Khurasan means the land of rising sun. During the early Islamic Era this term was coined by Arabs to refer to Afghanistan, Samarkand/Bukhara/Uzbekistan and the surrounding area.

By the original definition of this directional name it makes more sense to use it for China, Mongolia, Japan etc.

I am very well aware of Khorasan and it's history. I just have something about the term Khorasan. Nowadays it's associated with the enemies of Afghanistan.
