OMG OMG that's my all time favorite, I love it even more than the name "Mayana" itself

Long long ago, in a land of peace and prosperity, there lived a girl who was the happiness and right hand of her Brother, and to her, her Brother became her happiness, her every joy, her success, her backbone, her laughter, her smiles, her reason to wake up, her everything she ever imagined. She couldn't say the words Lala as a girl, and one of her first few words was Awa (Lala) to her dearest Brother who grew her up in his warm and comforting arms, who showed her the way in every walk of life. That Awa became Awey, and that Awey was a nick name they both used for each other. When she first migrated to Australia, she made a little song for herself, for her brother, and till today, her expression in poetry for her brother remains. She said: Awey bina hain, Mesbah akela (masculine, I know, but that too had a reason). It was a long song she would sing everyday until he arrived from Pakistan. She fell sick many times in his absence, for him, after him. He is her pride, and her attachment to him has no match.

(I am still trying to figure out which emoto to put in)

Yeah, I'm addressed at home by my first name and many different variations of it lol Sometimes they call me Mayana too!

My cousins sometimes call me [My first name] Ballah
My mother has many nicknames from me. She laughs at almost every one of them. You should hear what she calls me, they're hilarious, but I wouldn't mention them

Wow, they call you Mayana, sweet!

I know!!!!!!! Nazawalay is the cutest nickname there is, along with Nawaki.

When someone calls me Nazawalay I go:
I'll introduce this to my sons, so they can call their wives that =D

You ask the Afghan couples that

I've heard a few that make me cringe, some make me laugh, and some, I am like but why.

LOL My cousin's wife 'til this day insists that it is haram to call your husband by his actual name. I have two cousins that are called Shireen Agha by their wives, it's super cute. But most of the time, they're "day, da Halako Plaar, daa, da Halako Moor, Shaza, Sarayya" etc. lol Nicknames are sweet. I love nicknames.

LOL because they are too ashamed of addressing him by his name... or even his nickname.. It's like tsa kayeh, da Merra Num wali akhleh?!

It's kind of sad though, I wouldn't be able to do that =/

I wouldn't be able to refer to my husband as "day" or "da halako plaar" instead of calling him by his name or his 75 nicknames lol

The 'ay, tase ta wayema' is a bit disturbing among couples.

                              ahahaha! Jokes!

But it is the same when it comes to calling your children isn't it. Like my sisters don't give (so much) naaz to their children around my parents. Weird, I know, but that is how it is unfortunately among some.

Yeah, I know a girl who kissed her child at a melmastia in front of people and she got yelled at for doing so by her mother-in-law. Poor girl.. =/
