Karzai Travels To Iran For 'Persian Summit'

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in Tehran in March 2010

    August 05, 2010
Afghan President Hamid Karzai is traveling to Tehran to attend a regional conference billed as a "Persian summit," RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

The conference -- which includes the leaders of Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan -- is meant to improve ties between countries where Persian-related languages are spoken.

Karzai is expected to have talks with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon also is expected to attend.

Topics on their agenda include regional security, energy and construction of strategic roads.

Geographically it's impossible, check out Maseed's homepage for my replies, he had a similar idea.

Follow your idealism in a second step, you first have to get rid of your Punjabi brown masters. Do you have the courage to do it.?

karachi is only one city and pashtuns are not dispersed all over pakistan like in Afghanistan. The difference is that karachi is a city of mohajirs. Its a part of sindh but its inhabitants are mostly migrants from india, punjab and pakhtunkhwa. pashtun migration to karachi is recent. pashtuns in northern afghanistan are spread all over. I will give you a map and see where you can draw the line.
Pashtuns like elsewhere treated no better than stray dogs in Karachi. The whole community earn their breads through humiliating menial jobs. And above all killing Pashtuns has become a kind of hobby for Punjoos and Muhajirs.

Karachi is diaspora...Kunduz or Herat isn't. That is the key difference.

And Afghanistan has a population of persian speakers so I don't see why they can't have such events. Are you turyalee going to wipe out hindko too from Pashtunkhwa, maybe nuristani, pashaii, etc?

Correction. Kunduz was a swamp. Nobody lived there. So Gul Muhammad Khan Mohmand sent lots of Pashtuns from the Mashriq and Junubi zones to Kunduz and gave them land.

Hes looking for someone to cover his back once USA packs up its traveling circus for another country he knows he is a marked man.

You're seeing the actions of a very scared and frightended president looking to try and stop the guillotine coming down on his neck. He's dancing with the devil because he knows the music is going to stop very soon!

That is the key problem. There are lot of Pashtuns lar au bar who are trying to do things for Pashto, but their own people rarely help them. And if they are not too busy fighting each other (btw most people from my experience who do such pashto events are from both sides, but others try to bring division), they are one upping. Long story short is that all of a sudden some people remember pashto because a persian summit was held. They should welcome this but at the same time go work for their language.

the problem is the title of the summit. WHy call it Persian? Persians are a minority in Iran. Their language is spoken in different parts of the world. But why should there be a political summit based on their language?

Have you ever seen the East African countries attend a Swahili summit to discuss trade and business?

Have you hever seen Germans, Austrians and Swiss attend a summit called the German Summit where trade and business is discussed?

It's silly. Because Iran wants to profile itself as a dominant actor in the region. And they use any means to do so. By refering to their language, they imply that the region is somehow dominated by Persian.

I have no problem with Persian. I probably speak better Farsi than Pashto. My problem is with the political motives of Iranians.
