Neither Eranshahr, nor Khorasan were countries or nation-states in the modern sense. They were a cultural reality that described a land inhabited by common people (Aryans) with a common language and culture. Unfortunately most of that historical land was split up by Brits and instead they created a failed state called Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Afghanistan is a culturally confused nation. Iran does not have that problem.

Kemet, Mesr and Egypt are different names for the same thing. Same thing goes for Syria: even during Crusades Muslims and Christians considered their Syrian lands as part of one cultural reality despite being politically divided between Muslims and Christians.

    You are welcome, buddy.

Most of the land was split up by the Brits, true....but they were already split up to a large degree before the Brits went there in the form of regional fiefdoms, warring princes and empires and so on. The Brits and Russians did eventually make problems worse, but things were pretty tumultuous prior to them as well.

This notion of a common culture and language I'm also a bit skeptical about; in previous discussions we highlighted the Khwarzem Shah, Ghorids, Saljuks, Safavi and so on. These groups may have had a lingua franca, but they had distinct cultural identities. Not all of them were "Aryan". It's more accurate to say they had OVERLAPPING/Intersecting culture and language, but were in themselves distinct. This term Iransahr, Arya Vaejya, seems as much a pipedream as Pashtuns have with Pashtunkhwah.

Kemet, Mesr and Egypt, cannot be compared to Sham, there was never a Kingdom of Sham, Sham was a geographic designation first and foremost.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

I have never known Pashtuns from the KPK side walk around in such large numbers and act so desperate and hungry.

I'm not on anyones side, this is purely an honest observation.
Yes you cheked their background and knew they were Afghans. LOL
Most pashtuns in England are from Pakistan. And its quite typical paki behaviour to be perverted and even raping girls. It was even on the news how a gang of pakis was taken to jail for grooming under age girls.

Funny how that's the opposite here in Sydney. Most Afghans where I live aren't a perverted as the Pakistanis are. Sure, some are good but majority of them will chase down a girl at every opportunity. To be honest, Afghan Pashtuns are much more educated in their culture. Pakistani Pashtuns lost that 100 years ago. Just look at the difference between an Afghan Pashtun and these kids:

Pakistanis have brainwashed you and your people, probably a case of stockholm syndrome the way Pakistani Pashtuns love Pakistan.

So was Khorasan, Persia, Iran Zameen or Egypt: a name for a region. Thats it. Some of those regions developed into modern nation-states. Thats it, buddy. Its not that complicated.

Indeed the whole region was a mess and it was already divided along ethnic and religious lines. Herat despite being Persians chose Afghanistan over their own Iranian brothers (do some research about Anglo-Persian war) why? Religion. Faith always plays a huge role.

You are right about lingua franca in Iran Zameen. But sometimes ethnicity is not that important. I mean just look at Ghaznawids and Buyids: Ghaznawids despite being originally Turks they promoted Persian culture even more than Buyids who were "pure Persians" but they promoted Arabic culture. I know many Pashtun Persianspeakers from Herat who hate more their Pashtospeaker countrymen than Tajiks themselves. Culture, language and religion are more important than race or ethnicity.

As for Iran, do you know that Russia and British agreed on the current borders of Iran, since they were in control of it for a period of time? Not only that, Iran became a puppet state of the west. Turkey has only come up recently, since it was known as historically known as Anatolia. If you've read history, Turks were originally from Central Asia but after the Seljuq empire, they settled in Anatolia. Do you see your logic here? Afghanistan has always existed as a separate entity. Aryana, Khorosan etc, to say that Afghanistan hasn't been a historical nation, you'll need to disregard your claims that Iran was its own nation. "Iran Zameen" is just a term that you wannabe Persians use to try to fulfill your imperial ambitions.
Iran Zameen lol. Never ever has that been mentioned on a map.

Incorrect, there was an actually Kingdom of Kemet , Emperor Narmer, United Upper and Lower Egypt into one kingdom, it wasn't simply a Geographic Region.

As for Ghaznawiyah and the promotion of Persian culture; they also promoted Turk culture, the Promotion of something doesn't necessarily mean they identified as those things.

