  • Stoning to Death

So this video was aired on Ariana Afghanistan two weeks back (I had lost my sleep for days after watching it) and some of the comments in defence of this disgusting 'punishment' coming from the callers absolutely shocked me! So I want to know from you guys, do two people, who love each other and are single deserve this kind of barbarity? And what disgust me the most is that these couple's parents themselves had informed the 'Taliban' about their children! 'Tuff' on such parents!

^ Ignore the web name, even I couldn't stop shaking my head after reading some comments. My point is the video.

I am afraid it was a wrong punishment. Should they not have been given lashes ?
As "stone to death" punishment is only for those who are married and do adultery.
I am not very clear on this ...

        It is the wrong punishment.

Sahih International: The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

If they loved eachother they would get married.
If they were not allowed to be married then it is their parents' or whoever prohibited the marriage who is at fault but that does not mean that their fornication was justified at all.

This is actually the result of the incompetency of the people who don't have complete knowledge about their religions.
Regarding your second part of the post, Look we are the slaves of Allah we have to meet him one day and we have to account for all of our deeds that we do here. So Allah has send a book and a prophet for us to follow. We have to follow our prophet and our final book. If we do not follow our book then we are the one who will be in big loss on the day of judgement and that will be eternal.
Like when you get a driving licence, you are given a manual book in which you are explained the laws and do's and don'ts. If you follow those rules then you will drive safely but if you don't follow that book then you will make a mistake and consequently an accident to death.

Punishment for adultery for fornication is not only nothing uncommon for Pashtuns,it is actually a rule of Pashtunwali. Traditionally instead of being stoned they're hacked to death by a Tura.

In Kabul during the 1840's; many women of kabul had often engaged in relations with British soldiers and the males of Kabul asked Wazir Akbar Khan to punish them for their lewdness, and he did. The Islamic Law of Punishment is that fornicators are lashed and married adulterers are stoned. Although without an Islamic Law or social organizational/checks and balance system capital penalty can be administered in both cases.

Honestly what difference is the method of penalty, the end result and the purpose is the same. I would say stoning is at least in so much as a penalty is concerned, is a bit more humane than sword hacking , the traditional Pashtun way of dealing with adulterers/fornicators.

For those of you who have become so Whitewashed and Farangified that you have lost your spine or sense of standards and feel horrified about penalizing adultery/fornication. If you can't imagine Pashtuns doing such things Pre-Taliban/Pre-Mujahideen era then there's evidence which proves the contrary.

Pashtunwali :: Khyber.ORG This is from a Pashtunwali website if you're in doubt.

For those of you who are exploiting the Civil Liberties/Personal Freedom argument. Adultery and Fornication have nothing to do with civil liberties or freedom. Immoral choices doesn't make things morally valid just because it's done by adults. The fact they're adults make their crimes even more egregious. It's not only God's business, but society's concern when two adults perform adultery or fornication; their behaviors are a pollution to society and they lead to social detriment. The penalizing of such behaviors is necessary to regulate the balance of society.

Actually they have not yet submitted to Allah's will. The day they come to know about their creator, they will never even open their mouths.

to Answer the thread starter's question

Even though I'm in conflict with most Taliban policies; on issues of sexual morality and it's regulation; I'm in agreement.

Whether they do or do not is not my concern, my concern is How detrimental or destructive someone's choices are. Their belief in God is something they must decide inside themselves and is outside my jurisdiction.

What is evident is these people have lost their sense of standards and are using freedom as a scapegoat for immorality. This concerns me greatly.

Yes true but these people's planning and thinking is for a short period of time. They think about only this world and worldly things. They skip the thought of a life which has no end. They think of this world is everything for them.
