Belly dancing is Arab culture. If you are against Arab culture then you must be in favor of Islam.

Arabs are not superior. Abu Jahl and abu lahab were the best of Arabs but now they are in hell fire.

Arabs have a noble lineage. But nobility can be cultivated and lost. Most arabs are not noble. So their lineage and language doesnt help them much.

now, a mother's tongue having the nature of prominence rather than any other would easily explain the two of you preferring pashto and arabic....the only thing i fail to understand is why you would avoid making arabic being your second language more obvious until this point of time...

why, sheikh manzareh and al shamlawar khurasani, it happens so that neither one of you have never mentioned being fathered by arabs before... how interesting..congratulations on finally finding the courage to speak out the truth.

DaZahro, you are missing the point here, Arabic is the language of the Quran and Hadith - anyone that is serious about learning Islam would be interested in learning Arabic. Your post was full of pride.

Having Pashto as a formal official language does not mean replacing local languages or abolishing local languages.

Look at India and Pakistan. English is a formal language all educated people know.

Arab culture differs from place to place. There is not one but many different cultures. There are Shamis, khaleejis etc.

Islam is not synonymous to arab culture.. Those who argue against Arabic language and fear Arabization are in reality munafiqeen. They just make excuses. They are against Islam.

Look at secularists in Arab world. They are against Islam and in favor of Arab culture.
What do you mean by formal language? What I understand from formal language is the language which is not colloquial or does not contain slangs or a language designed for use in situations in which natural language is unsuitable, as for example in mathematics, logic, or computer programming. The symbols and formulas of such languages stand in precisely specified syntactic and semantic relations to one another
or logic a logistic system for which an interpretation is provided: distinguished from formal calculus in that the semantics enable it to be regarded as about some subject matter

Do you want this status for Arabic in Muslim countries?

I tend to speak Dinglish. Thats speaking Dutch with English vocabulary.

Formal in the sense that its an offical language used in formal settings like in official government documents and official ceremonies.

In Holland, when you attend school, you are obliged to learn English. If you are a good student, you will have to go to VWO or HAVO. There it is compulsory to know Dutch, English, French or German and in some cases, Latin or Greek. As a result, the entire Dutch society knows English.

We can do the same thing in Muslim countries with Arabic. We can teach local language, which differs from region to region, and a formal language, Arabic. Plus foreign languages, like English, French, Urdu etc.

I don't understand why people are against learning new languages. I can communicate in more than 6 languages. Everywhere I go, people rely on my language skills. I have only benefited from knowing different languages. Socially, economically and most importantly, spiritually.

It can remain being the language of hadis and quran. It doesn't have to become the language that my children or grandchildren will end up having arguments with each other in. Eeekh, just the thought of it disgusts me. As if coming across half naked Arab women speaking Arabic with each other in super store is not disgusting enough.

Formal language is one thing and official language another thing. For making Arabic the official language of about 58 Muslim countries there is a need of vast material resources to convert the present system in to new one. There is also no will for such a change and no project under consideration in any Muslim country to do so.

When you do not have speakers of a language in the local population ,it is very difficult to declare a language official. This is will never happen . Even in the era of Taliban official language was Pashto not Arabic.

Yes there is no harm in learning any language including Arabic . But

I actually don't think it is a bad idea, very hard to implement though.

First of all don't get your knickers in a twist, secondly; I love the way you enter your posts with such 'facts' and then proceed onto your ridiculous dreams/conclusions - the last time we heard your 'facts' you were telling us that the only way forward for Muslims is to convert to Catholism *LOL*
Now you are telling us that 58 countries need to be able to speak modern Arabic and turn it into some sort of mother tongue in order to learn about Islam? What a pathetic assumption, if you were following the post it's about Muslims learning Quranic Arabic to a level were they can study Islam and understand what they are reading/praying, I think more people are taking Islam seriously many more people are learning Arabic so sorry to disappoint you but take a look around. Later

I think Arabic should be the linga franca of the Muslim world; in the same way English is the linga franca of the West.

i agree.. but thanks to new technology conversion is not an issue.. however, language between muslims countries can be arabic.. see.. before english most traveling ship would actually take arabic translators with them when they used to go to far off place.. i think the first treaty between native americans (new england) and white man was also in arabic..

                                1. Thank you Shamlawar Khurasani. The absence of proper learning / use of Arabic is indeed a fundamental factor dividing the Ummah. Most Muslims learn to read the Holy Quor'an or even memorize verses. But how few understand the meaning, and the meaning with context? So much of Muslim heritage and history is preserved in Arabic. How little of this is available to us? And whatever is available comes second-hand through one of the western languages.

                                2. We need to learn the Arabic language just as we learn English, French or Spanish. Proper learning of a language involves a study of culture and history of the region where the language originates from. A study of the literature is very important.

                                3. For linkage and to correctly understand the essence of The Message, the Muslims of the world need to adopt Arabic as a common language in addition to the respective mother tongue. Today children are learning three or even four languages. So this will not create any issues of employment, etc.
