First of all Syrians are not Arabs, Syrians have mixed blood ranging from Greek to Armenian plus they have one of the highest levels of R1b hence the reason why they have fair skin and European features unlike the "real" arabs from Saudi Arabia, gulf arab states and Kuwait/yemen.

Syrians like the berbars of North Africa and the Eypet they have been Arabised, let me repeat that ARABISED.

Karachi I support Russia because its the regional power which you will need to accept, having a warm relationship with them means better trade, better opportunities and a good obstacle towards American backed Islamist trash plauging our region.

You never noticed where most of the Islamists live, get support and shift their families, yes directly to the west exactly the WEST.

Where does BarakzaiAbdali and Afghanistan2010 live????? do they live in a Muslim country or Saudi Arabia? no they live in the West, if they were living in Russia, noone would tolarate them because Russia finds supporting Islamists as distasteful hence the reason why they banned Wahabism etc etc etc etc.

Sorry for using their names just wanted to make my point.

I love Russia the same way you love Saudi Arabia whom you pay large amounts of money through tourist etc but then get terrorism in return on the money.

    Gracias

To be honest dont get me wrong, I am not advocating that Afghanistan should be in some future empire of Russia, I think Russia should avoid that backward place that just sucks you in like a black hole, instead whole of Central Asia should become part of the EuroAsian union with Russia to defence ourselves from the Atlanticism and bedionism from the Islamic world.

Unless the Nationalist parties in Pashtun regions would join I am very very happy if they did but Afghanistan will always remain a buffer state between Pakistan and Iran and will always always remain unstable in conflict between themselves and a head ache for anyone trying to develop and help the people.

To be honest personally if that happens hopefully America woud leave the region with Pakistan removed from the world atlas.

    Thanks

^ Why you are alway insulting Afghanistan? What is wrong whith you? If peace come to Afghanistan you will see how progressive we can be, but you will be not welcomed becuase you are a Paki, and always will be.
Russians are no better than US, they don't support Islamists becuase all the Islamic countries are really close to them, thats way they don't do that, it's not becuase they detest them, Russian detest nothing, they will like everything if its in there benefit.

You're either completely clueless or deliberately lending fallacy. Arab is not a genetic or racial group, but an ethnolinguistic affliation, while it is true they were "Arabized" so were the Gulf region and Yemen as Arabic gradually replaced preceding ethnolinguial constructs, it just happened sooner for for the Peninsula region than others.

The Syrian regime resolutely identify as Arab, check out their Official Name

Syria (/ˈsɪriə/ ( listen) sirr-ee-ə; Arabic: سورية‎ Sūriyya or سوريا Sūryā; Syriac: ܣܘܪܝܐ; Kurdish: Sûrî), officially the Syrian Arab Republic (Arabic: الجمهورية العربية السورية‎ al-Jumhūriyyah al-‘Arabīyah as-Sūriyyah Arabic pronunciation (help·info)), is a country in Western Asia, bordering Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea to the West, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest.
Their government is ruled by the Arab Nationalist Ba'ath Party, and Bashar Al Assad is head of that party.

Bashar Hafez al-Assad (Arabic: بشار حافظ الأسد‎, Baššār al-ʾAsad ‎‎‎Arabic pronunciation: [bæʃˈʃɑːɾɪlˈʔæsæd])‎; born 11 September 1965) is the current President of Syria and Regional Secretary of the Syrian-led branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. His father Hafez al-Assad ruled Syria for 29 years until his death in 2000. Al-Assad was elected in 2000 and 2007, unopposed each time.[2][3] During the Syrian uprising, some demonstrators have called for President al-Assad's resignation.
the Ba'ath Party are Pan-Arabists/Arab Nationalists who adopt a Socialistic Framework

The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party (Arabic: حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي Hizb Al-Ba'ath Al-'Arabi Al-Ishtiraki‎) was a political party founded in Syria by Michel Aflaq, Salah al-Din al-Bitar and associates of Zaki al-Arsuzi. The party espoused Ba'athism, an ideology mixing Arab nationalist, pan-Arabism, Arab socialist and anti-imperialist interests. Ba'athism calls for the renaissance or resurrection and unification of the Arab world into a single state. Its motto—"Unity, Liberty, Socialism" (wahda, hurriya, ishtirakiya)—refers to Arab unity, and freedom from non-Arab control and interference.

Your Beloved Russians have also taken to funding the Taliban insurgency not long ago

RUSSIA is funding the Taliban’s guerrilla war against the American-backed government of Afghanistan, leaders of the fundamentalist group have claimed.

In a move that carries echoes of attempts by the United States to undermine Soviet forces during their occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s, Russian intelligence is now providing covert backing to a resurgent Taliban, senior figures in the extreme Islamic movement have alleged.

The alarming claim will prove acutely embarrassing to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has been trying to rebuild relations with the US in the wake of the acrimonious split between the two countries over Iraq.

Engineer Hamidullah, the Taliban’s former deputy chief of finance, says the Taliban now receive as much funding as they did when Osama bin Laden bank-rolled them before September 11.

"There are some countries that are against the policies of the US and the United Nations, and they support the guerrillas. The most important role belongs to Russia, Iran and Pakistan," he said.
Not to sound snarky, but I don't know what planet you live on, but it is certainly not Earth. Your Support for the Syrian regime and its backers such as the Russians is in effect supporting Pan Arabism and Arab Nationalism. The Russians themselves are not Anti-Islamist, they're anti anything that uproots their status quo, they too will fund and support Religious Extremism if it helps their goals as they are doing with the Taliban.

