My grave worshipper father was nice to peaple and helped them, still I consider some of his values as archiac and primitive and some as exemplary. I have let go of his archiac values regarding women and religion and yet maintained his dignified image in my mind. Would have been difficult to do if he was a cut throat zealot who had slaughtered other pashtuns, in that case I would have had to let him go completely. For no earthly good can come out of clinging to that.

Our pakhtu has much to offer to gel and guide us through these tough times. There is much we can keep and cherish and much we need to let go. If it does not serve the people of our land let it go , if it does keep it. Simple as that, no need to get the complicated equation of heaven in the equation. That is where deciet starts.

[QUOTE=Sangar;114471]Bla bla bla typical emotional rant from the pashtun nationalist camp.

You have dodged my challenges. And in return you rant like that other dude MasloomYarMasud.

Is this the best you Pashtun Nationalist can come up with?[/QUOTE

What is the challange? Is it to prove that there are homosexuals amongst the wahabis

Going by statistics of molestation in madrassas and other wise in the society.

If you went to a madrassah you have a high chance of being molested.

If you are poor you risk is higher than if you come from a prosperous family.

Combining the two, you will still find thousands of poor madrassah educated wahabi trained adults in pashtoon land. Ask 10 such peaple and if half dont tell you of a homosexual experience than come back and let us know. i have not video taped any confesssions but the following is a good start, do your google search from there yourself

Look, Sangra! Don't make rash generalizations. Everyone here is different from the other. Among Pashtun nationalists you will see many hardcore religious poeple but Pashtun nationalism in Lar Pakhtunkhwa revolves round our rights and our status in Pakistan and anyone who agrees with this agenda doesn't care what the religious beliefs of others in his groups are. Their common center is their struggle for the rights of Pashtun nation.

O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

I beg to differ. I do not believe 'dear' was used as a metaphor here, unless, of course, you were trying to mock me or talk to me in a dismissive tone which I am sure you weren't. =)

Having a library full of Hafiz, Rumi, Bedil, Rahman, Browning, Kipling, T S Eliot, Gibran etc etc, I believe in my humble and lowly abode of existence you will find some capacity of comprehension even if not that great!

Infact, you might even find a few poems back from days of my blossoming youth.

I am walking away from city lights
In search of wonder like nomads
            For simplicity I strive
            O what of this world
            And its deceitful ornaments
Where minds are imprisoned in darkness
And pens ink without rational thought
Seven seas can not quench my thirst
Greed please! don't hold me back
I am seeking a divine drop

But of course, when I discovered how useless poetry was, I left it for hopeless romantics like you
I was not referring to you in particular as I said "If you take taverns etc. literally" which you don't - so there is absolutely no need for you to get defensive as it is evident from your very own and beautiful work that you are familiar with the figurative meaning of these terms.

Much rather was I referring to those individuals amongst us who have not read Rumi or even engaged themselves with such poetry in general and condemn poetry as useless because some rather narrow-minded authorities have labeled it "wrong" and - to top it all off - let those define them whom they condemn. So in essence, it is bad for Rumi to be supposedly "gay" yet it is perfectly acceptable for those "intellectuals" whom some of us listen to to be gay and it does not disqualify them as neutral and credible sources - while it disqualifies Rumi as a Muslim?!

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..
Za ba da Sahra warnakam da Iran pa Golestan,
Dalta za yao & yakta yam, halta zar zma pa Shaan
            .

Sangar by the way you will get a kick out of this.

Here is the account on Wikipedia of another poet.
Shah Hussain (1538–1599) was a Punjabi Sufi poet who is regarded as a Sufi saint. He was the son of Sheikh Usman, a weaver, and belonged to the Dhudha clan of Rajputs. He was born in Lahore (present-day Pakistan). He is considered a pioneer of the Kafi form of Punjabi poetry.
Shah Hussain's love for a Brahmin boy called "Madho" or "Madho Lal" is famous, and they are often referred to as a single person with the composite name of "Madho Lal Hussain". Madho's tomb lies next to Hussain's in the shrine.
All this proves that even a pedophile can hide behind religion and the stupid masses will flock around them in hordes.

exploitation in Sufi shrines or wahabi madrassahs are both bad and should be brought to the open and addressed. Just like in the west where such practices in catholic institutions are being addressed.

BTW in Rumi's case shams u tabriz was not a boy but an adult
