• Khalilzad Claims Taliban Discussed a 3 Month Ceasefire but Taliban Deny

Taliban Accepts They Cannot Win By Warfare: Khalilzad | TOLOnews

According to Khalilzad, Taliban representatives in Abu Dhabi said they would share the issue of a three-month ceasefire with their leaders. “We talked about a ceasefire. The Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates’ suggestion was that negotiations should be held on all issues for three months and a ceasefire should be announced during the negotiations,” Khalilzad said.
Just a moment...

Talks in Abu Dhabi are taking place with the United States about ending the occupation and American intervention. Nothing about an interim government, ceasefire, elections nor any other internal issue is being discussed, rather the main topic is the American occupation.
Khalilzad is a snake and an enemy of Afghanistan (and the Muslim world). I don’t know who’s actually lying, but the idiot shouldn’t have publicly contradicted the Taliban after they already released a statement denying that they had discussed any ceasefire. If the Taliban start to suspect that America isn’t negotiating in good faith, they’ll drop the talks and we’ll be back to square one.

Trump should look for someone else to handle the negotiations, I doubt the Taliban (or even people in the Afghan government) will trust a wannabe European neocon like Khalilzad.

For those unaware, Khalilzad was heavily involved in the invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq, and he’s married to a white rat-lady that uses overtly racist language about Afghan and Muslim refugees. Oh, and his sons have western names, and use their mom’s last name instead of Khalilzad lol. What a cuck.

Subhanallah, as I was writing this post this news came out:

U.S. considers significant Afghanistan troop withdrawal: officials | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump is considering significantly drawing down troops from Afghanistan, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Thursday, in the latest sign his patience is thinning both with America’s longest war and overseas military interventions, generally.

FILE PHOTO: U.S. troops patrol at an Afghan National Army (ANA) Base in Logar province, Afghanistan August 7, 2018. REUTERS/Omar Sobhani
Shortly after the officials spoke, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said that he was quitting so that Trump could have a Pentagon chief more aligned with the president’s views.

Mattis has argued for maintaining a strong U.S. military presence in Afghanistan to bolster diplomatic peace efforts. He also opposed the U.S. troop withdrawal from Syria that Trump announced on Wednesday, a move that has bewildered allies and triggered harsh reaction from Republican allies in Congress.

The Pentagon declined comment on Afghanistan.

Garrett Marquis, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said that the White House was not going to comment “on future strategic developments.”

The U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said thousands of the 14,000 troops could be sent home as a result of the deliberations, the disclosure of which could undermine peace efforts with the Taliban.

Trump privately has been grousing about U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan, telling an ally as recently as Wednesday words to the effect of, “What are we doing there. We’ve been there all these years.”

Outrage builds over Trump plan to leave Syria
The source, who asked to remain unidentified, said it appeared the president “has lost all patience” with the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan.

More than 2,400 U.S. forces have died in the 17-year-old war in Afghanistan, and Pentagon officials have repeatedly warned that a precipitous exit would allow militants to develop new plots on America like the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks that plunged the United States into an era of open-ended warfare.

Trump last year approved an increase in U.S. troops but acknowledged that he did so reluctantly. U.S. officials have told Reuters that Trump has been keen to bring the Afghan conflict to a close.

The Taliban insurgency has strengthened its grip over the past three years, with the government in Kabul controlling just 56 percent of Afghanistan, down from 72 percent in 2015, a U.S. government report showed.

Late last month, at least 22 Afghan police were killed in a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan’s western province of Farah, adding to the growing casualty toll on Afghan security forces.

Earlier this week, U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Taliban representatives held talks in Abu Dhabi on a deal that would end the war. Officials from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also took part.

The Saudi ambassador to Washington, Khalid bin Salman, tweeted on Thursday that the discussions had been productive and would bring “very positive results by the beginning of next year.”