So this forum is even more sick than I first thought was possible.

Soldat_Amir is spot on. Russia is the good guy here.

Our stupid American government have not yet learned from the failed Libya "mission" where they removed a secular leader and imposed an Islamic government full of former Al Qaada members! Well done Obama, well done my son.

Bashir al-Assad is doing the right job preventing Arab islamists and extremists to transform a secular state to an Islamic state.

Unfortunately the stupid Arabs from Iraq, especially the Sunni ones, are joining forces together with their Wahhabi Saudi Arab brothers and tribes in arms to help the so-called "Free Syrian Army" (Fake Syrian "Army") as I call them to.

They are all responsible for thousands of civilian deaths and for attacking peaceful Shia Muslims in Syria and Iraq.

I hope that Russia and the REAL Syrian army will never surrender and finish their job of eliminating the Arab Islamists from Wahhabi Iraq and Saudi Arabia. This will happen mark my words.

Lets be clear, the whole Iranian regime is now in question as it looks as if Iran supports the death of the majority of Syrians who are Sunni Muslim. On one hand he is championing the protests and opposition in places like Bahrain, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, and on the other hand he does a 360 and supports the despotic government of Assad. What a contradiction. Paralleling this is the illegal Saudi government, equal in their disgrace, who do the exact opposite, champion the Syrian cause, but are opposed to all the others throughout the region. The vast majority of Muslims are Sunni. Sunni Islam is the order of the region. Sharia state is propping up throughout that area based on Sunni Islam, not Shiite Islam. Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Syria, Jordan, and so on and so forth. Assad will run from Syria since he is a coward educated in the West, and has no stomach to stay back like Qaddafi or Saddam Era of dictators is at its end

your views are as backwards as our resident atheists here. the secularist regime of syria is on life support by an islamic regime in tehran. you seem to have a chip on your shoulder because of the iran-iraq war, which was started by a secular arab, saddam hussein.

lol @ some persian nationalists thinking his people have more legitimacy in syria than arabs themselves do.

while assad is downloading western songs on his itunes, the real syrians are standing up and dying proudly for their cause.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I found Persia's statements rather perplexing but at the same time appears to be trolling. As Randolph said, the Iranian ISLAMIST regime which is responsible for backing and arming the Taliban are now involved in meddling in Syria. Why should This troll have any say on an a Syrian ARAB republics internal workings? Why is a so called Persian Nationalist supporting an ARAB Nationalist regime in the first place? The Syrian Government isn't shy about their boasting of Arab Nationalism. Doesn't matter if they're Arabized or not, They consider themselves Arabs, even Iraq is Arabized techically.

The Russians too are supporting the Taliban by the way, perhaps to a lesser degree but it is there.

None the less the real Syrians are the ones who are rising up against the Government, we know this because the Assad government started the hostility by murdering protesters, this kills any legitimacy he may have claimed to have.

                    Ludicrous,
Neither the russians nor the Iranians support the taliban. views clash. The russians would love to see the americans succeed while the iranians want an NA governmnet in place but the US out. The only convient allies the taliban would have are the sunni arab block, pakistan, and china. India, russia, Iran would be more comforatble with the NA.

If Assad's Baathists regime falls, then Syria will very likely go the same way as Iraq. Which why the Shia and Christian Syrians support al-Assad. Sunni Islamists have no business meddling in the internal affairs of Syria and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that no good is going to come out of a civil war.

"Sunni Islamists" as you put it. Have been in Syria even before Modern Syria came into existence. Of course they have a business there, they're already apart of the country, as are all the other minorities Christians, Shi'a or otherwise, not to mention they're the majority of Syria. The Christians do not support Al-Assad and the alleged Shi'a groups identify themselves as Sunni, perhaps to offset political rivalry. Perhaps Assad should have thought about this before killing protesters

When you deal with Russia, NATO or the United States, "Clashing views" isn't the concern, but immediate geopolitical benefits are. What did the Mujahideen of the 80's ideologically have in common with the U.S. in the 80's? Pretty much nothing, except political interests. The Russians wouldn't want the U.S. to succeed on grounds of replacing U.S. Hegemony. Iran and Russia both support the Taliban at this juncture, of course they won't state so overtly as this would create backlash. This is nothing new.

The Syrian regime of Bashar al assad has lost it's legitimacy... any government does when it begins the wholesale slaughter of its people. Bashar is keen to maintain power. Look what it has done to him.

Despicable... killing his own people and blaming it on foreign interference.

THe majahadeen of the 80's and the US both wanted to route communism whom the US viewed as the greatest threat to the "free world." Their views on this matter did not clash. Today you have the Russians and the Americans both wanting to route out the Islamists becasue to the americans communism is no longer a threat, the greater evil.

The Russians would rather have American hegemony than have Islamists at its southern border. Most of those chechens were training in Afghansitan during Taliban rule. The russians viewed the chechen seperatist movement as the greatest threat to the russian federation, they viewed it as precedance for other people to start their own seperatist movements and eventually lead to the breakup of the russian federation. As you can see the Chechen rebellion has subsided since the Taliban have been marginalized in Afghanistan and they thank the Americans for that. Dont you remember when Bush said "Putin is guy you want in a foxhole with you." Russian have been supporting the NA since the civil war days and so has Iran. Iran has many Karzai administration officials on the payroll.

I remember when the soldiers were marching toward Khost and some helicopters flew toward us and one of the gunners started to shoot on them and then you hear the fizzing of an Rpg 7 hitting one of them , and downing it.
