Its called social integration. Nothing wrong with it. As a matter of fact, wouldnt it be nice to see Christians and Jews celebrate eid with other Muslims.
Nothing wrong with inter faith dialogue or interaction.
Its called being a 21st century modern society, whereby tolerance and social interaction is encouraged.
If those people who oppose Muslims putting Christmas lights up, then rest assured, I really doubt there was electricity during Arabia AD.
As a matter of fact, I will put lights up too, as most people living on my street are Christians, the same way I give them food on "eid".

It is called jahiliya. The reason why the muslim world is in such a state of poverty and underdevelopment.
As a matter of fact, it is an abhorrent behaviour.
It is forbidden for christians to celebrate christmas because of it's pagan roots.
Not mentionning muslims.
The Messenger of Allah SWT (pbuh) used to say in his khutbahs (sermons): "The truest of speech is the Book of Allah, the best guidance is that of Muhammad and the worst of things are those which are newly invented. Every newly-invented thing is a bid‘ah, every bid‘ah is a going astray, and every going astray will end in the Fire of Hell." (Reported by al-Nisaa’i, may Allaah SWT have mercy on him, in al-Sunan, Kitaab salaat al-‘eidayn, no. 1560).Last edited by Al Hanif; 11-28-2011, 11:59 AM.

i disagree. i think a muslim celebrating chrismas with lights is an expired member of what ever cuture/nation/identity he is. what are you celebrating with christmas lights - christmas? why? because you are socially integrated? are you celebrating with them? amongst them? i see, you are socially integrated.Originally posted by Soldat_Amir View PostIts called social integration. soldat i think rab al kareem made us in tribes so we may identify each other (i am paraphrasing), know who is who. as for integrating, that's getting close to a precipice called assimilation.
when i lived in germany and UK, i got along with eurpean for a purpose when the alternative was unviable, not integrated or assimilated.
next thing is children will want chrismas tree in the house and go tricking and treating, and making pumkin heads and all that foreign stuff . . .what will you do then?
wrora, i ran away as soon as i could from these insidious influences that creep in and next thing is we can't see the harm anymore.

Why would that be an issue? Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday. It may once have been one, but it is far more about getting together with family and friends and expressing gratitude for all the things they have done for you.Originally posted by Manzareh View Posti bet Muslims in america have big feasts on thanks giving, but thats another story-------------------------------------------------

There is absolutely no reason for a Muslim to celebrate Christmas or any holiday foreign to Islam. Integration or assimilation as they call it in the West is certainly a disease to Muslims. Assimilation, by their definition, is cultural and spiritual death upon the Muslim. It usually begins with one's appearance, dressing outwardly to accomodate their pathetic society. Eventually apathy will consume the person and they will begin missing salah without a care, consuming alcohol and all manner of haram things, concerning themselves with worldly concepts more than their deen, celebrating Halloween, Christmas and ultimately drowning in the kuffar society. When I'm in the West, I've seen people of likely Islamic background stare at me in disbelief when they see a man in turban, shalwar, etc. Perhaps they forget that we are commanded to differentiate ourselves in appearance from the kuffar. The root of assimilation is weakness and desire to be accepted by the host society. To be honest, I have no concern for Westerner's feelings towards Muslims in their countries that refuse to assimilate. As far as I'm concerned, it's as the English expression goes, the chickens are coming home to roost.
