If the Taliban were ISI stooges, why did they refuse to recognize the Durand line?

MOst Afghans that talk about the so called 5th province want to reawaken Dauds pashtunistan policy. Those afghans are too naive to see it was dauds pashtunistan policy that destroyed afghanistan.

TTP is surely against Pakistani forces and democratic set up in the country, but they are not against the existence of Pakistan. They dont recognize durand line and would oppose full integration of FATA in Pakistan but it is also a fact that they are not fighting this war for joining FATA into Afghanistan neither they are fighting against a particular ethnicity of pakistan, they want to change the shape of pakistan. They are pashtuns but they are grown up in pakistan and have touch of pakistaniyat in them like all lar pakhtuns...take the example of late wali ur rehman, he got educated from a madrassa of punjab, was member of JUI-F.... They have allies in punjab, lashkar e taiba, sipah sahaba and jaish e mohammad...i.e punjabi taliban. One of their commander of special squid adnan rasheed is punjabi......to get a clear idea watch this video, As-Sahab -- Message from Emir Hakimullah Mehsud and Maulana Wali-ur-Rahman - YouTube

        • Salam Admin,

Taliban have always been influenced by ISI/Pakistanis. Two reasons, I see to why the Durand Line was not signed by them.

          1. Taliban were brainwashed at Madrasas and their focus was more on Religion and with this Pakistan had more control over the Pashtun population and with bringing up the border issue, I think they would have awakened their nationalism.

          2. Taliban were not recognized at UN and any recognized government in the future would have used this against the Pakistanis and would have declared the signing/recognition as invalid and under occupation.

They were not pashtun nationalists, they were just pashtuns being pashtun.
By your logic we can say the taliban are pashtun nationalists which in reality are not.

                        1. Some of the foreign talib foot soldiers from the paki madrasas may have been "brainwashed" but the leaders were grown men who were raised in afghanistan, not some 14 yr old refugees who grew up in a paki madrassa. The so called nationalists who talked a big game were always either the biggest screw ups or sell outs, like daud, karzai, najib.

                        2. The taliban government may not have been the legitimate government according to outsiders but unofficially they were accepted as a reality. no other country besides pakistan/afg cares about the durand line today, so you can imagine how much less others cared about it or even knew about it in the 90s.

This is just one of those issues that will never be solved and nothing will be changed, but politicians will always bring it up from time to time to rouse nationalism and support. Its like chanting "death to america," saying it won't make it happen.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I think you're missing his point; The Taliban were more focused on making sure people had beards and didn't listen to radios; grown men or not, the level of political sophistication of the Taliban was sophomoric at best.

The Lack of the Taliban signing the Durand Line, had less to do with rebuking Pakistan and more to do with the grotesque retardation of their worldviews.

While you're right that the UN doesn't care about Pakistan or Afghanistan, and the Taliban's presence made no difference. Fish is right that a more politically savvy government would have mobilized against a Durand Line rather than tacitly just remain passive for the most part.
