I have a general distaste for the jingoism of military families wherever they may be.

I understand the concept of patriotism and national honor etc.

But I dont think that these concepts supersede basic morality and right and wrong.

These types jump through hoops to basically spell out their message, often being:

"We pertend to be moral and to espouse good values, but the reality is we will invent reasons to justify why our family members/etc can murder and destroy life, liberty, and property in conflicts of offense, and not defense."

I have far more respect for the Genghis Khan type that says simply:

"Yep, we are vicious, we take what we want, and we do it because we want to. Sure we wouldnt want it done to us - but we hold the power so that is what we plan on doing irrespective of the golden rule."

I totally agree. Being evil and selfish and being honest about it, is much better than a deluded individual who claims moral high ground while doing exactly what he detests in others.

They are mostly motivated by revenge and loath, not so much professional as they claim to be.......There were many cases in which soldiers carried out extra judicial killings of civilians in tribal areas out of loath and revenge sentiments. In December 2013, Pakistani soldiers ,while searching for Uzbek militants in Mirali, killed 20 marwat drivers staying in a hotel there, in execution style. @marwat might be aware of it. They tried to hide the news as usual and but their janazas reached our district.

Whenever their check posts in North Waziristan were attacked by Taliban during Kayani times, and they suffered casualties....after few hours in aftermath, they would fire mortars on nearby houses of local population, causing deaths of women and kids in most of the cases (as in homes mostly they stay here). This was so called their "retaliation".

There was a recent interview of an ex-ISI officer from, Swabi, Major-Aamir, he admitted that lot of innocent families in Swat operation got disgraced and humiliated, and 'collateral damage' in that operation was huge......but then he tried to justify it that it is part of war.

- KHAD was created during Karmal's era. Back in 1947, Afghanistan barely had anything more than a few cops and a few footslodiers.

- NDS is created by the Americans, the same people who are giving Pakistan billions of dollars in military aid.

- Afghan govt can't even control Kabul province, how can they conduct any operations beyond the borders?

The fact that these militants only managed to kill a few men engaged in prayers and were nearly wiped out by the response team shows this wasn't some professional tacticool Afghan squad out on a mission. Men are cheap in Afghanistan. Guns are cheap in Afghanistan. The borders are open between the two countries. Put two and two together.
