Failed Suicide Bomber Talks to Yalda Hakim

2010 Admitting he's a blind believer not in God, but what other men says. -
This video is painful to watch .....it's so disorganized and Yalda Hakim is a bad interviewer and journalist....she keeps asking loaded questions and trying to "debate" rather than interview and pushing assumptions. While I think the Taliban are morally warped, the journalist lets the evidence speak for itself, not attempt to dictate to the audience what the evidence is.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
This woman continues to ask the same questions again and again.

O you who have believed, shall I guide you to a transaction that will save you from a painful punishment?
Sahih International
[It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know.

He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment.High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

oh yeah so what does he mean when he said "muzh asal ki Pakistan khwo de Afghanistan pula band pratai yo"
that sounds like he's saying "we're originally from the Pakistan part of the border that rests with Afghanistan"
please explain for my "unlearned" in Pashto mind.

I asked YOU why YOU are using verses of quraan to praise a terrorist. Dont change the subject by telling me what the west does or does not understand when you lack the common sense to analyze a sentence that consists of four simple words.Originally posted by Afghanistan2010 View PostNo,but they will never understand islam, muslims.

Hey scimitar,
Thanks for the response on your wall... I listened to it now when I got home..
I continued the discussion here because I think its important to sort this out. I think I still disagree with the translation and most certainly with the reasoning behind translation by words that you derive. This translation is, in the context of the rest of his conversation, erroneous.
If you listen to the remainder of his conversation he is referring to HIS government as illegitimate and the subsequent sentences do say what was noted earlier. The style of Pashto is Western and the words he uses gives away clearly that his dialect straddles the Afg/Pak border. His Pashto is not at all like FATA people.
This translator purposefully MIS translated him to say: I am from Pakistan or at least made the translated wording such as to imply that meaning.
So now word by word:
Monzh (we)
*ASL KI* -
so this is the set of words that the translator utilized to push his meaning and that you are using to place his birth derivition or ancestory.
In common Pashto parlance you will hear many people say:
ASL KI ... da bada khabara da.
When used in this way it means: "basically"
I used it earlier when talking to my wife.. she wanted to know why I was fidgeting on going to so and so relatives home and I said
Asl ki imtihaan meh pa hagha tarikh deh - Basically, I have a test at that time.
I refer you to page 34 of Zeeya Pashtun's landmark dictionary that Admin Khan made free to us all here. While the word ASL in its root is derived from Arabi and has, as a stand alone, the meaning: root ... but go on to sub definition 1.3 where its paired to keh in an example given by the other.
Then as Zeeya Pashtun correctly translates it means: in essence, in substance, factuality. So its use is as I said above.
Pakistan Khwo Da Afghan pa pulah bandaa prathaa yoo:
"In Pakistan - we sit on the Afghan border"
So the whole becomes:
"We basically, in Pakistan, sit on the Afghan border"
This then makes sense in the rest of the words around his other answers where he immediately therafter rebuts her when she follows through with:
"Do you get your orders from Pakistan?"
He then answers with the 70/30 ratio informing her that in his estimate 30% of the people of Pakistan are Afghans. He is not speaking about Pashtuns as he differentiates between Pakistani Pashtuns and their struggles in subsequent answers and Afghan Pashtuns and their struggles.
She then presses further and repeates a loaded question with: what right does Pakistan have to send their fighters to fight an Afghan war:
He then answers indicating his identity by saying: uh, there are Afghan emigres in Pakistan. Restressing his national identity.
The remainder of the answers, as Graveyard indicates his deep animosity to the Pakistani government and points out OBL and Baitullah Mehsud being found in Pakistan and noting that if America wanted to attack anyone it ought to have attacked Pakistan.
He goes on to praise Afghan bravery and indicate that the Pakistani Taliban are less capable than the Afghan Taliban... so once again he draws distinctions.
The reporter became confused subsequently and said ... "wait but you said 70% of the Taliban are Pakistanis" and he CORRECTS her saying: I was speaking about the HIJRAAT population (migrants from the war in which he classifed himself) as a portion of the whole (fighting and nonfighting, farmer and landowner, and children, and etc).
He goes on to note that these folks such as himself.. that made hijraat now live there.
So in fact at minute 2 second 36 when she questions the right of Pakistanis to fight on Afghan soil: he says "Yeah they are fighting there" indicating he is talking about the Pakistani section of the Taliban i.e Pakistani Pashtuns like Baitullah mehsud.
Further, he differentiates himself from Baitullah Mehsud as a Pashtun from that side of the border and playing on a "different team" than him.Last edited by BarakzaiAbdali; 05-09-2012, 10:22 PM."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote

That's all hand waving BA
the other statements he makes about the percentage of Pakistanis was in contexts of the muhajiran, it seemed like he was saying afghans cross into our borders, why can't we cross into theirs...... the alleged animosity with Pakistan wasn't apparent; it seemed that he was just saying why did they specifically attack the Taliban when OBL was in Pakistan seemed more to be about dancing around the question of why these guys are meddling in Afghanistan's affairs rather than trying to topple Pakistan.
In fact he constantly evades the question. since you're taking liberties at placig interpretations. How else could such evasions be interpreted?
Asal ki doesn't just mean basically in this case "ki" is being used like "chi" so it can be used as origin. Which means the translator was saying what he saying except the grammatical tense was wrong. since he used "yoo." and not "ze....yum". Also he doesn't say Prata, he says PratAAAAI, a verbal noun, if he was speaking of prata in reference to themselves they would say "prot" from what I recall. pratai is referring to the border.
also Shadowgovernor has been sillent the whole day since I pointed this out to him and he's a Pashtu speaker allegedly better than I am, he wouldn't be so silent if that point wasn't clearly illustrated. LOL
Also if what you were saying was in the dictionary; you'd have cited it directly as you usually do with other references. It seems to me you're banking on the fact none of us have the time to laboriously check these things.
The rendering is he is saying they're originally from Pakistan, further confirmed by his explanation of why Pakis go to Afghanistan.Last edited by RevolutionThroughReason; 05-09-2012, 10:57 PM.
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
