Muslims putting Christmas lights?

I have noticed over the last few days that some muslim familes I know are putting Christmas lights on their homes, is this really allowed? what should I say to them?

our neighbor turned their backyard in to a graveyard on halloween. the same family put up lights twice a year but on eids. i think putting up lights on eid is a good idea.

I personally havent seen a Muslim family do it with my own eyes. However, you should approach them and ask what is the need to do it?
