then you must be circumcised, right?

SInce you are an expert on Islam, could you also provide evidence where in Quran or in an authentic hadith it is said that women should be mutilated?

^ Read carefully next time, will ya, Sangar? I never said Islam says it SHOULD take place. I said the four schools of thought consider it honorable and encourage it.

I just wonder why we're always picking and choosing when it comes to what the four major scholars say about different issues. Is it based on time and society? Do we do what they encourage and support if we live in their time or in a society where it's okay? Like in parts of Africa and the Middle East, it's okay to do it ... so would we do it, too?

Well if there is no evidence in QUran or sahih hadith for something that is practiced by Muslims, then your Kaafir friend Gulalai was lying. And you were just cheerleading for her.

piercing is not an alteration of the body. Therefore piercing in women's ears for ornaments is allowed.

About the ears, that's good, because earrings are a respectable enhancement and have been worn for thousands of years and much appreciated by women.

The rest of this disgusting stuff must have been inspired by the forces of darkness.
It's painful to look at the Yahoo Tattoo Girl when signing into email. What a blight upon civilization. Apparently a really high percentage of American women have these tattoos.

                  Tongue piercing
Is It possible for a woman to use the Tongue piercing ?.

                  Praise be to Allaah.
It is permissible for a woman to pierce her ears even though that involves pain, for the purpose of wearing earrings, because Allaah has permitted women to adorn themselves with gold and silver and other kinds of jewellery, and women customarily wear earrings.
As for piercing the tongue in order to wear jewellery in it, this is something that is strange and off-putting to those of sound taste. Some kaafir and immoral women are well known for that in the west, and it is one of the causes for the spread of cancer of the tongue, gum disease and loss of teeth among those women, so it is not permissible to do it.
A study undertaken by researchers in Spain has shown that some people have resorted to piercing their tongues or other inner parts of their mouths in order to wear jewellery or studs, and this may lead to health complications affecting the mouth and teeth.
The researchers, from a University in Spain undertook a study of ninety-eight cases where the tongue or some inner part of the mouth was pierced, with the aim of evaluating the health complications that resulted from piercing these tissues.
The results of the study that were published in the Journal of Adolescent Health in November of this year indicate that in 23.5 percent of all cases there was wearing away of gum tissue around the teeth, especially in the eyeteeth of the lower jaw.
It also showed that 13.3 percent of cases suffered from tooth decay. The researchers pointed out that it is essential to warn people of the consequences of piercing any part of the mouth for the purpose of wearing studs, before they go ahead with that.
The American Association of Dental Health Workers also warn people of the consequences of having piercings done in different parts of the mouth, such as the tongue and lips, which may lead to loss of teeth because of the wearing away of gum tissue. In addition to that, piercing the tongue may, according to their report, lead to nerve loss in the affected area, and may even lead in some cases to stroke and blood infections.
We asked a well known university professor in oral surgery and dentistry, and he told us that he has seen that in Germany, where some immoral girls do that, and he said that this is one of the causes of cancer.
As it is proven that this action is harmful and causes these diseases, it is not permissible to do it, because Allaah has forbidden a person to do anything by means of which he harms himself.
                  And Allaah knows best.

                    Here's something interesting.

Question: Islamic ruling on female circumcision

Wa`alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
                    [...]
Before delving deep into the question of female circumcision, we would like to make it clear that "female circumcision" means removing the prepuce of the clitoris, not the clitoris itself.

As for the Shari`ah stance on female circumcision, it’s a controversial issue among the Muslim scholars and even doctors.

In response to the question, the eminent Muslim scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states:
Actually, this is a controversial issue among jurists and even among doctors. It has sparked off fierce debate in Egypt whereby scholars and doctors are split into proponents and opponents.

However, the most moderate opinion and the most likely one to be correct is in favor of practicing circumcision in the moderate Islamic way indicated in some of the Prophet's hadiths – even though such hadiths are not confirmed to be authentic. It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a midwife: "Reduce the size of the clitoris but do not exceed the limit, for that is better for her health and is preferred by husbands". The hadith indicates that circumcision is better for a woman's health and it enhances her conjugal relation with her husband. It’s noteworthy that the Prophet's saying "do not exceed the limit" means do not totally remove the clitoris.

Actually, Muslim countries differ over the issue of female circumcision; some countries sanction it whereas others do not. Anyhow, it is not obligatory, whoever finds it serving the interest of his daughters should do it, and I personally support this under the current circumstances in the modern world. But whoever chooses not to do it is not considered to have committed a sin for it is mainly meant to dignify women as held by scholars.

Well ... it is said to be honorable for women indeed. Why and how? Because it ensures that the female will not lose her virginity before marriage. And when she DOES lose it to her husband, it's the most painful thing in the world, as are menstruation and child labor.

The hadiths are somehow said to "not verified as authentic..."... but who decides this? They were authentic during the time of the four Imaams and were until recent decades. Why are all of a sudden they not authentic?

Bla bla bla, Yousef al Qardawi's opinion is only relevant if it is supported by strong evidence. But as you have quoted, the evidence is weak.

As long as there is no ayat of quran or an authentic hadith in support of any practice it doesn't matter what an Egyptian Imam says. After all, female circumsiion is a cultural thing in North East Africa.
