It's well known that Afghanistan statics are under reported. To report it one actually need to have proper law enforcement agencies, sorry Taliban doesn't count. Yep, and it is a problem "primarily in the north of Afghanistan" according to CNN. The other documentaries about it have also concentrated on Tajiks. In Tajik culture, it is more open and celebrated--the kids actually dress up as females, wear makeup, etc. In Pashtun culture, it is considered shameful so the bad apples are secretive about it. No feminine clothes, etc. The term bacha bazi itself is Farsi.

Are the rates posted by that member reflecting ground realities? Does it make a difference? Will hiding behind statistics make the Americans or Western world view Afghans as less ignorant savages? Do they have a scale where Pakistanis are #1, but due to statistics, Afghans are #2, or vise versa?

If I can put it in layman's terms, I was trying to say that just because you're a little less ****ty, does not mean you are not ****ty.

From my vast experience, the only Afghans highly obsessed with skin color or desperately and ill-manneredly proving they are better than other ethnicities in the region are Tajiks, specifically the types that call themselves proud Khurasanis. As a Pakistani, you may know Pashtuns in person (from Pakistan or Afghanistan) and you can confirm that we don't have a habit of boasting in anyone's face that we are good-looking, or this or that. We are humble and not interested in that nonsense. It is only the people who feel insecure deep down and see similarities in themselves with those they dislike, so then they desperately want to dissociate themselves and be identified by the world as 'different'. In reality, the world doesn't even care. Another psychological motivation is not having much to hold onto or be proud of in terms of culture, history, accomplishments, etc. so such people will resort to putting other ethnicities down in order to elevate themselves, thereby boosting their false self-esteems.
