Oh, am I? If I seriously don't know something then I am hurting the literacy rate by gaining some knowledge about it and taking you out of context? Hmm, if your literacy rate would have been high then bunch of barbaric and illiterates called Taliban would have been the last people you would support.

So in what way is Kandahar more important here, as compared to Kabul? Or am I taking you out of context now, again?

Did I ever in any of my posts say Kandahar has got no importance at all in Afghanistan? No, but you keep claiming it's the most important province of Afghanistan and Kandahar is what's all about, because it's not. Even though Kandahar is in ruins today, still other Afghans are alive and well.......

Did you ever wonder why Kabul got under control? That's because Kabuli's themselves preferred NATO and Northern Alliance over Taliban and that's why it didn't take USA too long to get Afghan support in taking over the province. Otherwise look at what has happened in the past in Kabul and how Mujahideen were struggling to impose their power on Kabul, because their people were on different sides! Kandahari's are majority on Taliban side, that's why USA is struggling in 'converting' their view. Just like how Nangarhari's decided to give up on Taliban and therefore USA doesn't even have to bother work out it's power there. Hope you got the point.

Is it? Is that the reason why 90% of those Pukhtoon men who married Tajik's did not only lose their language but also their culture to Tajik's? Out of experience I can at least say that we, Pukhtana's, are much stronger in holding our culture and language tight.

They have to stop using dari when it comes to business and counting.
They have to teach their children Pashtunwali.
They have to also make sure their children realize Pashto is the way to go.
Sorry to disturb you here, but wasn't education exactly the thing your beloved Taliban are against? Then why even bother when other provinces use Dari as their sources in education and business? And even this Wardaki family I know who are die-hard Taliban fan still count in Dari, LOL.

Just the fact they weren't Pukhtoons and not everyone spoke Pukhto as their first language gave Taliban enough right to treat them they way they wanted to. Did you know that even Tajik's were supporting Taliban when they newly came to power, but changed their minds since Taliban forced Pukhto and Pukhtunwali on them?

Besides the language, today Nangarhari's are doing us truly proud.

Afghanistan and Pashtuns from Pakhtunkhwa should take the example of the tribal Pashtun region, where 99.9 percent of people all SPEAK PUSHTO, there is no DARI AND THERE IS NO URDU, have some shame people.

Also Shes absolutely right, I know a pashtun who wanted to join the ANA, and he was refused because he could not speak Dari, That tells you alot of the situation of Pushto in Afghanistan.

Roara Sangar knows alot about the status of pushto in Afghanistan, he said that in Kabul, if a Pashtun student speaks pushto, he wud be slapped and hit, because Pushto is seen as a bad language

No doubt Kandahar is a great Pashtun city and Pashto is the only language used for writing and speaking which is not the case as in cities like Peshawar , Quetta etc where Pashto is only spoken never written.

In Pakistan Pashto is used for speaking in Pashtun areas but never for writing. Even in tribal areas in Pakistan Pashto is just used for speaking never for writing. This is a deplorable situation which must be improved.

Any other city like Kandahar can be Jalal Abad where Pashto is used for speaking as well as writing. No other city can be compared with Kandahar for the status of Pashto.

However we should try to make all Pashtun cities and villages like Kandahar. Kandahar can be a model but not the whole picture. Only Kandahar cant save Pashto. Out of 70 millions of Pashtuns only 2 million live in Kandahar.

Kabul, Quetta, Peshawar and Jalal abad must be great centres for the development of Pashto language and culture and its influence must extend to all the pashtun cities, towns, villages and homes.

Specially in Kabul Pashto must have its due status as the world knows a country by its capital where all centres of business, pòlitics and culkture usually exist.

We instead of fighting with each other may chalk out pragmatic strategies how every Pashtun city can become like Kandahar.

ok now that's highly exaggerated! its true that there is tension between Tajeks 'n Pashtoons in Kabul but none gets beaten for speaking Dari or Pashtu, that's definitely not true.

