Religion (values) are strong enough to unite. Most of the "original caliphates" stood for centuries, more than any secular democracy. Also religion is an universal force unlike nationalism which is extremely divisive and based on bigotry.

At the end of the day we need to realize that all political systems are doomed to fail and collapse eventually. Its the natural order. Human beings, societies, nations and civs, are born, rise, fall and eventually die. No matter what, human beings jsut can not admit that they will eventually perish and become dust into history.
Caliphates were arguably ethno-states or nation-state as well, Arab dominance over non-Arabs. That alone made sure it would always collapse sooner or later.

Not disagreeing with religion being useful as a unitarian force. A common Creator has potential to unite all, even different species across different galaxies.

Again you are making things up brother.
Some other monarchies maybe, such as zahir Shah,Shah shuja, and many other rulers such as Karzai and ghani.
I never said it's common, people were brainwashed by the Durranis for centuries but if we look at history he had questionable character

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

That might be true for the Umayyad Caliphate which was Arab-centric an extremely biased and discriminatory toward non Arabs and non Muslims. Thats why there was a revolution started in eastern Iranian lands and led by non Arab forces of Abu Muslim Khorasani. Abbasids changed everything. They moved and founded their capital to Iraq, closer to Iranian influence. They started marrying Iranian women off. They even adopted this absurd Sassanian practice of "divinizing the king" and so on. Non Arabs became the main human force of the empire.

Same thing happened to other Caliphates such as the Umayyad of Cordoba, the Fatimids and the Ottomans. All of them were multicultural, multireligious and multiethnic. So religion is indeed a powerful tool to unify people.

From an Indian pov, I Think Pashtuns of Afghanistan should join Pakistan. Pakistan Is a country in the rise. The Pakistani Pashtuns have a higher living standards than anyone in Afghanistan.

Hazara, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmens are Central Asians through and through. None of those groups are tribal societies. Pashtuns have more in common with Punjabis in Pakistan who are also organized as a tribal society. I dont know what Pashtuns are doing with those groups honestly. You guys should just merge with Pakistan. Win win for everyone.
Creation of Pakistan was meant to keep the south and central Asian in continuous state of war...this is the reason Pakistan need terrorist organization in order to utilize power. The issue of Durand, Kashmir and China/India border is all meant to keep the fire burning.
India and Pakistan are not functioning states there are active hot secessionist movement that kills tens of people each months in both countries. Afghanistan had much functioning and strong state but the freaking commies turn us into battle ground of super power.
The problem is lack of identity of Paki state which need religious extremist in order to survive...specially for Pashtun. This is why Tablighi Jamahat has its HQ in Lahore near oldest brothel in region Hari Mandi but they are all active in Pashtuns land.

Afghanistan has to unite around Sunni Islam that is the only cure for ethnocentrism, that is the main unifying factor for 90% of Afghans.
