look at what happened to mubarak, no one had to fire a gun at his regime for it to fall. time and place, its the difference between a successful revolution and maybe a blurb on wikipedia about a failed uprising.
While what your saying is true. If there are mass non violent demonstrations against a government, the government sometimes fears it because if they use force against their own people, the military sometimes refuses to take such orders and also their is a fear the military might split up and create civil war.
When mubarak stepped down, the military forced him out because their was a fear of a split of loyalty in military officers.

exactly, its not because a government thinks these people will just sit around and do nothing forever. loyalties will be tested, economies will be stalled, there will be pressure from outside the country, and anti regime elements will grow nuts.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

it's a fact Gandhi was a bit racist. Not too unusual for such overt racism at that time though.
