  • Why US/NATO doesn't capture Mullah Umar?

Can the Talib supporters please tell us why aren't the senior Taliban leadership being captured. Do people seriously beleive that US can't find them and Pakistan doesn't know about their location?
    This brings up two scenarios
1: Pakistan knows their location but doesn't want to capture them. This would mean that Taliban and Pakistan are friends and have come to an agreement. If this is the case then the argument of Talib supporters on this forum who claim Taliban have no links with Pakistan and that Taliban are fighting against Pakistani army are nonsense.
2: Pakistan and US doesn't know Taliban's location and Taliban have no links to ISI. if this is the case and Taliban are an independent movement then why is Pakistan always asked to join in when meetings with Talibans are organized?

    So which one is it?

    it is neither you idiot.
taliban are supported by pakistan to counter indian influence on its western border. they are also supported by the sunni arab block to contain iranian influence from spreading.

On the flip side the NA are supported by iran to prevent containment, by russia because it fears pan islamism from its southern border and india to contain pakistan. The US has been duped by the NA and took sides in the conflict, they choose the wrong side and they are paying for it.

Its the law of mutual interest, my enemy's enemy is my friend. I am no Taliban supporter but the only difference to the two sides of the coin is that the NA has duped the US into fighting for them because they themselves can not fight. The Taliban on the other hand are fighting their own battle because they can fight.

were you under the impression that the NA was indepedent and the taliban were not.

Of course Taliban are the mule of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and puppets of the ISI. US and Pakistan need Mullah Omar, the Blind One, to legitimize it´s presence in the region. US knows very well what kind of policy ISI plays because it is part of that game. They also know ISI support the Taliban and hosts Haqqani leaders, including Arab masterminders. You have forgotten the dealing rightly after 09/11 when US allowed Pakistani troops with Taliban and Arabs beeing evacuated before the NA or US slaughter them? If Mullah Omar exists than he is a puppet and a prisoner of the ISI and if he is a myth one of the ISI masterminders uses that mythical figure that noone have seen him before, not even his closest commanders. All of them get their orders via a V-man. The Taliban are fighting for the cause of Panjabis and Pakistan and both section need to be destroyed.

      @Khushal

the Taliban got billion of dollars and hard and supportive logistics directly from Pakistan and Araba. There were more foreigners in Afghanistan than Taliban, including Pakistani army members. You can not expect from 22000-25000 men of Pashtuns, Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks to keep a stream of criminals on Paki side. The thing is the NA can fight but the Taliban can not fight. The Taliban can not fight without support from foreigners. I remember when my uncles and brother fought them in the mid of the 90s in Laghman and Logarvalley. They were destroyed. They came back with Pakis and other terrorists. Today, the Taliban can also not fight the ANA/ANP on a battlefield. Otherwise they wouldn´t send their daughters and sons or use Burqas and other civilian clothes made for women. After 09/11 when Pakis orderd their lapdogs back and the Taliban stood alone the NA alone conquered large parts of the country by their own men power and killed everyone of them they met. On youtube you have hundred of videos. The future of Afghanistan has to be either Pakiless or paki-filled. Either we accept beeing part of Greater Pakistan or we accept beeing independent. The Paki lapdogs won´t have it easy to come back to Afghanistan and establish themself again.. only there, where people welcome them.

Well if you leave the emotions and anger aside...its quite understandable that the fact you are going to enter a country that has over 200 nukes in its pocession and will not hesitate to thrown them on Afghanistan, this is why the NATO forces do not want to confront Pakistan through military means because if those nukes are handed over to some very unsavory people it would be a total disaster.

Mullah Omar just like Mullah Baradar is hiding in Pakistan.

If you was a special OPS unit, and you went into a place like Quetta where every street and ally way is monitored by ISI operatives and a whole division of troops patrolling it, it will never work and be counter productive both legally and relationship wise.

The drones is the best bet because it works on ground intelligence and noone suffers besides the militants and the civilians they hide amongst.

Its a great possibility that Mullah Omar is guarded 24/7 by ISI and other Taliban fighters and would be impossible to get him that way.

The way is to pressurise the ISI to take action and if not Sanctions would also be the other good option.

Easy with the language khushal, throwing insults doesn't make your argument stronger.

We know all those things you mentioned. Thats besides the point. So your saying that US is fighting on behalf of NA against Taliban but they can not capture the leader of the Taliban? Do you seriously believe that US doesn't know the location of "Quetta" shura? as if the name is not obvious enough.
The main point is why US is not capturing/killing Mullah Omar when they are fighting against Taliban for NA as you put it? Is it because they don't know where he is or is it because know where he but they don't want to capture/kill him? which one is it?
Secondly the Taliban are not fighting their own battle, if they were then their resources would have dried up by now. Its very clear that Pakistan/Arabs/wahabi/Deobandis , are supporting the "Afghan" Taliban with man power, weapons and protection. Both NA and Taiban have their supporters and sypmathizers as you have mentioned. The curious thing is Taliban supporters deny any relationship with Pakistani authorities and say they are independent. While its true that Afghan Taliban are independent to a large extent and don't take direct orders from pakistani authorities, its quite clear that because of mutual interests they are locked in a marriage of necessity.
These questions are mainly directed at Taliban supporters who deny any relationship to ISI and pakistani authorities. Some people were also denying Osama bin Laden was under the protection of Pakistani authorities but we now know he was hiding near the headquarters of pakistan army. soon we will find out Mullah Omar will be found sipping tea in Rawalpindi. This doesn't imply Mullah Omar takes direct orders from pakistani authorities or that he works for them but at least it proves their mutual interests which Talib supporters always deny.

