  • Ziarat or Shrines

    Salamoona everyone

After the tawiz topic i came up with shrine or ziarat

In afghanistan we got alot of shrines and graves where people specially women go and pray make dua etc

They fasten handkercheifs (dismal) take some salt from that ziarat, take some soil, take a piece of cloth or even little wood from shrine and bring it home and respect it alot. whenever they want they go and kiss it and ask for something

we in prayer say Eya ka na3bodo wa eiya kanasta3ein ( we do ebadat to u and ask from you).. when we say this in our prayers or monz everyday then y do we go to shrines and pray there?
I know some say tawasul (wasila) is not forbidden in islam but tawasul doesnt say u kiss the stones of that shrine or do sajda or pray 2 raka nafl there

I have seen people in ghazni who go to shrines do pray 2 rakat nafl inside the shrine and laterz go and kiss the shrine or qabr.

Yes we have shrines in many countries which ppl respect alot and we should do too . they belong to prophets, sahaba karam and very good muslim scholars because of whom today we have Islam.

    lets debate............

    Is it wrong or not?
Arent the women prohabbited from going to shrines and graves?

Again, if you are going to visit a grave of someone where you expect that the dead person is going to help you you commit the exact same sin as you would do when you use an amulet to rely on an object and seek help from an object.

How can a dead person or an object help you. If a person is dead, then he is dead. To go around and tell people that the dead person is close to Allah and he will intercede between you and allah, you are commint the same sin the Mushrikeen of Mekkah were commiting.

The mushrikeen in Mekkah did not believe that Uzza, Hubal, laat Manaat and other idols were gods. They believed that those idols interceded for them. They all believed in Allah but they believed that Hubal, Uzza, Laat & manaat were their intercessors.

So when Muslims claim that Ghaus Azam or any other pir or faqir or Sufi can intercede for them they are actually immitating the MUshrikeen.

How come the Qur'an describes them as mushrikeen and Allah curses them and how come Muslims still think that when they commit the same sin they are any better?

Grave-worshiping is Shirk and who-ever preaches shirk and condones shirk has declared war against Allah and his religion and is an open enemy of Islam.

it's inspiring and so relaxing to be in a place as such but i don't believe in it having superficial powers of any type. i went to mazar e sharif two years ago and i saw people banging their heads on walls and crawling under a huge pit...and crying for help....i cried too but only because every body else was so sad.
my mom (a well educated woman ) got me a taweez for my temper at the time but i refuse to wear it.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

You haven't asked about a particular thing, brother. What exactly are you asking about?

Tawassul is permissible. Visiting graves is permissible, but one must act with proper adab there. Some people touch and kiss the graves of the pious. They do this out of love and reverence. It is not shirk, but it is better not to do so according to some scholars.

This is what I call shoving your head in the sand.

How can you say that it is not shirk if people visit graves and ask dead people to solve their problems or to become their "advocates" at the throne of allah? This is exactly what the mushrikeen in Mekkah did with Uzza, Hubal, Laat & Manaat.

They wanted those idols to intercede for them. And tawassul as it is practiced by jaahil muslims is synonymous to shirk.

First and foremost, brother, it is improper and disrespectful to compare the righteous dwellers of those graves to the idols of the pagans. Second, the Qur'an itself refutes the pagan Arabs, who claimed they believed in Allah and used the idols as intermediaries. They lied. They held their idols in greater esteem. Their idols were greater to them than Allah Most High. The Qur'an proves this against them. This is why Allah Most High tells the believers not to curse the pagans' gods lest the pagans in turn curse Allah. Would they do such a thing if they truly believed in Allah and used the idols only as intermediaries?

Tawassul (supplicating Allah through an intermediary) is permissible according to all four madhhabs. It was taught by the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) himself.

Again, you are saying this or that is permissible. Yet you are shoving your head in the sand. You know very well that people worship the men burried on those graves. You know very well that people visit those graves and expect dead people to solve their problems.

You know very well that Ghaus Azam means. How can you say that they do not hold those dead people in high esteem? How can you deny that calling a dead person Ghaus Azam (the great helper) is not shirk?

And this is typical Sufi method of trying to accuse people of being disrespectful to "awliya" to divert and digress.

The people who are burried in those graves are DEAD. Since when is confirming a fact disrespectful? And If Sufis and their followers treat those graves as mushrikeen treated their idosl, how is this my fault for making an observation?

It is those who worship dead people who are not only disrespectful but commit the worst sin which is shirk. And if you are going to play the old Sufi game of diverting and digressing and mis-interpreting peoples statement as in waving a bloody shirt, then you have another think coming. Because I have plenty of experience with such activities. So I advice you not to go down that road.

Women are not suppose to visit graves because they might burst in tears. And as you might know, in many places in Afghanistan & Pashtunkhwa "zyarats" are places where people date with each other and places where young men and women commit acts of zina.

It is permissible for women to visit graves.

Prostrating towards a grave is not permissible. However, it seems most of the time other things, like lowering the head in du`a or kissing the grave, are mistaken by onlookers to be prostration.

Most shrines are mosques with the grave inside it. It is permissible to pray there. The prayer area is usually separate from the grave.

Tawassul (supplicating through the righteous) is permissible. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) himself taught the du`a of tawassul.