Even she was saying only Kandahar cannot save Pashto and since Kabul is in centre of attention in entire world, its Kabul where status of Pashto should improve. Only of Afghanistan u 'll hear people talk about is Kabul, tho in Pakistan Jalalabad is ''more popular''. And don't be too proud of Taliban, I remember how empty our area in Peshawer became after Afghan refugees left towards Afghanistan, thinking Taliban 'll provide them better future. But just few months later double of those who had left, returned to Peshawer and they were complaining that Taliban is even worse than Mujahideens and that women should be at home 24/7. Now what do I make of this?

Taliban were only nice to Pashtuns and that also to the people of south in particular. Taliban had to understand that Afghanistan does not only belong to Pashtuns and should have respected other ethnics' territory as well. Looks like u as a Hindu liked them despite of them being extreme radical Muslims, but come to Southall once and see what Afghan Sikhs have to say about Taliban.

No, I did read the article. Despite of it's length I read it till the end. And what I understood there is that Kandahari's are not willing to give up on Taliban, that's why US is struggling in changing their thinking. I also understood that historically it has been a very successful province and I myself never disagreed on that, but what I am asking you now is; Are Kandahari's getting chance to get a proper education? Are they able to show their ability in sports? Is the province profiting economically like other major provinces? In today's world, things such as pride, great history, stubbornness and etcetera don't work. Technology works, education works, economy works. These things make a province progress and important and until Kandahari's keep behind Taliban's back, these things are far out of reach and that very same Kandahar which once used to be mentioned by Pukhtoons with pride, will (Khudai de neki) later on be mentioned by Pukhtoons in a sad tone. Besides being the main centre for Taliban and struggle for the USA, what other importance does Kandahar presently hold?

I could see that this man is writing this story from his own view, but even then I guess I missed the part where he said 'Kandahar is more important'? I did get it he said since Kandahari's are on Taliban side and therefore it's hard for USA to get Kandahar under control, but couldn't that be the reason why Kandahar might be seen as an 'important' province? Provinces like Kabul, Nangarhar, Mazar and Herat (the province which once used to provide around half of the Afghan national income) are already out of Taliban support and that's the reason why they are so successful and that's why USA doesn't even have to struggle there. But Kandahar is also one of the greatest provinces which along with these provinces has been very important for Afghanistan, but since that's the only province out of five great provinces which does supports Taliban, couldn't that be the reason for US 'struggle'? Don't you think USA would have struggled same way against those other four provinces if they also supported Taliban?

The current war is war against Taliban.
                    Talibans capital was Kandahar.
                    Their birthplace was Kandahar.
Pashtuns call Kandahar there cultural stronghold.

obviously it will play a bigger role do you agree?

Say all Taliban are not bad does not mean you support them.

He also said not all Taliban are bad.
Taliban are Afghans. It means a student. You are also a Taliban if you are a student.

Pashtuns in Afghanistan may call Kandahar their home not Pashtuns in Pakhtunkhwa

Secondly, not all taliban are Afghans and for you to say they were born in Kandahar is totally wrong, because you as like many ignore the ISI and Pakistani factor into it.

Taliban may mean student, but that doesnt mean students of other faiths will be in the taliban movement.

And you missed my point, my dear. Reason why right now USA is more concerned about Kandahar than Kabul is because Kabul is fighting against Taliban, that's why Afghan policemen and soldiers are enough to take responsibility of security in Kabul. But Kandahar isn't gonna give up on Taliban and like I said before, Afghanistan's most important five provinces have always been Kabul, Herat, Mazar, Nangarhar and Kandahar. Presence of Taliban in those other provinces isn't as strong as in Kandahar.

Yes, I agree that it's very important a final decision is taken upon Kandahar so that we know where Afghanistan is standing now. But I was talking about economical importance, educational importance, security importance, etcetera. When Kabul was in ruins years back, do you remember how entire Afghanistan was in ruins? Why? Because that was and is the capital. And today Kandahar is in ruins but yet other provinces are doing their 'thing' and I am very happy to see some provinces progress massively as compared to Taliban era.