I agree mostly. I don't think US/NATO really has a problem with Taliban. What they have a problem with is Talibans giving sanctuary to millitants from around the globe and giving those millitants launching pads to start revolutions in their own countries.
Taliban are a reality in Afganistan, The important thing for Afghans is to realize that Talibs are not going away anytime soon. I think its better for all Afghans to negotiate with moderate Taliban and come to a compromize where Taliban will become part of the establishment. It will be very difficult because some elements of the Taliban might not want to compromize and some foreigners (pakistan) will pressurize the Taliban to not compromize and take all the power into their own hands to eliminate NA/Indian influence.
I think Afghanistan should be ruled by Sharia as Afghans are already strict people and it won't make a difference to their lifestyle and it would not give Taliban any excuse to fight. If despite their compromizes and deals, the Tallibs still keep fighting and persist to fight then Afghans themselves will overthrow them and they will lose support.

lol, you seriously believe pakistan will throw nuclear weapons on Afghanistan? The nukes will not be handed over to rogue elements, a bunch of illiterates can not operate nuclear technology nor a bunch of madrassa students.
Pakistan is filled with Blackwater mercenaries. If the US wants it can do the same thing to Mullah Omar what they did to Osama bin Laden. But something tells me that US doesn't want to do it. There is another dimension to this story and only time will tell why US/Nato didn't capture/kill Mullah Omar. What will pakistan do if US decides to carpet bomb Quetta? Pakistan doesn't give a damn about pashtun and baloch areas. Did Pakistan raise a finger when the drones were hitting waziristan and other areas of FATA? You are giving Pakistan too much credit by implying they can retaliate if attacked. Pakistan won't do sh1t as long as Lahore and Karachi are not attacked and the elites of army and government can stay in power.

Badmashkhel, the last point you mention is very valid criticism of Pakistan or it's government (unlike most of the bogus anti-pak hysteria conjured up by extremists on this forum such as Pakistan being responsible for everything from the soviet-afghan war to the failure of the warring factions to get on).

There seems to be a policy of damage limitation. Don't flatten the whole country, but just bits of it to satisfy some blood lust. Those bits to be flattened happen to be Pashtun areas. The trouble arises that the Pashtuns don't have much of a voice, they say no foreigners or militants, the media says there are. Personally I think no one has a clue what they're shooting nor how many foreigners are there and where.

The Pashtuns have always been, as a group, much more combat-able than the Tajik or Uzbek or Hazara, or all 3 combined. This is not only in recent history, but in ancient history. The Mongol invasion being one example. A lot of the reason is that the Pashtuns are a much better fighting unit than the more corruptible Tajiks and Uzbeks. They don't fight well as a group. This is why Pashtuns have traditionally been power holders in Afghanistan.

Note, no offence to the covert Tajiks on here. This is just straight talk.

I fully agree with what you have said including your last paragraph. USA is not afraid of Pakistan's nukes as they are just toys (for USA) which Pakistan mostly was able to get/make due to Chinese help. There must be other reasons why USA does not want to teach Pakistan a proper lesson. It would only take the USA a month or two to bring Kayani's army to its knees - if they wanted to do so but USA probably do not want to harm Pakistan permanently either for their own interests.

Problem is that Pakistan will not stop trying to colonise Afghanistan if it is not taught a lesson. I think all Afghans need to unite together - Pashtuns, Tajiks, and the rest. Then Kayani and his mates will understand they cannot colonise Afghanistan and they might have a rethink. Otherwise Kayani and his mates will not stop which means war continues and Afghans will go on suffering.

Wane GURU, Pakistan's Airforce could be flattened, as could the country's infrastructure. No doubts. However, what then? What would be the point in flattening it? It would create another factional, unstable Soviet Afghanistan.

Digressing, Pakistan's nukes were not created with Chinese help. There is an argument that uranium enrichment was based off stolen plans from some Dutch facility, but it seems irrelevant as Pakistan can enrich Plutonium also. Some people have a hard time accepting Pakistanis are not stupid people.

As expected, it gets worse Many countries have meddled in Afghanistan. This is where you anti-pak extremists lose the argument. Instead of focusing on genuine points that Pakistan has done wrong, you bring up loony points that Internet dummies only could believe. You claim, for example that Pakistan interferes the most in Afghanistan, yet it has never physically invaded Afghanistan by force like other countries. It has engaged in proxy, but name one country that has not? The difference between Iranian proxy and Pakistani proxy is that Pakistan backs the better boxer.

Important question. Do you believe Pashtuns are docile people that can be controlled?

yes, these arab foreigners are so tough that they have freed jeruselem and the pakis are so tough they have freed kashmir. those accomplishments speak volumes of how tough they are.
and the NA are so tough that the US is holding them back to prevent them from destroying the Taliban. even with the US help, they are still incompetent from forming a functioning administration.

the taliban are fighting their own battle, they are using weapons that have been left over from the soviet days and they are using weapons they buy from the ANA. most weapons are primitive. 98% of the fighters are afghan so this claim of your that man power is foriegn has to be backed up with sources. I need sources for your claim.

the US does have a problem with the taliban because of the points you made. the problem is that the taliban can not dissapear because they are vital to pakistani and the Sunni arabs interests. destroying the taliban is like destroying the pakistani state and have Arabia ruled by Shias. the irony is that the taliban is like a frankenstein for the sunni arab states because the taliban do support groups that would want to overthrow those arab states regimes. its either deal with nuesances that want to overthrow you or deal with a much stronger Iran that can destroy the arab regimes. its one of those "damned if they do or damned if they dont" scenerio.