But a former senior State Department official familiar with the issue said that the Taliban representatives rejected a proposal by Khalilzad for a ceasefire and demanded that the talks focus on a U.S. withdrawal. The news that a drawdown was under consideration could be intended as a gesture to the insurgents, the official said.

Looks like the Taliban were telling the truth, and it also looks like the war may be over soon Inshallah.

Jim “shooting Afghans is fun” Mattis is on the way out too. All the hawks are exiting and Trump is finally standing up to the military-industrial complex as he originally promised.

He might be using this as leverage for getting money for the wall.
He is learning that his signature on bills is power that he can use against the MIC and the SSIC, against all spending. His new Chief of Staff is Mic Mulvaney who is from the freedom caucus wing of the GOP who are anti spending and pro small government.

Majority of American-Pashtun families are like that. Exceptions are there but those are individuals.

Its the other way around. Maybe in 3 or 4 generations, that could be the case. But that's spreading. I see most youth in Peshawar and Kabul worse than most Pashtun youth in US. We know what America is but people in Peshawar and Kabul worship the idea of America in their mind. Its just like these desi wanna be afghans worship this idea of unconquerable light skinned Afghans. The reality is far different from whats in your mind.

There are always going to be a few sell outs, but don't generalize.

I mean in California everyone for the most part is "modern."

East Coast like Boston and New York, Pashtuns are moderate to conservative IMO but thats my opinion based on small trips.

Maybe Admin Khan can tell us about NYC.

Khalilzad is personally a sell out piece of **** but despite that, he knows Afghanistan and is close to the major players and has been dealing with Afghan circles since the 80s. His credentials suit him well for the role he is in now. I doubt even the Taliban would want to deal with someone other than him.

I mean first of all the US and the Taliban are military enemies, the Talibs are ruled by some shadow person and the US by and unstable person. Considering where we are now, contradicting press releases shouldnt derail a real peace process, and if they do then this process wasn’t going to work at all anyways.

These are not even negotiations at this point, these are still talks about talks. The Taliban have a track record of denying what is the truth so I am actually inclined to believe him. It stands to reason that there would be no reason for him to lie about a ceasefire suggestion while the Taliban don’t want to make it seem like they are at a point of considering this without concessions from the US.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I would not say the majority ....but sure they exist, .....there are some Pashtun families I've heard of that are proud that their son joined the U.S. Military and such. It's kind of gross.

Truth be told Afghans in America are a mess but for different reasons ....

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Judging from cousins and Kaliwal that are in the West vs the ones in Peshawar and Kabul. The ones in the West are better when it comes to work ethic and Adab.

I don’t know about the rest of the country but in California, there were an abundance of Afghans who signed up for what were called “rotations.”

Basically they paid a bunch of idiots to look and dress the part in simulated combat zones as actors while US troops trained to navigate the local population. Young and old, they lined up for whatever cash they got to train these people to occupy their country. I know most people have their price but goddamn was their price low.

The Taliban don't really have the power to declare a ceasefire. The rank and file wont listen since their #1 demand was for foreign forces to leave first. Declaring a cease fire would create more disunity than already exists plus it is not in their interests to declare a ceasefire since they have the leverage and are taking more and more territory. They know the Trump administration is tired of this war and they know they can not fund it forever.
Khalilzad is trying to portray the message that he is making progress to both Americans and Afghans, that talking to the Taliban is working because Trump is under pressure from the MIC to stop talking, that talking to them is useless.
His defense secretary already resigned because he tweeted troop reduction from Afghanistan and complete pullout from Syria without consulting anyone.

He's like "I'm the commander in chief, if you don't do what I say, I will tweet my commands and then you have to do it."

Lot of the Kandahari families in Texas, like the Dallas/Ft Worth area brag about their son being a U.S. soldier and put up pictures of them in the Desert Camo ....cringeworthy moments for sure

I had to bite my tongue when I witnessed that.

I doubt it would be in the rest of the country. The Main Marine training base is in California.
Are you sure they were all Afghan? They have a lot of Iranians there and they will do anything for money.
