    @ComradePashtun Ghul,
I am assuming you know some people in the high ranks. It seems as though Karzai is bending to Abdullah and is allowing UN mediation. you guys have to man up, don't bend like you always do. Karzai should stick to his guns and not let Amerkhail go, In reality those recordings are not incriminating because they were obtained unlawfully and immorally even though your afghan gov is immoral like Pakistan's gov. It is Abdullah who broke the law for obtaining personal property unlawfully.

You guys should make a Nixon's Watergate out of it and engineer the fall of Abdullah. The key is not to bend over.

To resolve the dispute between two good people, I would say that this was big news recently from Glenn Greenwald (the Snowden reporter):

      http://www.vanityfair.com/online/dai...sa-afghanistan

There is a program in place called MYSTIC which sweeps up telephony data in nations en masse.

The story goes (as the Vanity Fair article shows) that Greenwald released the names of 3 countries: The Bahamas, Mexico, and Kenya and also noted a country X that was having all of this data secured and scanned by the NSA.

They preferred the label country X because they were told by the Defense Department that it would be easy to identify who, in Country X, was permitting this NSA monitoring and that this could result in the deaths of these people.

For that reason, the usually intrepid Greenwald held back the name of Country X.

Julian Assange of wikileaks fame was furious and felt that this was a racist move and that it was unfair for the people of country X to not know what was happening to their privacy.

He then released the name of Country X as a challenge to Greenwald:

Here is the important other part:

So it seems the hypothesis that NDS's capabilities hinge on the MYSTIC program is based in evidence.

This is not a commentary on whether that is good, bad, right, or wrong its just a clarifier.
Thanks BA for the information. I had heard about this, but it doesn't mean that without the MYSTIC the NDS would not have the ability to simply tap specific phone calls. You wouldn't require a program like MYSTIC through which they intercept and record and store an entire country's mobile calls. Whilst this MYSTIC has been new in this sense, but other methods with basic capabilities have long existed through which intelligence services of counties can intercept and tap calls. The NDS definitely retains this capability and where they manage to get this from is another matter. This capability they can utilise and make use of in their own time and space and as they would like to. Perhaps it is one their essential intelligence gathering asset through which they have been able to foil many terrorist plots and others concerning national security etc. I am hearing that these days even the Kabul police have the technical capability in intercepting signal of criminals which gives them lead to locate and arrest them. I have heard of specific kidnapping cases where they have done this and perhaps the most recent case was the kidnapping of the Ministry of Public Works Deputy Ministry in which through simple intercepting mobile phone signals the police located location of the kidnappers. The point is Khushal the crackhead seems to alleged that the NSA has passed the recordings of Amarkhel's calls to Abdullah which I simply do not buy.

      I hope you are good.

        Abdullah welcomes Ziaulhaq Amarkhil’s resignation

        By Ghanizada - Mon Jun 23 2014, 6:56 pm

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah welcomed the resignation by Ziaulhaq Amarkhil, the secretariat chief of the independent election commission of Afghanistan (IEC).
Abdullah said the suspension of Amarkhil from his position as IEC secretariat chief, was one of his conditions to return back to electoral process.
He was speaking during a press conference shortly after Ziaulhaq Amarkhil announced his resignation; however, he did not say if Amarkhil’s resignation will pave the way for his return to the election process.
Abdullah halted his ties with the election bodies in Afghanistan and accused Amarkhil for industrial scale fraud in runoff vote.
He demanded immediate suspension of Amarkhil’s job and asked the election commission to clarify regarding the participation of 7 million people in runoff vote which he claims is lower.
The electoral team of Abdullah on Sunday also broadcasted an audio tape which they claim belongs to Amarkhil and alleged him of working in favor of Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
In the meantime, Abdullah said he will hold talks with the United Nations and election commission regarding the mechanism to respond to the electoral fraud, upon his return to election process.

It's easy to see that Abdullah is pulling every punch possible to retain his majority. That means having his men attack poll stations, intimidate Pashtuns from voting in the North, having aligned police officials frame Amarkhel, and work to dismissing votes in the South and East as fraudulent. I don't buy the phone bit at all, it just screams forgery. Amarkhel is probably the most professional person in that entire committee and UNAMA still credits him for his work in advancing the election process in Afghanistan. Police general Zaher's unabashed support for Abdullah is well known and having a general accuse an IEC member of fraud will go way further than simply rumors.

As for fraudulent votes, both sides are definitely responsible. It cannot be a free and fair election if the South and East are insecure, and Abdullah knows that and is using that advantage to nullify every vote from this region. Warlords and Drug Barons in the South are apparently creating votes for the highest bidder and everyone is cheating to make it as close as possible.

