  • This whole honor business has been discussed here. Stick to the topic. If you don't wanna say how many sisters you have, don't. No one asked you! You're only asked how many siblings you got. And you're NOT forced to answer.

    But I MUST add ... it's the intention we should be noting, not the question. If it was specific to a particular sister or sisters, only then should we take our "guns" out. Geez, we sisters of yours exist, whether you like it or not. Get over it, or live with it. Gone are the days when you had to feel sad when we were born and then hide us from the world just because we carry the burden of your "honor" and were accused of things we didn't even do while the actual criminals were left alone.

    Everyone takes things differently, and just as some of us find it offensive for someone to ask how many siblings we have, I find it offensive that someone thinks sisters must never be asked about -- while brothers are always asked about by females. (That's to say, there are no discussions on whether anyone minds when their brothers are discussed, but a few sensitive folks mind when someone asks them how many sisters they have!)

      sisters are not pimples that you hide their existence... had some random na mahram guy one asked you their age.. names hobbies or interests, you could said you are offended and you would have every right as a brother or family member to be protective..
      but to say "i am not going to tell any one if i do or do not have a sister because it's a pashtun's way of things"... i am sorry...
      a
      you are just being paranoid and absurd..
      b
      it's not a pashtun's way of things because there are those of us who don't follow such demented narrow mindedness and no way in hell would we allow any one to slap us in the face with such illogical claims of pashtunwali and exclude us our title as pashtuns.
      Bless your heart for saying this! Finally.

        If anything, I think you guys have misunderstood what was being discussed, because none of these points address what was being spoken of earlier in an exchange between some members (including myself).

          Mesbah Jaan, my response was to those who claimed that Pukhtuns don't ask or answer how many sisters they have, or don't talk about their sisters in public. I stand by my words: This is about siblings, not specific to sisters or brothers. No one's required to answer, and not all of us are obligated to live by the standards of others.

          • We are 4 brothers and 3 sisters. (Of course not counting a sister and two brothers who died even before I was born. All together 10.)

            So long as the world endures;
            So long as there is life in the world;
            So long as a single Afghan breathes;
            There will be this Afghanistan.
            Long live the Afghan nation.
            Long live the Republic.

              Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

              A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

              For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

              The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

                  Come on my beloved pashtoons..
                  My question was about siblings not sisters
                  I am myself a pashton and i know how mad we get when someone ask us whether we have a sister or not

                  I will again repeat my question

                  How many siblings do you have?
                  I am asking this just to know whether pashtons still love to have many kids or not ..

                  Da kho eis ghata khabara nada chei da chana tapos wokai chei taso tso khwaindai wrona yast .. i am sure that many of you have been asked this question face to face in ur lives.
                  It shows that some pashtons dont like sisters.. is it? if yes then dont forget that our moms are/were sisters of some men .. were those men not pashtons?

                  I fink i should stop myself damn here on da spot n not come up with topix which are disliked by my pashtoons. If i knew that most of you wil think wrong and take the track of topic to someother way, i wouldnt post this topic.. kho khair I apologize for the mistake and will be more careful not to post a topic again

                            Please I encourage all ladies to have at least 5 children. This is very good for us. Educate all 5. We are in dire need of leaders. We need educated people. People help spread the name Pashtun. Have children is our main focus. educated children.