Yes, they did make Pukhto only national language but Afghanistan needed education, we needed to fight poverty, we needed national unity, we had to give all ethnics equal rights to shine, women needed freedom to study and work. Only being a 'good person' isn't enough, you should have capability to actually manage an entire country with hundreds non-Pukhtoon ethnics. Now I am not saying that Hamid Karzai is a perfect leader (not even close) but that doesn't mean that we should turn our support to Taliban again, just because Karzai didn't prove to be much better. Karzai is a Western puppet, Taliban an Pakistani puppet; Simple as that.

This is not about whether Taliban were good human beings or not; This is about whether Taliban was a good leader or not, and according to me that's a no.

Exactly. Even ISI admits they were behind Taliban but yet Taliban supporters call others 'brainwashed'. Even Uzbek Taliban in Waziristan is being supported by ISI and Pakistani Army, but make my dear Afghans understand this.

                        Dear

You should tell them that a Punjabi by the name of Usman Punjabi is a commander of the Punjabi Taliban, there is also a Saraiki Taliban groups as well, Taliban does not work for Pashtun rights, you should ask these Talib supporters to please provide us visual or audio evidence that Taliban speak of Pashtun Unity or even a Pashtunistan. They dont, they just speak of the usual Alqueda Hamas Arab Unity non sense, they dont even use the word Pashtun, they replace it with Muslim.

Punjabi Taliban, Uzbek Taliban of Waziristan, my cousin even saw Tajiks from Tajikistan in the taliban movement of Waziristan.

They avoid this, they sit in the west, and watch these videos but never taste the reality.

                        Regards

In peshawar you speak in pashto to do business as well. The only problem is that they are using urdu numbers and the education system is pakistani so it is either in urdu or pashto. Kandahar has its place, so does ningrahar, so does peshawar as well as people of mianzanee Pashtunkhwa. If it wasn't for the people of mianzanee pashtunkhwa, third anglo-afghan would be a defeat...we owe love to all our pashtun areas.

Since you have not been to Kandahar, I doubt you can compare the two. In Peshawar Urdu is main language, I doubt it is Pashto. I heard Hindko is used in Peshawar city, not even Pashto. Kandahar on the other hand, 100% Pashto. Languages like Dari,Hindko are just as alien to them like French and German. Business is in Pashto. Tajiks,Uzbeks all speak Pashto.

But I have a lot of love for Peshwar, Peshawar holds a special place in my heart. All Pashtun provinces I love equally. If it wasn't for the Hotaki tribe of Kandahar, many of you would have been speaking Dari. Including yourself.
Peera I have lived in Peshawar. The reality is that in peshawar the lingua franca is pashto. However the education system and writing is in urdu or english. You can't really live in peshawar in ease without knowing pashto. Even hindko speakers and parsibaan can speak pashto in peshawar. I am not comparing it to kandahar nor saying it is better (or worse for that matter). I just wanted to clear some misconceptions.

Are they not singing about their country and people in these songs you've uploaded on your YouTube account? This is contradicting what you have just said... hmmm..

Why don't you delete these videos, or do you not mind spreading Taleban ''propaganda'' on the net?

You are so wrong there, Kabul plays no role in Afghan politics presently, Its all about KANDAHAR. Have you not been checking the news lately? Kandahar is where everything is at. It was a Kandahari who founded Afghanistan. It was a Kandahari who ruled India. It was a Kandahari who ruled Persia, It was a Kandahari who wrote Pata khazana (our most important contribution to Pashto) It was a Kandaharis who stood up for Pashto language.

Afghanistans most largest ethnic group is Pashtuns, all Pashtuns pay tributes and respect to their cultural capital and center which is Kandahar, a province with nearly 2million people according to Al Jazeera. When the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, the Capital was Kabul or Kandahar? answer that one carefully make sure you do your research.

Even the Americans have admitted its Kandahar that plays the most important role, It was Kandaharis who created the Taliban as well, Tsk tsk.

