Actually its huge thing for Afghanistan, not for Pakistan. Afghan media and social media is really hyped and excited about the "war", are talking about Jiahad and sacrifices etc. Pakistani tv media has not covered it properly yet and social media is figuring out what the hell is going on. This Raheel Shareef is not the sort who will let go of this incident and boldness of Afghan forces. Now that Pakistani regular army is involved, ANA is going to taste the battle experience with a professional army form the first time......unfortunately ANA will suffer if they clashed with Pakistan army, i hope it doesnt come to that.

On contrary it is not huge thing for Afghanistan, but for Pakistan...notice General Sharif attended the funereal of Paki major killed in fighting and Nawas Sharif visited his family. It was only today that Afghanistan national security counsel issued a press report.

bottom line is that a proper border has to be established. afghans will benefit from it more than the pakistanies. as to where this border should be established, that is a matter that can be discussed by the leaders of both governments, not these men that are dying senselessly on both sides.
i just read somewhere that there has been a ceasefire and that now that gate is being constructed. under which circumstances, we don't know but if they had discussed that in the beginning rather than firing at each other, these men that died or got injured on both sides, would be alive today.
and i am sorry if this hurts anyone but whether pakistan is allowing terrorists or breeding terrorism, it's happening on the boundaries of where the durand line has been drawn up to a good portion of nangrahar and mainly because of this border issue. i know afghanistan has alot on it's plate at the moment but we need to prioritize. all the talibs and isis are hiding there. how can afghanistan or pakistan (even if they wanted to) control this area if wars are being declared on issues like this??

the subject of national security is a joke in afghanistan until the matter of the durand line conflict is resolved.

We in Afghanistan are not greedy we simply want what is rightful ours. Also suggest you check 90s news, going by memories then Taliban interior minister Mullah Abdul Razaq had visited the Mohmand region (same place Pakistan want to build gate and wall)and had issued Afghan ID to the people there. As I have mention before Mohmand area now controlled by Pakistan did not included in original Durand treaty but it was later in 1896-7 that British took it over—after rebellion of Mohmand tribes—check it out. The fact is Pakistan is the aggressor here who is not accepting Durand treaty. This drama is all political….Pakistan has been totally isolated by killing of Mullah Mansur near Quetta and the presence of Pakistani passport in which he was traveling…listen to Pakistani nonsense claims--- which sadly you are also repeating here (seriously we Pashtuns are our own worst enemy.) do you honestly think terrorist use border crossing to get in and out? Do you think all the weapons, bombs and rockets that come from Pakistan crosses into a border post under nose of Afghan border police? The issue here is not terrorist, I have mention it before---the head of sneaks are living in luxury inside Pakistani big cities—just like OBL..the issue is political---Pakistan knows for a fact that Afghanistan have objected and will object to building wall on Durand line….they are using this opportunity to easy the world pressure.

As per original durand line agreement people living within five miles of the line can travel freely both sides without showing any documents. there are 150000 pakistani skilled worker living inside Afghanistan and almost the same number of pakistani refugee in khost without any documents. pakistan is not honoring the durand line agreement itself. this torkham gate has nothing to do with preventing terrorist, there are 235 entry exit point along the durand line but custom and immigration procedure are only applicable to torkham and chaman. pakistan is actually trying to decide the fate of durand line unilaterally, i consider it a bluff on pakistan part, afghanistan should react aggressively to this incident otherwise pakistan will repeat this at every entry point, and border fencing will be coming after this.

Who you kidding, after almost mutiny in Paki Fuj during first Waziristan operation--Musharaf Time, most of Paki troops and almost all officers station in and around Durand line are non-pashtun. Do you think it is a coincidence the officer--Major that was killed was a Hazara from Quetta?

As I mention before it Pakistan that is not accepting the Durand line, no the other way around.
