^ It is in an area called Arzaan-Qeemat, and the university ended up splitting in half and even though half of the university was Pukhtoon, over 60% were said to join Pukhtoon students. My cousin herself grew up with Dari so she stayed back and studied in Dari. Another thing is that most Pukhtoon students in Kabul end up studying in universities of Jalalabad as those are said to be one of the best universities in Afghanistan.

It depends on which way they are looking at it. For North the ' Western colonisation' 1000000% is better than 'Pakistani colonisation' a.k.a. Taliban regime because their areas are flourishing like mad and people are getting on with their lives again. As for Pukhtoon areas, isn't it Pukhtoons themselves not giving up on Taliban? Jalalabad, though, has and Jalalabad indeed is 'flourishing'. And about the universities, as I said, Pukhtoons in city of Kandahar make up 70% of population who will raise against other 30% demanding for education in Dari. Same goes for Kabul city (of which 70% is non-Pukhtoon) where people question that since all those decades Pukhtoons didn't mind studying in Dari, what happened now? And also, not all Pukhtoons themselves are bothered to fight for their language, then how is this Karzai's or Tajiks' fault?

the problem is the title of the summit. WHy call it Persian? Persians are a minority in Iran. Their language is spoken in different parts of the world. But why should there be a political summit based on their language?

Have you ever seen the East African countries attend a Swahili summit to discuss trade and business?

Have you hever seen Germans, Austrians and Swiss attend a summit called the German Summit where trade and business is discussed?

It's silly. Because Iran wants to profile itself as a dominant actor in the region. And they use any means to do so. By refering to their language, they imply that the region is somehow dominated by Persian.

I have no problem with Persian. I probably speak better Farsi than Pashto. My problem is with the political motives of Iranians.

Last i heard its not a political summit but a cultural one, mind you Dari/Farsi or as it is called Persian language does not belong to a single ethnic group, but its part of collative heritage of whole region, from Mongol Bedil, to Turk Rumi, from Punjabi Iqbal to Pashton Ustad Khalili.
Iran needs the cultural alliance to counter the Pan-Turkist and Pan-Arabist, there is even a Pan-Iranist group (not the citizen of country Iran but Iranic people---Tajik, Pashton, Kurds, Baloch, and Parsi) in iran that preach for union of all the Iranic people.

My 2 cents.... i consider Iran as much as enemy as Pakistan...Shia of Afghanistan are the fifth colum of Iran, we must be very careful with them. We must play our cards right, Iran can be used against Pakistan our number one enemy. The shia vs Suni divide will prevents Iran to have any considerable influence in Afghanistan. Moreover Iran influences to a degree is welcoming, building school, sending books, building hospitals, while Pakistan on other hand only sends suicide bombers, people who destroy schools(more then 300 schools has been destroyed in southern Afghanistan in past year.) kill teachers and students. Pakistan wants to keep Afghanistan and pashton in a state of enslavement using Islam as a tool, a state where girls are prevented to study, science, history and culture study are banned, where half of population are locked in home.(Taliban rule from 96 to 2001.)

Absolutely Iran and Pakistan are both the enemies of Pashtuns. Iran wants to see us celebrate nimroz and speak Farsi. Pakistan wants to see us celebrate 14th August and speak Urdu.

Nimroz? you mean Nawroz? Welll Dari/Farsi and Nawroz both has their roots in Afghanistan, i don't how much Iran would want that to what was originated from land that is called Afghanistan to began with. What i know for sure is Iran would want us to hit our self during Mahran...Iran is successor of Shia Turk Saffavid as much as Pakistan is successor of bloody Angreez for us.