I'm sure there are Pashtuns that shy away from their Pashtun identity. Very common among Mohmadzais for example. Similarly there are Tajiks Tajiks who adopt names like Toorpikai, and Turyalai. Two very famous examples of Tajiks that want to be Pashtuns are Babrak Karmal and 'Abdullah x2.

Even on this forum Afghanfootball's dad is a Tajik "Sayyid" from Logar, but he wants to be Pashtun really badly despite not speaking it at all. Kushan Prince is a Tajik from Balkh that claims he's a Musa Khel Kakar.

To me it's really moot point, this notion that "Everyone wants to be Persian and promotes Persian" culture is greatly exaggerated. Not that there's anything wrong about Persian culture as a whole. I myself honor the works of Beydil, Abdullah Ansari and Abdul Rahman Jami. But I am not Persian nor is it my agenda to promote it. There are aspects I like about it and aspects I don't.

If we look at history more objectively, we'll find most of those we talk about were more along the same lines, They probably liked some aspects of Persian culture and not necessarily fans of the rest. It seems like Ghaznawi for example liked Persian literature, but the way he operated was more akin to how Turks operated in general.

There are aspects about Pashtun culture I like, but also aspects I think need to be greatly reformed.

What this all boils down to is that this would not be enough to suggest a monolithic identity; but sure there's great deal of overlap culturally speaking, that I would agree with.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Ergo I am right. Egypt, Mesr and Khemet are different names for same thing. Ergo Egypt is not a fake Brit made country but a historical land just like Iran, India, Syria, Turkey and so on.

Ghaznawids were patrons of Persian culture: Persian architecture, Persian literature, Persian language,.. and so on. Turkic was used as language for their army which BTW was made up of different ethnicities (Turks, Tajiks, Pashtuns and even Indian mercenaries). Never heard of Turks promoting Turkish values or culture in India or Iran.

Having a Pashtun name does not make you a Pashtun. We don't choose our names. Pashtun names are very popular among Tajiks in Herat. I know plenty of Heratis with Pashtun names such as Ezmerai, Maiwand, Mirwais, Rokai or Zalmay (nice names BTW). But I have never met any Tajik unable to speak Farsi. Basically every single Tajik I have come across was fluent in Persian. Same thing can not be said about Pashtuns and Pashto. I know many Pashtuns who have removed "-zai" from their surnames: a friend of mine his surname is Popal because he told me does not want to be called "a Pashtun ghool" (no kidding). I know a Pashtun from Ghouryan and he changed his surname from Jamalzai into Rahimzadeh. I know also a Noorzai from Shindand and now their surnames his "Sabzawari" (originally name of Shindand was Sabzawar).. and so on.

Karmal and Abdullah are not Pashtun wannabes but political prostitutes. They would rape their mothers if they can grab power in return. They just called themselves "Pashtun" in order to appease the Pashtun elite. Truth is none of them are Pashtuns but Tajiks.

Tajik culture need reforms. There are many things I don't like of my culture specially the feudalist mentality. But honestly dude I think we Tajiks sooner or later will reform our culture. Same thing can not be said about Pashtuns.

Ergo, no, ONLY Egypt among the ones you mentioned could meet this categorization you've stressed of a "Historical Country". It's stayed more or less within its borders, had its own Kingdom and so on. Iran, Syria, Turkey and so on, not so.......actually come to think of it, I may need to rethink Egypt since Sudan used to be apart of Egypt and so did parts of Libya (I'll check on that) and Egypians have been under defacto foreign rule for 2300 years.

Ghaznawids in my opinion represented a fusion/hybridization of Persian, Turkic, Arabic and even in some instances East Asian influences. As far as I could understand, it seems that Sultan Ghaznawi stressed religious identity more than anything, not sure if I can say with confidence that he stressed Islamic values, because he did very cruel things to Non-Muslims and Pure Islam stresses justice for all.

I never said having a Pashtun name makes you a Pashtun; what I'm trying to suggest is that there are many Tajiks who want to be affiliated with Pashtun identity. The adoption of Pashto names by Tajiks suggests one of them, this is different than Pashtuns who may have Persian names, because Persian has been historically a lingua franca. Pashto names can only be explained by wanting to feel more accepted within the dominant group.

If you've never met Tajiks who can't speak Farsi? I recommend you visit Kandahar, Jalalabad, Paktia, Helmund. There are quite a few Tajiks in these areas and simply because they lived in an environment predominantly Pashto speaking, end up speaking Pashto.

