So your point doesn't seem consistent with evidence.

thats because most non-Arab Muslim Dont have Arab as lingua franca....thank god for that, otherwise their fate would be the same as rest of MENA....

We will prefer English Before Arab srs....Arab has nothing to offer....Muslims are already Communication over various Forums using English...(Ummah.com)...

    Whats wrong with English?

Most of MENA already speak Arabic....and yet look at that hellhole....why do you want more countries to suffer?

You already have 22 fu*cking countries speaking your stupid language....what has it accomplished?

And what would addition of 3 More countries (Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan) do any difference?

      • Yes we should all learn Arabic because Allah can only understand Arabic and Arabs are superior to Pashtuns.

Do you understand what a Lingua Franca is?

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

How does a Lingua Franca have anything to do with the current political situation of the Middle East?

If you're really convinced that Arabic is not sufficient a Lingua Franca ....then prove your language can do a better job than Arabiic. Start producing quality scientific papers in your language. Show your language can be used for international commerce. Prove us wrong, and not simply whine about languages of MENA going away or Arabs did or didn't do or are currently doing. Or things completely irrelevant to the merits of the Arabic language as a Lingua Franca.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Same incorrect argument the other poster made, but repeating errant statements is not equal to truth. The MENA has Kurdish, Turkish, Syraic, Berber, Chaldean, Zazaki, Persian, Tati, Bakhtyari. If anything most of the threats to regional languages have been from the Turks and Persians, since Anatolia had adopted Turkish more in the last few centuries (historically speaking). Iranians have had a Perso-centric policy for several regimes, both secular and religious. With exception to Ummayads, most of the transition of MENA to Arabic was a natural one, rather than forced. Remember the primary language of the ME before Arabic was Aramaic, which itself Replaced OTHER languages. It took several centuries before it became majority language, which means the people themselves just chose Arabic because it was convenient. So the MENA had a natural ebb and flow.

Lingua Franca is not the same as replacing local languages. What's wrong with English? Nothing, but adoption of English has made Asia and Muslim inhabited regions pave the way to Western Hegemony and thus sediments the impact of Western Imperialism. And thus financially dependent on the West and thus never able to develop independently from the West. Historicall, the same can't be said about Arabic. Arabic also has a history of technical and scientific literature written in that language. It's a good commercial language.

I'm sure you'll say otherwise, but that view is born out of ignorance of History and people who misquote or have misunderstandings from depending on Wikipedia as their main source. Maybe what lot of critics are afraid of, is that their languages can't hold up to Arabic and will prefer Arabic over their language? If that's the case. It's simplicity insecurity,

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Well you didnt answer my question but retorted with a question....which means you are basically running out of arguments....

Well its a decent question, what has this Arabic lingua franca done for the 22 countries who already speak it?

How any other countries are Missing, HM let me se:

                    Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan...

what difference does IT make that 4 More countries joined your league of already 22 other countries who havent achieved anything despite this magnicifent aRabic lingue franca?

Maybe because your question isn't relevant? Arabic's merits as a Lingua Franca has nothing to do with whether the conditions of Arabic speaking countries are good or not.

Turks, Persians and even to a lesser degree Afghans as well have all pushed out local languages. So if that's your gripe, then it's disingenuous.

There are no strong incentives for having a common language with the Arab world today. Arabic was a lingua franca in Afghanistan and Central Asia in the past but it's not anymore. The only people who want to use Arabic are puritanical Muslims whose mindsets are frozen in the 8th century.

If it's about allowing Afghans to access opportunities, you'd have a stronger case in proposing English as the lingua franca.

If it's about religious piety, not everyone in Afghanistan is religious to the same degree. People who are religious and want to understand the Qur'an better can learn classical Arabic using their own time and money - not that of the Afghan government which is itself dependent on foreign aid and barely able to meet the basic health and security needs of the population.

You need to consider that Afghanistan is a multi lingual country with people who are barely literate in their own native languages. Some languages in Afghanistan are barely surviving, like the Pamiri languages and Nuristani, and others are being diluted by influence from neighbouring languages. Also, if the south mostly speaks Pashto and the north mostly speaks Persian then Afghans will also have to learn a second language to communicate with each other. It's pretty hard learning 2 languages well without requiring children to learn Arabic as well.

                          • No it shouldn't become official language, not in Afghanistan and Pakistan at least. Farsi is good for Afghansitan and English/urdu for Pakistan.

Afghanistan too should adopt english as official language. Afghanis going back and forth for education between both countries face problem because of English being language for higher education in Pakistan and in western world that matters.

There is No need to make English official language here, make No mistake, Afghans learn IT in school for educational purposes...but official is as in lingua franca is pointless when Hazaras, Uzbeks and Tajiks are native Persian speaker....Pashto and farsi being official is as IT is working well....
