i am too lazy to participate in such activities but i am not bothered by afghans putting up christmas lights or celebrating other holidays for the heck of it as long as they are as dedicated to their own religion and traditions if not more.

i don't expect anyone's faith being so weak as to be drawn to sins by putting up a plastic tree in their living room and i find people with such inflexible views of others quite disappointing. if my non muslim friend wants to join me at the mosque and i understand that she has it in her to respect the environment then she is most welcome. similarly if i am invited over for lunch or dinner by the same friend whose way of living does not clash with my religion then i will genuinely consider it first and then give her a reply.
i don't glare at my neighbors just because they are not muslims and i would most definitely not enjoy being glared at or referred to as a dirty infidel by them just because i am not a christian or a hindu... it has nothing to do with my desire for wanting to fit in with them and everything to do with me wanting to give out the impression of being a civil human being regardless of where i came from or what the majority of the west expects from someone of my skin color or religious background.
there is no point of praying five times a day or memorizing the quraan if you can't be bothered with treating human beings with the same amount of respect as you would like to be treated with.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.
