Men and women are equal, but that doesnt mean they are the same.

A topless man exposing his chest is not the same as a women exposing her breasts (even in a bra/bikini)

The chest of a woman is seen as something sexual, the rear of a woman is also seen as something sexual, so we cover up differently.

we are not living in the jungles of New Guinea, we have different morals and understanding here, however even they realize these morals on a primitive level which is why direct sexual organs are covered (even in such an animalistic society they see certain body parts something to be shameful about flaunting).

Its illogical to put the same dress sense on a female and same on a male unless ovcourse to you showing your breast is the same as showing a mans chest

    • It matters not what he is or however he identifies himself which is very confusing.

What clear is his pathetic attempt to go against the wishes of all the Afghan people, and their rejection of foreigners.

        • So non of the respected people are dangerous to us unless we are threatened by them directly. They are both great people to admire and respect, which we Pashtuns do both in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

            ghundal,

It is not a matter of identifying himself, Spanta is a Barakzai Pashtun. He could turn around and say the same about you. And even as our head of national security council kindly tell you that you are from Pakistan and what goes on in Afghanistan or his background as Barakzai Pashtun should not be a matter of concern for you? What then?

Spanta is a good man and highly repsected in Afghanistan, and he hates your country too. j/k

gulfnews : Exit Abdullah, enter Spanta

Equally, Karzai's new foreign minister Rangeen Spanta neither a Tajik nor a Pashtun has big shoes to fill. The multilingual, former political science professor from Herat, educated in Turkey and Germany, has already guided Karzai through a difficult year.

At end of the day, it doesn't matter what he is, he like everyone else is an expat who has linked himself with foreign aggressors- and thats where all credibility is lost.

              • Spanta is a great Afghan.

The thread however is a joke and only bring us bad publicity and feeling. The blame lays squarely on Pashtuns themselves.

The author of the thread mentions the multiple Dari tv channels as if they were and if its establishment was on the cost of Pashtuns. Well it is not if we pull our heads out of the sand. These people are more organised and active than us, and we could do the same to establish our own media platforms. You would be surprised, many of them are actually sponsored by donors, or either by rich individuals. How many Pashtuns have sought to either extract funds from many organisation who would be willing to porvde the same funds and how many [mofo'ers] rich Pashutns are willing to to do the same? But there is also a concern of foreign entities sponsoring and assisting non-Pashtuns within our civil-society. May be this legitimately concerns some Pashtuns.

He goes on the to give us example of print media etc. It is the same. Although there is plethora of Pashtu print media that is in mass circulation in Afghanistan. In electronic media, there is enough; internet is very resouceful with Pashtu websites and content in general, so is radio in Afghanistan, only in tv we are lagging abit in my honest opinion. Shamshad, I used to enjoy but it does not really meet my taste and there is too much of the Nazia Iqbal flavour in it now. It is politically passive too in its broadcasting, style and content. Tolo News is balanced with both languages, but what it propagates can be an issue concers as it is bias and distorted to the max. The many other tv channels also has alot of Pashtu air time. The national state owned tv is Pashtu heavy. Now there are a few channels to be airing soon to my knowledge, which in addition to be being braodcasted in Pashtu I hope it can produce independent Pashtun perspective. What we need is indepdent media coverage than anything. Quantity is important than quality. I am grateful for those who are putting effort and have invested one way or the other in our own home PF (Pashtuforums).

As for the anti--Pashtun rhetoric and tone in some Dari NA/Setami slanted publications, well it is all becoming too insipid for the very die-hard followers of those publications and they look for something worthy than fascism. I agree with the example of papers such as Mandigar and Jawidaan website etc. and their rhetorics. Who cares you worry too much. Let the dogs bark.

He first and foremost should be a true Afghan from Afghanistan above what fate made his ethnicity to be, which I am nevertheless proud to say that he is a another gifted Barakzai Pashtun. I know this first hand, ghundaala.

He has not allied himself with no other than his own country and his people. Spanta is a great guy, and we Afghans love him how you love Ashfaq Kyani. I must admit I do not agree with him always, or his slightly leftist views sometime. But I think above any ideology he is more loyal to his beloved Afghanistan's interests, like me beside the point that I am Talib. Please stop badmouthing Spanta, you are hurting our feelings. We do not say that about personalities within your country's establishment.

See that's a straw man; we're not nor have we ever claimed the human form is degrading. it's the context in which it's displayed in that becomes degrading.

as for the Guineans, Australians, Americans; you're morally degenerate so that's why it seems acceptable.

                    • If it is true that Afghans love him, how come he can't go the rural areas without a US security detail? How come he just sits in Kabul like the rest of them?

“In general, people in Afghanistan are against foreign forces,” Mullah Lodin, the negotiator, said. “I don’t think the loya jirga will ever support foreign forces in the country.”

Mr. Spanta recognized the difficulty. “We have to convince the Afghan people there is something for us in this,” he said.

                      A Talib? LOL

                      • Beucase it is dangerous, high profile officials should be catious and not venture in to the countryside. It is a dangerous environment in Afghanistan, he should not be irresponsible so that it cast him his life and hence be a loss to Afghanistan.

                        • ghundala,
I am a Talib, known famously as Mullah Rocketi. I shot a rocket aiming at the Russian copter while ridding a motorbike and blown it to pieces. But now I have joined hands with Spanta to bring peace to my country, while the rest of ex colleagues eat dhaal in Quetta, Karachi, Abottabad, I eat chargaan and Qabili Palaw come times 4 times a day. It is fantastic.
