  • Afghan and Pakistani border guards clash in Torkham

A heavy clash took place among the Afghan and Pakistani border guards in Torkham gate amid reports that the incident erupted over the installation of a gate by Pakistan.

Provincial governor’s spokesman in Nangarhar confirmed the incident but said further details regarding the clash would be released later.

Another local official however confirmed that the Afghan forces prevented the Pakistani border guards to install a gate in Torkham which resulted into the clash.

A commander of the Afghan Border Police in east Gen. Ayub Hussain Khel confirmed that the clashes erupted over the installation of a door by the Pakistani border guards.

He said an Afghan police lost his life and five others were wounded during the clash which lasted for several hours.

There are no reports regarding the exact number of Pakistani forces casualties as the officials have said two soldiers have sustained injuries.
This comes as tensions intensified among the Afghan and Pakistani border guards along Torkham in mid-May but the issue was resolved due to diplomatic intervention by the officials of the two countries.

Both the Afghan and Pakistani forces deployed additional troops and heavy military equipment including tanks due to the growing tensions.
The Torkham gate remained close for at least four days before the officials of the two countries agreed to end the deadlock.

Torkham border served as the entry point of many RAW-NDS trained terrorist into Pakistan without documents because Pakistan has more than 500 check posts across the border with Afghanistan and it is risky now to cross through that route.

Well it is also good for Afghanistan.Proper border management of People will reduce cross border between Pak-Afghanistan

I doubt Pakistan will stop this time..

Now the news about Angoor ada not being transferred to Afghanistan is also out.

Maybe Pakistan itself want to cut Afghanistan trade through pakistan and also limit the People movement.

Because Pashtunistan and Baluchistan belong both to us.

there is no point of this clash as it will not resolve anything in the long run. what it will do it intensify the hatred and resentment that already exists amongst the people of each side. don't behave like senseless animals.
if pakistan doesn't put a gate on, they can't control who comes in or out through that portal. how do you expect to hold them accountable for terrorists coming in or going out?? if they do install it, it's on what is considered the afghan land.
so instead of shooting each other, put pressure on your leaders, demand a decision to resolve the matter at it's root by solving the durand line problem. there is absolutely nothing to be proud of so stop cheering to kill each other.
establish a border like decent human beings and then seal it. hate each other from your own side of it and then watch for who violates the border rules.

Clashes on border between brotherly nations are waste of precious lifes. Border control is must for security but I'm afraid Afghanis are playing double game on behalf of their masters in Delhi. Their country is ****ed up so it doesn't effect them. Especially eastern Afghanistan is byond ****ed, Tajiks and Bhartis will not mind if both sides keep killing each other over petty issues.

Terrorist reside in big Pakistani city, Nasiruddin Haqqani was sent to hell by NDS inside Islamabad, he was cocky enough not to even have a bodyguard, Mullah Mansour was killed near Quetta and OBL in Abbottabad, they don't come in and out of border post. Terrorism is arm of Pakistani military nothing else.

The original Durand treaty that was sign by Amir Abulrahman khan does not include Bohai Dag and parts of the Mohmand territory, which are promised to Amir under Durand treaty but after rebellion of Mohmand tribes was sized by British in 1897—this is the area where Pakistan want to build fence and create the gates. The original Durrand line treaty document established the border tens of miles to south of what Pakistan wants to create fence, so as you can see, it is Pakistan that is not accepting the Durand treaty.
Moreover the closing of border is also a pressure tactic that Pakistan has used frequently, in order to hurt Afghanistan economically, in 50s and 60s they did the same while also bombarding Konar and Nangarhar, just as for past 4 years these murderous Pakis are bombarding the villages of Konar that area is also not part of original Durand treaty signed by Amir AbdulRahman khan. In addition these attacks by Pakistani troops means to ease the international pressure and isolation after Mullah Mansour killing inside Pakistan--holding Pakistani passport. Afghan blood is being shed in both side of border by army of Ranjit sing---successor of British Raj.

PESHAWAR, Sept 21: NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman on Wednesday called upon federal authorities to renew an agreement on the demarcation of borders between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the same had expired.
“The official term of the Durand Line Agreement has expired and I have asked the federal government to seek its renewal,” Governor Khalil said.
His remarks came in response to a question about Pakistan’s proposal on fencing the border with Afghanistan. The comments are likely to re-ignite a controversy over whether or not the 1893 Durand Line Agreement is time-specific.
The agreement signed between the then ruler of Afghanistan, Amir Abdur Rehman and Sir Henry Mortimer Durand had led to the demarcation of boundaries between the then British India and Afghanistan.
For decades Afghanistan has disputed the so-called Durand Line with some Afghan historians claiming that the agreement signed under duress was vaild for 100 years only. According to those historians the agreement had expired in January 1993.
The English text of the agreement, however, does not mention any time limit.
On the border-fencing proposal, the governor said that Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan was long and porous and hadn’t been demarcated clearly at several points.
But the governor said the proposal had raised hackles as many Afghan tribesmen who had their kith and kin living on this side of the border were uncomfortable with the idea.
