Whether he did it at 14 or 40; the Death penalty is barbaric and cruel. It is also laden with hypocrisy.

Maybe he deserves prison for his actions ...maybe but the death penalty needs to be opposed.

Of course, killing killers is not the answer. I don't see how it helps anyone.

He killed a child so he deserves the death penalty. There is no excuse for a crime, especially if it was taking the life of a small child and executing him is a way of justice for his family and a warning for future murders not to kill people not to mention these ****bags won't get free in society again.

Can't believe some of you people are this naive that you want to save a criminal.

People who advocate the death penalty are mentally ill and bloodthirsty.

If the death penalty actually stopped murders then MAYBE you could argue that it serves a role. But no, time and time again there has been no strong evidence correlating capital punishment with lower crimes. In fact the death penalty may even incentivize murder...because criminals think "Well what do I have to lose?"

It doesn't; it doesn't deter crime, it doesn't reform other murderers. It's an outdated method which fails to address real sources of the problem.

Forget the fact that studies regularly show that the death penalty does not reduce the incidence of violent crime anywhere, do you honestly think that people should be killed for what they did as children?

Lock them up for the rest of their lives. Regarding Shafqat, though, he wasn't even an adult when he was convicted. Plus, he confessed after being tortured.

A 14 year old being raped and tortured; why would they need to RAPE or TORTURE someone for a confession? What kind of law enforcement is that?

I swear Pakistani Police must base their training manuals on watching Lethal Weapon 4 or something.
