the streets and buildings look so old and depressing that if i were to show you pictures of stores or markets in kabul and the capital city of india, you won't believe that kabul is the city that has suffered from war all these years. so many times i have been terrified of the way a building looked from outside because i thought i was in a totally different part of the city than where i was supposed to be because i would not book a hotel room in a place looking that beaten. from inside, everything looks nice and fancy but no one would expect that by just looking from outside the building. you have these fancy malls that make you feel like you are in the west but then you come outside and everything looks just depressing. the rural areas are less crowded, more clean and cost of living is higher too but the cities are a mess.
my memories of peshawar and rawalpindi are from my younger days but i went to islamabad in 2010. i went to sadar bazar of peshawar in 2010 as well and i loved how full of life that market looked.
