There is an idiot Punjabi "Think Thank" on defence.pk (by name of Rescue Ranger) from Rawal Pindi, a retired Army soldier, who got offended when i called him a typical Punjabi (he was posting negative stereotypes and generalizations about Pakhtuns)..........He claimed that he is a descendant of 'royal' Durrani clan and that he is superior to some ganwar (village-idiot) like me in status and he possess a shajra (lineage-table).....i was of course not impressed and told him that he can shove that shajra up his ass. Other members were consoling him as if his mother has died. He cried to moderators and complained about my "racism"

Recently i saw that Indic again claiming to be Pathan, but this time a Niazi... cringe

Yes but they want to show that instead of twice , Pakistani Pashtuns are four or five times more numerous than Afghanistan's.

We have to keep in mind also 25% of KPK is non Pashtun as well. They also mention the over representation of Pashtuns in the army as if that makes it a good thing. The foot soldiers are are just cannon fodder, it is the top positions which really matter. How many COAS have been Pashtuns?
But Fact is there are more pashtuns in paskistan then Afghanistan and there life in paksitan is thousands times better then of Afghanistan...

General Tikka Khan , the butcher of Bnegalis, was a Punjabi Rajput (yes many Muslim Rajputs also use Khan surname e.g Aamir Khan the boxer).......Asad Durrani is from Punjab and cant utter a single word of Pashto but o.k you can call him Pathan....

There always used to be one or two Pashtun core commanders (there are more than dozen at a time) at a time but check the current list, not a single Pashtun lieutenant general under current COAS.....according to Najam Sethi, Army has decided that COAS will be from Punjab for years to come. Not only Pashtuns are distrusted but Mohajirs are also distrusted because of Musharaf. I have heard Pashtun officers in Army are not getting quickly promoted like Punjabis, could be just rumour but seems to me it is indeed the case....

My reply was in response to someone who was of the opinion that Pashtuns did not held a commanding position in PA, which the history of PA clearly negates..Pashtuns were several times...Now you are quoting Najam Sehti ..Please we all know Geo and Najam is always a sale out and agenda driven...
There are SOP for promotions every body has to clear that either Pakhtun or Punjabi,,Lt.General Tariq khan was one of candidate for COAS when RS was slected as a recent example..He was head FC cops all alone who is guarding Balochistan and KP borders..Is this some mistrust ?I hope you will be fair...and won't say him Kam-asal or anything else..W.r.t popluation Pakhtuns are fairly represented in every field in Paksitan..Mohajirs is not mistrusted or say sindhis ..It is traditional thing Potaharis and Pakhtuns will always prefer to join army in much bigger passion then Mohajir and Sindhis..I have come across many Mohajir and Sindhis who don't consider army as some noble thing while Pohtairs and pkahtuns are totally opposite..
On side note i would prefer if afghans from aghanistan show much concern for afghans in Afghanistan where they are subdue and neither economically nor else wise are protected ..

Recently turkish government handed over a newly found 18th century old pashto book manuscript to the government of Afghanistan. Should not turkish government have handed these manuscript to pakistan, Considering that there are more pashtun in Pakistan than Afghanistan, and turkey has much more friendly relation with pakistan ?

                      Marwat wrora,

Pashto, and Pashtuns from an outside global point of view is associated more with Afghanistan. Pashto is one of the national languages of Afghanistan as you know. Pakistan, despite possibly having more Pashtuns is associated with Urdu and anything else to do with India. This is not my opinion, but this is how it is..

This is how the world (that includes the Muslim world) sees things. If you live in the West you will realise and see this daily.

Me being a Pashtun born and raised in the West have seen plenty of difficulties between these groups, and with Urdu speakers.

When you cut out all the flak, you'll realise that there comes a point when these groups are just not compatible with Pashtuns. It's difficult to explain on the net. All these three ethnicities are peculiar in their own way.

I've heard from a very reliable source that Pakhtuns in the army who speak Pashto at home are viewed differently.
In the army you are told that your country is Pakistan and your language is Urdu. Period.

This is understandable. For the sake of national unity and coherence you can't have different ethnicities and different languages. No developed countries have multiple languages.

Khalak Pukhtana pa Afghanistan pejani. It's why I often tell white people that I'm ethnically Afghan before I tell them that I'm Pakistani. I don't want them to group me with Indics(I have no hate towards them, It's just that their ethnic groups are very different to mine).

Yeah but Pashtuns are definitely not giving up our culture and language. And I hope it stays that way(inshaallah).

I've had the exact same experience growing up in the west. Me and every other Pashtun I know that was born here associate more with Arabs than with Desis. Even the pashtuns who immigrated from Pakistan tend to associate with Arabs as much or more than Desis. You're right that when you come to the west and leave all the Pakistani nationalism, Pashtuns are very different from Desis(although that's not ignoring we do have some similarities with them). Although I would disagree with you in that I feel that Punjabis and Karachiwal are very compatible.

This is also why I feel Pashtun nationalism among Pakistani Pashtuns is more common in the west, especially for those of us born here. We've always felt alienated from other Pakistanis as we don't know their language(unlike our parents who learned it in school) and have a different culture. When me and my brother were younger we used to call non-Pashtun Pakistanis "Urdu people" and we used to classify them seperately. Due to all of this many of us wish for more autonomy for Pashtuns in Pakistan and support good relations with Afghanistan, some of us going so far to support seperatism.
