the Taliban have nothing to lose saying they're funded by Russia, Russia has a LOT to lose by saying they fund the Taliban, they want to be duplicitous.

that's all just sophistry, truths are objective sir; sure I may not rely on the whole "My Kaka used to say _________" but that' not hard to conclude. I mean I remember reading someone saying that the Taliban represent tribal customs of the Pashtuns, that same person said the Pashtuns needed someone to "civilize" the Tribal Pashtuns; two very contradictory statements. Yea this is called propaganda, the Free Syrian Army unequivocally denounce any sort of civilian attacks
Updated 17.15: The Free Syrian Army (FSA) has denied "any connection or involvement" with two deadly bombings in Syria's second largest city Aleppo.
Reports on the French news channel FRANCE 24 said that Colonel Arif Hamood of the FSA had claimed responsibility for the two huge blasts on Friday morning.
However a message posted on the group's Facebook site denied they had planted the bombs, which killed at least two dozen people.
"The Free Syrian Army denies any connection or involvement with the bombing in Aleppo," the statement said.
The statement made no specific reference to the comments attributed to Hamood by FRANCE 24.
Syrian state television says 28 people died in the explosions with at least 235 wounded, which targeted the Military Security Branch and headquarters of law enforcement forces in the city.
Rather Al Nusrah a totally different group claimed responsibility;
This claim that it was Free Syrian Army is just propaganda to discredit the syrian resistance against their tyranny. even then, the Overwhelming majority of Syrian civilian deaths are at the hands of the Syrian Government.A previously unknown jihadist group has claimed responsibility for suicide bombings in the Syrian capital and the second city Aleppo that killed dozens earlier this year, in a video seen by AFP Wednesday.
The group calling itself Al-Nusra Front to Protect the Levant said it carried out the attacks in Damascus and Aleppo “to avenge the people of Homs,” besieged by regime forces.
The 45-minute video posted on jihadist forums showed footage of the destruction caused by the January 6 car attack in Damascus that killed 26 people, and by a twin suicide car bombing in Aleppo on February 10 that killed 28 people.
No Salafi Heroes; just pathetic excuses by tyrannic Assad to justify his atrocities.Last edited by RevolutionThroughReason; 03-24-2012, 04:36 AM.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
What do the Russians have to lose? Real evidence is the fact that Russia is allowing transit routes, provide training for the ANA and voting for UN resolutions supporting the US in Afghanistan.Originally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View PostNo that is just Gromov paying lip service, Russia does this all the time, why would Taliban exaggerate about Russia but not exaggerate about Pakistan, the U.S. are STILL not all over that Don't make naive conclusions. I said the Taliban RESPECT Tribal customs and acknowledge the independent nature of the Tribes.
I also said that the "Dabai" of the Talib is the only way to civilize of what is happening in Afghanistan right now and that is pure corruption which I referred to as pure "washiyat."
not contradictory at all.

The person was implying that the Taliban were there to civilize the unruly Pashtuns from their tribal ways, not exactly respecting tribal customs. Numerous instances where they didn't, perhaps for valid reasons but at the same time a few good things does not autoweigh their negatives.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
Russia to aid NATO withdrawal in Afghanistan
Updated: 2012-02-09 17:13
(Xinhua)
MOSCOW - Russia would allow NATO to use its territory to withdraw international troops from Afghanistan, the French Ambassador to Moscow said Thursday.
"We have agreed about transit through Russian territory of the troops to be withdrawn from Afghanistan," Ambassador Jean de Gliniasty told the local Kommersant daily.
This follows a statement Wednesday by Russian Foreign Minster Sergei Lavrov that Russia and NATO had discussed additional routes for cargo transport via Russian territory to supply international forces in Afghanistan.
Lavrov said the transit would be conducted by rail and air using an airfield in the city of Ulyanovsk in Central Russia.
"We are guided by the desire to assist the international forces to execute their mandate in full," Lavrov said.
The US Defense Ministry has said it plans to complete combat operations in Afghanistan in 2013 and to start withdrawal in 2014.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
