Can members give their opinion of this man? I hear bad things about him online, but I know a lot of Afghans who avid supporters. I mention the secret police and how he participated in torturing Afghans, and they say it's all Pakistani propaganda.

What's the truth?

the Truth is, saying "Pakistani Propaganda" is a scapegoat tactic; the Russians themselves and other independent sources confirm his actions. Many supporters or apologists attempt at either outright denial or "downplay". in which try to soften reality by saying "well he wasn't as bad as the Mujahideen's actions during the civil war. But in terms of raw numbers Najibullah is alleged to have been responsible for a total of 100,000 deaths by himself, the Mujahideen allegedly killed 50,000 people collectively during the civil war. If we use that as a scale we can see who posed the greatest danger to Afghans.

Najib's death is worthy of celebration even if Shaitan himself ordered it.

but actually it was Mullah Muhammad Rabbani who ordered Najib's execution, and such a gracious and honorable man is certainly no Shaitan.

he was a mass murderer who's execution was one of the few good things the taliban did.

his supporters are no different than anyone else who supports a misguided and evil cause out of pride. people will praise comrade najib speeches because he speaks directly against pakistan while turning a blind eye to the russian occupation and 1 million plus dead afghans. on the other side of the coin, hardcore talib supporters will turn a blind eye to pakistans hand in the movement and the civilian casualties they cause.

Afghans and communism doesn't work well. But i would choose the communists over the current leaders. They did not buy villas in Dubai, all the communist leaders I know lives like all the other ordinary Afghans.

The Communists would set up their own secret police. They would torture en masse. They would most definately also be corrupt. The current government is terrible but nothing compared to what it would be if it was Communist.

My own grandfather was literally tortured to death by Communists as were many many other Afghans.
