^well u see... i don't find anything in common with a pashtun that is sold to panjabi or any other afghanistan enemy....

on that note... many afghans migrated to peshawar and surrounding areas from afghanistan thinking that they are going to their pashtun brothers for acceptance, but rather than acceptance and love they were subjected to dragatory terms like muhajir , gilam jam and many other names. this is just one example i don't wanna go into details...

ethnic pashtoon make a huge number of pakistani army, navy, airforce, police... they are very patriot pakistani and for someone like me (afghan) they are my enemy. they work against afghanistan's and afghan's interest. they support pakistani government and its policies.. which mostly stands against afghan's.

i find myself more in common with a tajik, hazara, from afghanistan, than with a pashtoon from pakistan that is only pashtoon by name and is panjabi wanna be ...

Feroza_Banu, you make a very good observation there. Those Pashtuns have taken both the interests and enemies of the Pakistani elite as their own. We had no beef with the Indians, only the Urdu-speakers and Punjabis had enmities with them after the partition massacres but Pashtuns willingly became enemies with India. Similarly, it was in the Pakistani elite's interest to recognize the Durrand and again, many Pashtuns took it upon themselves to defend the agenda of foreigners over their own people - the example of this creed is very much present on this message-board.

However, feroza_banu, you must understand that a lot of these Pashtuns have been brought up with Pakistaniyat embedded in them. They don't know their own history, they don't know the other side. They form their opinions in ignorance. As for the people working against Afghanistan, there's always something in it for them. A military career in Pakistan is more rewarding (materially and otherwise) than one in the USA or the UK. Who wouldn't want that? I'm not saying they're right but that's just how it is here.....
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

        aslam o alaikum
        thank you for your post.
I am not blaming them for it. I was talking about this with someone else the other day, that its not their fault they are born and brought up there and most of them are ignorant to this fact that they are working against their own people. I am simply stating a fact about how i feel about this whole brotherhood idea between pashtoons from both sides of the durand line.

I would also like to point out that the high rank positions and career opportunities offered to ethnic pashtoons without any obstacle is also a strategy to keep pashtoons loyal to pakistani government. it is like feeding a kid with as much candy as he desires to keep him under control. again i am not blaming them for taking up these positions in army, i am just saying under these circumstances, the idea of one pashtoon and brotherhood is just too good to be true

^ Well, it's really far away but for me, it's never too good to be true!

may be you are right at ur side…but as far I know from my less knowledge that khayber-pukhton khwa ..ppls of pride Pushton afghan .. well-comed them with heartly wishes and allow them to stay within their family and accept them at any cause ..
As far concerns to our country Pakistan .. that’ is another issue (definatly any country will demand for their best) .. but in other hand our refugee brothers from Afghanistan got the same rights in our society as any other pushtun.

^Swat: a pashtoon from swat or pekhawar might be a patriot pakistani, someone who backs and supports pakistani agenda against afghans... this brings a huge gap between me and that person.

u see... afghans don't come only in pashtoon form... ...

afghans are tajik, hazara, uzbak, pashayee, noristani, sikh and many more.

if u respect and love afghans you should be able to take any afghan citizen to dinner or coffe and shoot anyone who points finger at that person... (not that i really want u to shoot anyone, but just sayin)

the beauty of afghanistan is in having all different ethnic groups that live there... its a melting post of different culture... all very beautiful !

wrong.... the term afghan was only granted very recently 2 those ethnicities you mentioned and then only on a nationality basis... pashtuns are ethnic afghans those grps are nationality afghans.... One cld say the same abt pakistan for pakistani is only a nationality term... BTW I dnt support pakistan!
