I'm guessing majority of the afghan users here are dark skinned...

I have specks of blonde in my beard. Like actual blonde. It never ceases to amaze me. I only discovered it recently, because I would normally be clean shaven. It's so anomolous.
If you spend a few days in the sun in pakistan you will start looking dark anyway, Geographic location has a big say in skin colour ever wondered why kunari pashtuns are so fair because it's hardly sunny there unless your telling me the darker nangraharis who are just down the road from kunar are a different genetic stock, which they obviously are not.

I'm not disagreeing about why it happens. Ofcourse in regions where 50 Celcius is normal summer, there will be people with melanin in their skin. Nothing wrong with it.

It's just that in Pakistan, at least, the biggest differentiating factor (among many, to be fair) between pashtun and the others is essentially looks. The stereotype is that pashtuns have fairer skin. This is enough reason for some pashtuns with actual fair skin to be ethnocentric. Hence my surprise at how few people actually talk about this (especially now vs 6 months ago).

fair skin is overrated, what sets pashtuns apart from indics are sharp features, high cheekbones, hawkish eyes, aqualine nose and oblong facial structure, met many poonjabies with fair skin but they have round facial features which are unsymmetrical.

Yes, this is also true. But those features are easy to miss if you gain weight.

I don't think fair skin is overrated. If we were European, then yes. But considering we're in a region where black skin is normal, fair skin not only looks more alluring, but is also more rare.

Anyone else here that gets specks of blonde in their stubble? Would appreciate it if someone with knowledge of DNA can explain this phenomena. I know colored eyes and hair are recessive. But how is it that I have black hair, yet I see specks of blonde in my stubble? Not brown/light brown. Actual blonde. It kinda freaks me out.

True point obesity is no longer a first world problem, I have noticed many urban pashtuns in Pakistan putting on weight, village pashtuns are lean and preserve their looks.

Thank you for taking the initiative.I agree with you.But frankly, I don't think its going to change much because we have some members here who it seems are for the sole purpose to initiate such racist discussions .
I started a thread about one month ago asking members to put an end to Pak-Afghan rivalry and fighting. Some of the more neutral members here supported my view but as a whole , I can't see any change so far.

For the doubters (will remove the pic later). It's just pitch black hair, and then straight to blonde. Pretty cool. Really freaks me out though...

I find that people who talk about race/skin color/blah blah are usually failures in life who have not obtained an education and in general having left to show for this life so they hold onto some notion of their identity to compensate for what is lacking.

Racism is the biggest sign of not only ignorance but a major inferiority complex. You have to wonder why someone dwells on something so much? Maybe they are not happy with who they are?

Having a little ginger and blond in one's beard is normal among Pashtuns. The genetics of it is that hair color is a trait that is coded for by multiple genes. You are right that light hair is recessive but sometimes you could have one blond allele somewhere in your gene code and it could show up somewhere unexpected like your beard.

It's definitely overrated, it's not like fair skin provides any privilege to those who have it. In India, sure, but in Pakistan the group with the fairest skin (outside small minorities in the north) are also stereotyped as stupid and are the butt of many jokes.

Most Afghans have no issue with Skin color, Afghans are generally Light skinned people, and some of us can tan, its just this Forum got bombarded with Indic trolls and some Posters decided to let out their frustration by talking bad about the appearance of trolls who happened to be of the Apu Nahasapamipetilon race...

You will hardly see any racism towards Blacks, for example, on this forum...

I guess you're not from Pakistan. Yes there are pathan jokes. But you're much more likely to be made fun of for being kaala. Its akin to the word inferior.

Afghans are kinda weird. In Pakistan, where normal pashtuns live, the skin thing is a stereotype we use to differentiate between us and the rest.

                              Don't think I suggested otherwise?

Lol, that's because in Pakistan Pashtuns are seen as light skinned as other Indics are slightly darker. In Afghanistan you can say Pashtuns are seen as dark skinned and others are even lighter than Pashtuns so we don't stand out.

Among Pashtuns tanned skinned is preferred for men and lighf skin for women. That's why in songz you will hear ghanam rang alak aw speena jinai.
