They have similar features and a repeating pool of faces. You base your knowledge from pics of old men from google whereas I live among Pashtuns and see them everywhere I go daily. I can tell you that stereotypes form for a reason...Pashtuns have been blessed as a very good-looking race. They are also very humble and have good character. This is a common for Pashtuns:

First guy looks Arab...he is not representative of Afghan Pashtuns at all...is he Paki Pashtun?

2nd guy looks (Eastern) Iranic....more common look among Pashtuns in Afghanistan.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

            • Pakistani Pashtuns? Many of them that I've seen are very Indic looking. I do agree with your point though. I've come across so many Poonjabis trying to claim that they somehow look different from Indians by using pictures of Pashtuns.

They could be hazarawal who speak pushto or awans and other punjabies who live in Pashtun areas.

I was of the impression Paki Pashtuns will look more mixed with Indics/Punjabis..
He is not Paki-Pashtun bull new race. He is from Khost. If you see panjabi-hindi looking "pashtuns" there is a chance that they are mix raced etc. Pashtuns did own Punjabis etc for a loooooooooooong time. You never know.
To Paradise, with Pakhto, I will go.

                      • Samandri, some people look at the kharian of peshawar or other cities in KPK and think that's how all pashtuns in Pakistan look. Although skin colour can vary among Pashtuns, the pashtuns of deserts and plains tend to be darker than the mountainous ones due to sun exposure and higher temperatures. Some people here have not been to Afghanistan and Pakistan and have no idea what they are talking about. All their info is based on watching online videos and internet forums.

                        • My experience of afghans is half and half. Half look very Indic and half look middle eastern/central Asian/different.

The people who try to hone in some substantial difference between Lar or Bar Pashtuns, are not Pashtuns themselves

This is why they attach themselves with European Racist ideologies because they are outsiders trying to sway Pashtuns in their corner

                              • As a Pakistani Punjabi I don't think there's much difference between Pashtuns from our side and over the other. I think Southern Pashtuns have their own look, Pashtuns from Chagai and Nushki are more like the Pashtuns of Helmand and Kandahar, whereas northern Pashtuns have more of a Kashmiri/Kalash type look. As always, people from the South tender to be darker than the ones in the north, as is the same with the Baloch when you compare the facial characteristics of Bugti tribesmen with Makrani or coastal Baloch people.

What's more interesting for me as a Punjabi is... how do Pashtuns from each country view each other? For us it's our older generations who may hate Sikhs because of the plundering and pillaging of Muslims in Lehnda Punjab, but nowadays literally no one cares about **** that happened in '47.