It was Kandahar that was the first Capital, It was a Kandahari who shifted the Capital, Tsk tsk.

Your fabrications based on false history. Our most important form of history is oral history, I can create a website and say Pashtuns are now 10 percent. Someone just like you will be quoting it and using it as a fact.

Pashto is by far, the most spoken language in Afghanistan.

However, Dari is used more for ADMINISTRATIVE purposes, because many Pashtuns are too busy in war, defending the nang of our country as compared to writing books in Pashto. Who has not worked for Pashto? Ahmad Shah was a proud Kandahary, Everyone knows that Farsi or Dari does not even exist in Kandahar,

We have a Joke, We kandaharis are so alienated to Dari, that some of us think Peshawari Pashto is probably Dari. Like "Is that Dari? Is the Dari a form of Pashto?" I know another member has also used the same example here.

He had a Persian wife so what? Persian culture? Listen missy, we Pashtuns dont like forcing our culture on others. We are not Arabs. If we Pashtuns get in a bad mood, best believe that we can have every Tajik in the country speaking Pashto, Its part of our hospitality to not force our language on others.

I dont have time to respond to everyone, I did not even see all his posts. If I am here responding and putting you in check, dont you think I could have done the same to anyone else?

Missy, can you please stop quoting me out of context.
When I said Pashtuns are 30 percent, I was TELLING YOU people NOWADAYS say we are 30 percent. Re-read my statement, dont take my posts out of context and out of tone. Look at the way I worded it.

Pashto was always an important language, we never had a stable government, All our leaders were sold out, except the Taliban.
All of your posts so far are misleading. Kandahar is nothing today my dear Kandahari. Kandahar is being bombarded and pillaged internally and externally. Your claim that Dari and Dariwans are not found in Kandahar is a lie and shows you have never been to Kandahar city. Anyone from Kandahar knows that there is a big Tajik-Shia population living inside the city and some Hazara villages around the city. All of these people speak dari and the interesting part is that I have seen many Kandaharis speaking dari with these minority dariwans in Kandahar rather than the minority communicating in the language of the majority. Let me give you an example. Go watch this BBC report from Kandahar which was broadcasted by BBC Dari. Many Kandaharis in this recent report are speaking Dari rather than Pashto.

In 2005 Habibullah Rafi, a pashto scholar, condemned Ahmad Shah Baba's sons and grandsons for abandoning Pashto. Did you know Temor Shah, Shah Shuja, Shah Zaman were Dari poets and their poetry still exists in dari. They even have poems that praise khurasaan and other dari poets and writers.

Pashtuns have nothing in Afghanistan today. Our people are fighting a war that will only destroy us and our scholars and weak nationalists are serving their Dariwan/Tajik masters and 40 international countries. Panjsheris and Tajiks have taken over most of Kabul province and have even invaded places like logar and most Pashtuns who lived in the North have been kicked out by Tajik warlords and many are being killed right now in Baghlan and Kunduz (they are using the excuse that these pashtuns are helping the taliban there). If Kandahar was important then why is money being poured into Tajik cities like Herat Mazar and Kabul but not Kandahar. recently a railroad was inaugerated between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Mazar but the government is unable to do such a project between Pakhtunkhwa and Kandahar. Why did the US build a colsulate general in Herat and Mazar but not in Kandahar. Everyday Kandaharis and Pashtuns are being condemned by everyone and we are labelled as Druglords, Terrorists, and warlords by everyone.

People like you should stop dreaming and should realize the truth. dreaming will not help us but if we realize the truth that Afghanistan is failing, Pashtuns are powerless, and Afghanistan is being disintegrated by Dariwans and their Kharasaan might be formed soon we will have time by then to prevent most of these atrocities and to come up with a better strategy.

Anyone who does not agree with my points should watch this Peace Jirga that is being held right now. The speaker and chairman of the Jirga is a Tajik criminal and warlord, Borhanudin Rabani. Was there no other Pashtun to direct this Pashtun jirga?