          ---

When I see this election as an outsider, I can't see Abdullah being a long lasting leader like Karzai. He will undoubtedly polarize the country. I highly doubt his Hazara union will bear any fruit and the Uzbeks and Pashtuns will make his presidency extremely difficult. Abdullah's chances of securing Afghanistan are less than zero. Without Pashtun support, he will fracture the country even worse.

If Abdullah secures the presidency, the Panjsheris will occupy and oppress Pashtuns in Kabul and adjacent areas like they have been in the past 13 years. The corruption by these greedy thieves wil continue. They will expand their power base past Kabul and create a border between their authority and that of the Pashtun dominated regions, which will serve to polarize the country.

The other outcomes I can possibly foresee is that it will create grassroots support for Pashtun leadership that might be able to topple that Panjsheri dominated Kabul government. Panjsheris will thwart these movements at any means necessary, and these politicians will be easy targets not only by them, but also by the Taliban.

If Pashtuns fail to appoint their own leader for the nation, it will lead to more chaos in the south and increased fracturing of the country along ethnic lines; and work in the hands of those elements outside and internal for autonomous separation of certain areas. This will lead the country down another civil war and, even far more threatening, possible partition.

It is obvious why the ISI and their lacky Hamid Gul supports Abdullah. He want's a more weak and fractured government in Kabul that the Taliban can take advantage of and also make it easier to infiltrate.

          --

On the other hand, Ashraf Ghani can become a great stabilizer as his campaign is mainly based on creating jobs, securing loans, and balancing the economy. The solidarity he can garner from the Pashtun majority can help far greater than Abdullah's Panjsheri Mafia in unifying the country, and in my opinion, be the best option for greater success in Afghanistan. He would work hard in re-establishing sound governance in the country and probably bump heads with warlords and the Panjsheri mafia. Being fervently anti-Taliban means he is also Anti-ISI intervention. There will be multiple attempts at his life, not only by the ISI backed Taliban, but by the Panjsheris, and warlords. However if he survives, he has the best chance for securing peace.

            ^^^

Why would the ISI back the Taliban? But bomb the shyt out of them across the line? But than support NATO, and support Taliban?

ISI aren't that smart, c'mon man it's freaking Pakistan were talking here, not America. Their spy agency is not in the level of the CIA, MI5, Mossad.

Both Aby, and Ghani both are puppets of western agencies (yes the west, not the uneducated Paki's). The both talk a good game, but won't even do one word from the copious amount of speeches delivered.

The west don't care about Afghanistan. They care about the billions of opium revenues every year.

              Ghula,
As per the source already mentioned, the NSA records every electronic communication in Afghanistan. It is no secrete that the US wants Abdullah
source- Defense secretary Robert Gates. Remember during the time when Karzai started lashing out at the US and kicked out the UN envoy who was a part of the plan to oust him. and later that same UN envoy called him a drug addict.

As soon as it was found out that Ghani was ahead of Abdullah by a million votes, The NSA quickly tracked down all recordings by the election commission and most likely any one in Ghani's camp to find incriminating evidence to save Abdullah from the repeat of the last election. The NDS might have capability but they don't have the capability of the NSA- that is fact.

During the last election, Karzai somehow convinced the Americans to order Abdullah to back off. But this time, it seems like they are not giving the order. They are going to create weak mini states from Afghanistan.

Here is an interview of Donald Rumsfeld about Karzai after he recognized Crimea as apart of Russia.

If Ghani becomes president, he will replace all Tajiks in the military with Pashtuns. But they are not loyal fighters.

I have no doubt that Pashtuns will quit their job in the military and government, and join the Taliban. There was a similar situation in Iraq, with Sunni and Kurdish troops deserting before the ISIS

Ghani himself might flee to Pakistan, leaving Dostum to take over. Dangerous times are ahead.

Calm down my brothers. Why the fuss about US leaving? It is good that we don't have foreign soldiers on our soil, we should be proud that we will be near our goal, no more occupation! Every Pashtun should be happy, but at the same time, we should try to find as much of these porki, Irani etc spies coming to Pashtunistan in their interest to divide us or use us.

But other nations will probably want to have a stable Afghanistan/Pashtunistan, like China, Russia, India, SCO, Iran. Why? Better and easy for new investment, little competition right now and if stable they will have a new market around 30-40 million people, hopefully they will bring the know how to the young population of Pashtunistan/Afghanistan will get on its feet. Easier way for gas routes as well. Only western would oppose these opportunities and their dogs porkis.
To Paradise, with Pakhto, I will go.
