  • Why did a Homosexual Philosopher Love Sufism?

As salaamu aleikoum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

French homosexual Philosopher, Michel Foucault loved Sufism.

Can de Sufis explain why Homosexuals tend to love Sufism?

One thing has nothing to do with the other. Its like saying because Hitler was a vegetarian, all vegetarians are anti semite lunatics.

Now ask about the fascination of homosexuallity and sunni islam and one can venture out into more fun stuff. One wonders, if you have sex with a women out of wedlock, you get sangsar, but when the mullah gets touchy feely with a pupil, he gets a little tap on the wrists.

In Hanafi (the dominent sect of sunni islam) there is limited enforced punishment of homosexuallity. To the point that the chief qazi in bagdad kept a whole hostel of young boys at one time. The whole elite division of the ottomans rejoiced in homosexuallity which was the underlying binding thread.

The other sects have equally irrational stands on sex so lets not take the misquided assumption that I am defending some subset of Islam.

The actions of individuals do NOT constitute for methodology or religion as a whole.
A Mulla molesting his pupils or a Qazi keeping a hostel of boys does not undermine the strict ruling of Islam about homosexuality.

Sufis and homos have had a long relation, starting from Jalaludding Rumi/Balkhi who is said to have been in love with his teacher Shams e Tabrez.

      Regards,

        Regards,
To call rumi's love for shams e tabrez homosexuality is to call any fathers love for his child homosexuality. What rumi saw in Shams e tabrez cannot be understood by your gory sick intellect.

The permissive attitude towards homosexuality is not a sufi tradition. It is however a side effect of the segregation enforced in Islam.

It is a simple math equation in the end. Population is 50-50% male and female. Now if one male has 14 wifes, and others have 4 each with hordes of concubines like in the prophet times, just 4-5 such men can suck up the women supply. The poor men have to be sent to jehad or allowed to entertain them selves to keep the rich and their harams intact.

        Think about it.

Begham Jana your intellectual elaboration will be appreciated and it might help enlighten my "dark intellect"

Neighter did muhammad cut the moon in half. They are all mythic renditions of fertile imaginations.

But rumi was a great poet, homosexual or otherwise.

PS: sorry wrora, your insult was not intended, I meant to say that calling rumi's love of shams-e-tabrez in insulting light comes from such intelluct. Something done by peaple much before you and I were born. Even Rumi's son subscribed to this version and had shams killed.

                  Insults continue.

I remember sitting on the lap of my dad. I did not feel a stiffy - just love.

I want to know why Sufism facinates homosexual Western intellectuals!

We should cherish roomi, for he was born in afghanistan. We dont have much else to show.

Arab idols are not going to save us.

did your dad also write poems about kissing your lips and cuddling you? I don't think so.

So why did Rumi write such peotry about SHams?

to be hoest I have seen more homosexuals in a wahabi ijtimah than at any sufi shrine, where they are plenty as well. Its endemic in islamic culture not limited to any one sect. Its a product of segregation not sufi ideology or anything else.

Some Persian words are hard to translate. If we start translating Pashto to English we will all be considered homosexual by foreigners. Imagine translating words like zargaya etc.

The fact is that sodomy and homosexuality is very common in our society.

But holding hands is not gay.

Well if you have any evidence to provide that "wahabi ijtimah" is homosexual, then please share it with us.

Homosexuality is not limited to segregated societies.

The reason why people resort ot homosexuality is because of mental illness, of because society prevents poor people from getting married.
