PM directs Khar to end US visit, return home

ISLAMABAD: In a sharply changing scenario in the backdrop of tense US-Pakistan relations, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday cut Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar's visit to US and directed her to immediately head back home, Geo News reported.

1.Pakistan should brace for missile strikes. USA has to expand the old inventory because the manufacturers have made better ones. A missile costs more than US$1 mlln. These can't be destroyed in a range just like other outdated ammunition.

        2. But USA will not risk physical invasion. Then Afghans as well as Pakistanis will unite to eliminate them everywhere. It seems, India, in spite of all of USA's pressures and persuasion, have not agreed to aid USA in this mis-adventure.

Hina Khar says US using Pakistan as a ‘scapegoat’
        NEW YORK - 25th September 2011 (5 hours ago)
        By APP
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said on Saturday that US charges about Pakistani involvement in last week’s attack on the American Embassy in Kabul flow from Washington’s desire to use Pakistan as a scapegoat for the success or lack of it in the fighting in Afghanistan...Asked by Pakistani television Dunya TV about the possibility of American troops crossing into Pakistan to fight the militants, the foreign minister said that there are red lines and rules of engagement with America, which should not be broken.

“It opens all kinds of doors and all kinds of options,” she said. Khar, however, insisted that Pakistan’s policy was to seek a more intensive engagement with the US and that she would like to discourage any blame game.

        http://www.aaj.tv/2011/09/hina-khar-...s-a-scapegoat/

What was interesting in Khar's comments is she did not say "Any unauthorized unilateral American operation in FATA is a violation of Pakistani sovereignty and is unacceptable", instead she said she would like engagement and avoid a blame game.

"CORP COMMANDERS HAVE TAKEN DECISIONS HOW TO REACT AGAINST US AGGRESSION....I REPEAT "HAVE TAKEN DECISIONS"....!!!!! other news....PM Gilini is contacting different leaders to convene a GOL GOL Conference to discuss the issue....!!! Date has to be announced later.!!!! ADVANCED AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM WAS HIGH ALERT LAST NIGHT AFTER WHICH THE CORP COMMANDERS GATHER THIS MORNING.....!!!

A poster quoting senior Pakistani journalist and analyst Shahid Masood from his facebook.

          Shahid Masood.

He is on tv right now and says the PAF radar detected deep strike bombers (B-2?) on the western border, hence the high alert.

P.S take his commentary with a pinch of salt as he is not known best for his credibility.

Pakistani poster about Shahid Masood, post 36 http://www.defence.pk/forums/strateg...ack-usa-3.html

          Correction

Dr. Masood didn't name any aircraft. All he said that PAF has detected deep strike bombers. B-2 was my own uneducated guess.

          Apologies.

The US is about to make a mistake of epic proportions - it cannot take the Haqqanis out by airstrikes - if it gets tangled up in the terrain and warrior tribes of NWA it is going to get seriously burned, the Haqqanis are acknowledged by all sides, to be world class warriors. To put into context, the terrain is similar to Chechnya'n mountains.

The war is lost, it is all over bar the shouting, it has been lost since 2003 when they invaded Iraq

If the Yanks take on the Haqqanis in NWA - it is going to be the US's Hezbollah moment, I consider the HQ's that good. -

It is one thing to not do anything against a US strike out of selfish interest and an entirely another thing to not be able to do anything. The point being, if bombed then Pakistan can take out the air field from where the USAF jets took off.

Enough is enough! 1 call from the military and this whole nation will stand united behind them to defend their country against this aggression! Just 1 call Kiyani and the whole nation becomes 1!!!!

                  Post 69

I think the US seems to be heading for a lull and hadn't expected this unified and strong a response from Pakistan.

It goes to show that once you show unity and decisiveness even a global bully like the US backs off.

                  Post 72

The OBL raid and the false propaganda war started against Pakistan is building up. Gradually the level of Pakistan's 'guilt' is being made higher and higher.
The utterly false and fabricated notion that ISI would want to attack the US Embassy is the latest high. Who knows what's next?
Several weeks ago I said that a 'false flag' will be America's biggest weapon to make Pakistan 'behave'. And that's starting to unfold.

While all this is not surprising to even a novice blogger like me I wonder if the Pakistani planners had a plan to deal with this eventuality. Surely, the gloves have been coming off since the OBL raid. There are 'expectations' as said by Hillary during her visit to Pakistan a few months ago. Those 'expectations' are not being met, I guess.

Anyway, an open war, even an aerial bombardment in NWA is the 'red line' which, if crossed, can result in a shooting war. At least it will result in Pakistani checkposts looking the other way as the Talibans cross into Afghanistan--this time with more lethal weapons.

                  I hope better sense prevails.

ARY has been running news and special programs all day. I really liked one program where retired general Aslam Baig was invited and a very interesting discussion ensued. Briefly stating what he said, he mentioned this as close to war as you'll get. Limited scale opp in NWA could spread into a full fledged war. America scapegoating Pak for its failures in Afgh.

