Najib and this General Karami reasons for not attacking Pakistan is because both lacked the resources and organization to directly challenge Pakistan. The pashtuns of Pakistan hasnt wanted want to join Afghanistan since the Afghans were kicked out by the Panjabi Sihks from the Peshawar valley with the assistance of Pashtuns from the Peshawar valley. They feel they are better off with Panjabi than with the afghans. They can only feel better off with the Afghans if the Afghans get their house in order. In the meantime if the KP pashtuns have differences with Panjab, then they will resolve it with Panjab and they are using the Afghans as leverage with Panjab for their own interests. If they really want to join, they easily can but they dont want to.

The Pashtuns of Pakistan are suffering from nothing but are thinking about who best serves their interests and today Pakistan does. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was a blessing to them. They easily used that leverage to advance their own interests within Pakistan. Everything that was done to Afghanistan was done through the pashtuns of KP. The Panjabis could have done nothing with out KP pashtuns cooperation.
All this "slave of panjab" talk is BS. They were in bed with Panjab to destroy Afghanistan. They did this so Pashtun power and influence can for the first time shift from Afghanistan to KP.

forget this persian this and panjabized that. I speak neither languages. I have not heard wali azam khan supporting the sihks since he was at war with them but the sihks did get support from pashtun tribesmen that were loyal to shah shuja who was the English puppet. But on a grander scale the Durranis were at war with the Sihks.

King Rahman khan was the first one that realized that the pashtunistan issue was a lost cause. If the KP Pashtuns dont want to join why should Afghans push it. If KP pashtuns had any desire to join Afghanistan, the Durand line would have never existed in the first place.
Look at Germany there divided line lasted 50 years that was enforced by two superpowers. When one superpower fell, the line naturally disappeared because the people wanted to be one. I am sad to say pashtuns dont have that desire, yet anyways.
