  • If the Taliban were ISI stooges, why did they refuse to recognize the Durand line?

    Greetings PukhtunForums,

    A question:

    • If the Taliban were ISI stooges, why did they refuse to recognize the Durand line?
    • Isn't making Kabul recognize that a 'border' exists one of ISI's foremost policies? Since Kabul till this day doesn't recognize one?

    Just a humble question.

    Caveat:
I am not insinuating that the Taliban were an independent movement, or if they were funded in my backyard. All I'm asking is the above, and I wish to read some fruitful responses. This is just simply a question that popped up in my head while driving on the LIE.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Taliban commander Mullah Dost Mohammad, took Hazara concubines back to his house but on the other hand the Taliban claim to be the protector of all Afghan people.

The Taliban supported the Jihad in Kashmir and housed the Punjabi militant groups all over Khost and Kunar?

So if the Taliban oppose the Durrand line, does that mean they love Pashtuns????

if that was the case, then how come the Taliban are happy to make peace agreements with the Pakistani army but not the ANA?

Why doesnt Mullah Nazir,Hakeemullah, Gul badahur, Haqqanis make a peace deal with the ANA, why only with Pakistani Army????

They only opposed the durrand line because they wanted to attract Pashtun Nationalist sentiment at the time to improve their image amongst Pashtuns as being independent.

Politicians do it all the time.....Taliban are no exception

Interesting analysis, although a murky one that gives rise to a ton of counter-questions.

        For starters:
What do you think of the slaughtering of Pakistani troops by the very same Taliban?

Never heard that the "Afghan Taliban" slaughter any Pakistani troops.

It´s the TTP and affiliated factions that are branded "Indian and Afghan funded Talibans" by the Pakistani establishment who confront the Pakistani army.

I yet have to see the Quetta or Miransha Shura issueing orders to attack Pakistan.
          The only constant is change.

the TTP kill only low ranking soldiers to give the Panjabis the legitimation to infiltrate KP. Do any general care what happens with a small ranking soldier? Pakistan is full of hopeless children who live on the streets. The same system US has, Pak has, too.

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought the Afghan Taliban view the Pakistani taliban as the same group. I thought they have different command structures, but they unite under the same umbrella with the same manifesto. If the aforementioned is taken into account, wouldn't an act of slaughtering done by the Taliban on the other side of Durand be recognize and attributed to the Taliban in general? and not necessarily geographical subgroups?

Again, for those with weak reading abilities, I am not supporting nor justifying nor implying that the Taliban are independent, or perhaps the by-product of the Haku dance of the Kiwis. I've brought forward a simple question, and I seek to read responses that offer a proper rebuttal to my question.

They can't debate. Even when they are refuted, they carry on lying.

NokiaNwn and Soldat are ANP red hat napakis. This Nokia gives it away with the typical ANP red hat Napaki propaganda.

Mostafa can try to give a rebuttal

What rebuttal with sense are you expecting from them?

They do not object to Pakistan support for the US war. They want Pakistan to continue to support the US war? They love naPaK Army

I believe the Taliban are not a monolithic entity. There are various groups and factions. There are Taliban right now in Kandahar who are part of the present government. Go there and they will tell you with pride that they are Taliban. It's not a simple black and white matter.

A recent article suggested that the Pakistanis have Mullah Omar on lock down because they believe that the Taliban and US are talking directly excluding both Karzai and Pakistanis from the talks. So you see Karzai running to Pakistan and the Pakistanis giving their "permission" to give go ahead with the talks to remain relevant.

“Karzai is trying to give an impression that he is in contact with the Taliban, the Americans are trying to give the same impression, but the real Taliban who are fighting under Mullah Omar, they are very clever, they don’t trust the Pakistani establishment, they don’t trust Karzai, and they don’t trust the Americans,” says Hamid Mir, a Pakistani journalist and independent analyst. “Yes, they are ready to negotiate with the United States, but they want to negotiate directly, not through Pakistan and not through Karzai.”

Afghan President Hamid Karzai says he will personally attend a meeting with Taliban figures in Saudi Arabia, working around Western efforts to coordinate…

The TTP is mainly led by the leaders of the islamic emirate, but in the past few years they were free and did many things wrong, after Abdullah Mehsud many things went wrong,Now Mullah Sangeen is leading them in their war against Pakistan and its forces. It is a good way to secure North,South Waziristan , Kurrma, Orakzai, Mohmand, Khyber and other areas in need and which are part of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

Anyone that recognizes the durand line would feel the wrath of the tribes on the line. The line is unrecognizable because the people living on the line have never and will never recognize it.

The Taliban are no ones stooges, they fight foriegners on their soil, wheather they be NATO or Pakistani soldiers in FATA. FATA is not apart of Pakistan, it is an independent entity whose tribesmen have pledged allegience to Mullah Omar. The "stooges" label is propaganda to illegitimize the Afghans natural rebellions against foreign invaders throughout history. It is a tactic to label an indigenous resistance as a foreign proxy.

The Afghans are not falling for it.