In fact researchers have noted this:
Horizontal Inequalities and Post-Conflict Development - Google Books

Naghma I believe is originally of Tajik background, her father is a Pashto speaking Tajik, I don't remember her speaking Farsi fluently. Babrak Karmal and Abdullah x 2 Maybe political prostitutes; but it does not change that they have both tried to associate with Pashtun as an identity despite being clearly of Tajik heritage. If your Hypothesis is correct, that they did so to appease the Pashtun Elites, then this would add evidence that there's a pretty wide spread attitude among Tajiks that they see Pashtuns as socially and culturally dominant and seek to be affiliated with them.

But I digress, yes there are Pashtuns who primarily speak Dari, but this has more to do with the fact they live in environments that require the use of Dari. Same with Tajiks that largely speak Pashto. While I'm sure some Pashtuns exist that would rather adopt a Persian identity, in other Posts, you have admitted yourself most of the Dari-speaking Pashtuns you meet, beat their chests about how Pashtun they are and their Pashtun heritage, despite barely speaking Pashto.....so clearly you'll find a greater majority who Hyper-associate with being Pashtun. As I said AfghanFootball is actually of Tajik background, look at his thread "Historical blah blah about my Family". The references point to them being of Tajik origins. yet he tries playing the role of Pashtun Nationalist.

See us Afghans have this delusion that we're the most "Ghairatmand" people on the planet and that anyone who does something wrong but is NOT from Afghanistan, is really by default "Pakistani" even though their parents and citizenship is Afghan. Nevermind the Warlords and their henchmen who used to abduct women, rape them and so on. Nevermind that having wealthy men having a kaniz (concubine) was Considered LEGAL in Afghanistan until the 1950's.

As others have said, If the woman doesn't belong to our qabayil, our khpelwan, our khel, our kalay etc. their dignity and respect are not important.

Of course this isn't necessarily universal, but it's not totally unheard of. I remember hearing a conversation among older Pashtun men from wealthy backgrounds, (not anyone closely related to me, Alhamdulilah) and they were talking about how their families had Tajik Maids, who were married and Muslims, and as teenagers they'd pressure these women into having sex. These same men would claim they're the most Namousdar and ghairatmand people on Earth.

Afghans are like any other people, most people mean well but we're as a whole very flawed, we have some of the most magnificent and beautiful souls and yet some incredibly horrible and incorrigible ones. But one problem most of us seem to have is that we believe "Our sh*t don't stink"

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

You want to talk about sex gangs all the time as if to say afghans are exempt of it:

These are all reason cases, there's hundreds.

Ok, let's see what students have to say about afghans:

Now then, I'm not saying all afghans are like this, obviously on a general note most are normal, but my point is look at yourself before pointing fingers at others.

Your right. See this is the thing - it's not just afghans that are like this, every race you come accross have this 'sh*t don't stink attitude' must be the times.
Arabs have this to Pakis to even Chechen, but it's just ironic how some of the most with this attitude are not from advantaged backgrounds like Afghanistan, sometimes I think 'man if this guy had materialistic items and a lot of worldly gain he'd be an evil B*std.. Although I have met some afghans through my work and they seemed to be humble and down to earth but they were quite wealthy (property owners, so I'm not sure if it's a money/poverty thing, or even the other way around. God knows but it's annoying, you just learn to ignore and let em carry on in their own story :D

Seems like you need to be educated instead. Nowhere once did it say that "Iran Zameen" is a historical term. As I said, it is a term coined to try to give a name to Iranian imperial ambitions.

F'' your nationality blood, how strong does it make you? minus the matierial it's made from you're flag is the same as any other flag.

Your not getting the point are you. Let me make it abit more easier to understand: Anybody can get these kind of references towards any race, spend enough time who knows maybe you could start a competition.

The lesson here is to focus on yourself and view people as individuals including yourself "ooo I'm afghan I'm real I'm this I'm that" nobody else gives a damn sh*t anymore. You could be black brown white yellow or red treat everyone the same violate and whether your afghan or not all you are is flesh and bones.

There's an old English saying "blow your own trumpet because no one is going to blow it for you' .. You guys are taking that to another level though and living by it.