Now back to Pakistan vs America. Pakistan isnt some one America can push arroud every thing has there limits. If America is silly and try some thing which a afraid they will it will drag in hole region. Iranies and Chinees will help Pakistan and America will die like lonley dog. India will be stupid if they join America. This american step can start world war 3 since so many countries will be hurt !!!!

DRAGON IS ALERT, THE DRAGON IS READY AND IS REPORTED TO APPARENTLY HAVE WARNED THE US BEFORE THAT ANY US ATTACK ON PAKISTAN, IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON CHINA...i.e. CHINA MAY DECLARE WAR.

                  PLA VETERANS

"With the US and Pakistan engaged in a war of words, China today sprung to the defence of its 'all weather ally', asking Washington to respect Islamabad's sovereignty and territorial integrity while fighting its war on terror.
Asked about US military Chief Admiral Mike Mullen's accusations that ISI was supporting the Haqqani network to wage a proxy war in Afghanistan, a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry defended Pakistan, saying it has been "in the forefront of international efforts against terrorism."
"Pakistan has made important sacrifices in global fight against terrorism. We hope relevant country will respect other countries sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said."

"well, our media is really get this into mass hysteria. The media is saying as if the US is now coming , and it is not a matter of when, but a matter of when. But i think this is wrong. Diplomatic pressure, Embargoes, sanctions might come, but US boots in the ground is a no no. A little incursions for about a 5 mile area might come, on the border zonez, but definitely not a invasion, not until the pullout from Afghanistan."

well if they attack, they will attack the Pashtun areas.

This is what the "Pashtun nationalists" want.

If they attack they will further unite the whole region against them. China will fully back both Afghans and Pakistanis.

There is no point of return.

Pakistan has recalled the foreign minister.

In some ways, finally Pakistan slavery has come to an end.

Senator: Consider military action against Pakistan

WASHINGTON – Sen. Lindsey Graham says the U.S. should consider military action to defend U.S. troops if Pakistan's intelligence agencies continue supporting terrorists who are attacking American forces.

The South Carolina Republican says Pakistan is engaging in hostile acts against the U.S and Afghanistan, and that must stop.

Graham, who's on the Senate Armed Services Committee, says there will be a lot of bipartisan support in Congress if there's a decision that the U.S. must "elevate our response."

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, last week accused Pakistan's intelligence agency of backing extremists who attacked the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan and detonated a truck bomb that wounded scores of American soldiers.

Sirajuddin Haqqani dares US to attack N Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: While the United States, ever more strident, is ratcheting up pressure on Pakistan to snap its “ties with the Haqqani network”, the group’s chief Sirajuddin Haqqani on Friday warned Washington against any military adventure in the North Waziristan tribal agency.

Speaking to Reuters by satellite phone from an undisclosed location, Sirajuddin said he’d look forward to a US ground attack in North Waziristan. “The United States will suffer more losses [in North Waziristan] than they did in Afghanistan,” he said.
Still, he doesn’t take chances, especially with overhead drones a constant worry – 57 drone strikes have peppered the region so far this year, according to the New American Foundation, a think tank that keeps a database of such attacks.
Some 55 members of his family, including his brother, have been killed in such attacks.
According to the New American database, at least a quarter of the drone attacks since 2008 have targeted the Haqqanis.
“I always avoid travelling in a motorcade of armed fighters, as it puts your life in danger,” he said, adding that is also why he doesn’t wear a turban or carry a gun.
Yet he is far from being a desperate fugitive on the run. He acknowledges that Haqqani fighters now number around 15,000, making it probably the largest force among the Taliban warlords. He also moves easily across the border to areas of eastern Afghanistan where the Haqqanis are entrenched.
(Read: Who on earth are the Haqqanis?)
He even mediates disputes among the Taliban and takes part in their meetings in Afghanistan.
“His word is enough,” said Mahmood Shah, a former Pakistan intelligence official who monitored militants for years.
The forbidding terrain of Waziristan, which forms an ill-defined border with Afghanistan, is also his ally.
“There are certain houses and villages where the bathroom is in Afghanistan and the bedroom is in Pakistan and this creates some issues,” Interior Minister Rehman Malik told Reuters. “That no-man’s land, that is not (in the) control of Pakistani forces or Afghan authorities or the US forces.”
The Haqqani’s power and influence in Afghanistan is such that they are indispensable to any settlement of the decade-long Afghan conflict, America’s longest war, experts say.
“If there is to be a meaningful cessation of hostilities, the Haqqanis will have to be part of the peace process,” said Vahid Brown, an expert on Islamic militancy and author of a new book, “Fountainhead of Jihad: the Haqqani Nexus”.
(Read: Time for some hard decisions)
Sirajuddin is one of the world’s most wanted men with a $5 million bounty on his head. He said he discovered that while listening to the Voice of America.
“I don’t know why, but I could not sleep that night,” he said in Thursday’s interview. “In the morning, I tuned into a Pashto-language broadcast of the Voice of America and came to know about this. “I have chosen the path of jihad and I know very well about the hardships and fruits of this path.”

The British used aerial bombardment and the Americans use their drones. What is clear is that these people do not submit to any form of intimidation or force, and they never will. It would be unwise for Pakistan to hunt down the Haqqanis at the request of the US."
