Pashtuns living in different areas have different interests. I suspect you meant the interests of Nationalists of some kinds.
So u have no right to generalize it with all pashtuns.
Millions of pashtuns have some different interests that are living in Pakistan. Keep in Mind

Yes, the nationalists, who have been fighting for the rights of Pashtuns, their freedom, culture, language, political unification, etc. against powers as brutal as imperial Brits and their more brutal dark-skinned heirs for almost a century and rendering all kinds of sacrifices can't define Pashtuns interests and outsiders who don't know who they are can pass judgement on Pashtun interests! 1) Confusion : which is a state of indecision acccording to the psychology

No one has a complete monopoly on what it is to be a Pashtoon. And the definitions of who is and isn't don't just stop there.

Mr. tor_Khan, your problem is, in the zeal to oppose the point by your opponent, you try to associate your own meanings to what others say. True, no one has a monopoly on who is a Pashtuns, it is not such an open-ended question as well.

All nations have certain critera of nationhood which include some people but exclude others. What are those criteria depend on a number of things, foremost what a significant portion of a nation wants, the demographic strength of a nation, etc. Employing just cultural criteria for deciding who is to be counted a member and who not isn't enough in most of the cases.

Pashtoons are politically and religiously composite, they are humanly fallible, they are sometimes racially mixed and nationally spread.

First thing is, no one has said here nations are racially homogeneous or are religiouly monolithe. So don't imply your own meanings (of convenience) from what I said. True, Pashtuns are nationally spread but as all nations it is natural for Pashtuns to think of political unification and assert themselves as every other nation in the region is trying to no matter how small demographically or insignificant politically.

More than that the inherent problem I come across time and time again is actually a pseudo-sense of puritanical self which is based on crooked nostalgia and it's worse when such judgments comes from Pashtoons raised in the west with no sense of practicality who are at best clutching at straws.

I just want to see people do something practical than set up threads where the suggestion is that we purge our society and people so that we end up with "pure" Pashtoons.

The first thing is, the kind of pseudo-sense of puritanical self you are talking about is the most manifest in religious people who aspire to build a universal Muslim empire under a caliph. Obviously, such kind of thinking has base in irrationality. We are rational people and the foremost question for us is, how can Pashtuns be extricated from the quagmire they are in...and that what is the long-run solution to their plight. Obviously, political unification and self-rule are what can save Pashtuns and preserve their pride in the decades/centuries ahead.

As you yourself have been raised in the West and have not lived on Pashtun land, your only sense of loyalty to Pashtuns seems to be some nominal feelings of affinity with Pashtuns in an environment where every other person has some identity, Arab, Punjuubi, Mahajar, etc (so the need for you to have an identity as well). You cannot grasp the fact that Pashtuns have a land, a history, and 50 millions soul to raise as free human-beings and so need to have control over their land and affairs.

Wild presumptions. I am a Sufi Muslim. Political sovereignty in no way is antithetical to Islam. Pashtuns were and will be Muslims whether they live in one state or another.
