    A good life:

Happy healthy family living in our own property with little to no financial worries so we can enjoy our time as a family rather than time at work. Keeping family ties strong raising a good family being a good wife and mother. being inspirational while being simple....

i wish nothing more for my life than love of my family, financial stability and health with long lives... with all that i will have a good life...i dont need the newest car/clothes/house...

to have the best life is not to have the best of everything, but i will make the best of what I have...

i dont like to think of death...

For all your talk of Islam, you have failed to recognize the most crucial mission of the prophetic line.

        So be it...

So you are saying that according to a hadith, which is apart of sharia, we are living in a time of fitna. As I understand it during these times there is an absence of morality on earth. These are the times when the people don't even know the Qur'an and only a very few would say that they had heard their parents say Allah. So this time of ignorance is upon us, then who is to say that you aren't ignorant either? So if this is the time of fitna, then how can black be black and white be white...if that were the case, then there wouldn't be fitna, now would there?

So how do you live the good life during times of fitna? Isn't it a logical contradiction?

You don't even know what khalifah is,there is a leader and the land is ruled according to the laws of Allah, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him ) was there but no land was ruled, until the muslims conquerd Makkah Al Mukarama.

This is you that claim that there will be no mentioning of the quran and so on,it is not related to this. The Ulema are agreed that this is the era of Fitnah until Mahdi Muntazir(radiAllahu anh) will come, and this is the last khalifa after this the time of forgetness and fail and so on come, where people will know nothing more than the word La ilha ilAllah , and they will forget the Quran and the Teachings and Allah will take the Quran by letting the knowledgeable die...and so on recorded in the authentic sunnah.

( a small review for you my brother).

Did the Prophet (pbuh) not lived among only disbelievers and kuffar (fitan).

        ?where is the contradiction.

          I thought about this...today.

          What is a good...life?.

          Such simple words...yet so complicated.

Never actually...ever thought about it before.

          For instance..things...listed below.

          If you have...wealth.

The most unhappiest people in the world are...wealthy people.

If you have health..you take it for granted.

If you live in a luxury home...with everything paid for.

          You feel empty...inside.

          Having all family healthy...and well.

You don't realize it...until their gone.

          If your poor...you want wealth.

          You struggle to make...ends meet.

          So i don't know the...answer.
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument.
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness.

No need to make it so complicated. The simplest answer is having good health and be pleased with others and other pleased with you.
Now if you look at other things then there is no end to that because happiness and sadness are infinite.

              You are a bit confusing...

You say you to be with your family, but you already are with your family.
You say you want financial stability, but then you say you make the best of what you have...which doesn't sound like stablity to me

You don't think of death, but I don't think you have thought of what you want do with your life either babygak.

Sure enough you live with people, but how do you live with them? How do you make living with them good? Do you sacrifice your self for them to make them happy? Is that the right thing to do then?

So is a good life wanting death?

Because a good death is wanting that death, and a good life is having what you want...you will most assuredly have death..so it's a matter of just wanting that death. Not sure if you were being poetic...but it sounds suicidal.

What does the aya "Ini Ja3lun fil Ardi Khalifa" mean to you?

You seem to think that because there was no land that belonged to the Prophet peace be upon him, he wasn't a khalifa. This is erraneous logic on your part sir.

To think that Khilafa began with the conquering of Mecca is tantamount to saying that the leadership of the Holy prophet peace be upon him had no validity up until that point.

I don't know why you are becoming bullheaded about this issue.

If you agree that this is the time of jahiliya, then how do you live a life according to Sharia when Sharia isn't even applied on any land?

Wouldn't the good life then be working against Fitna?

Fitna's definition would be tribulation, but as the Sahaba used the word, fitna mainly meant in-fighting. Dispute within the Ummah. Which we have now.

Considering this, how do you live the good life?

No, not having what you want but on the contrary wanting what you have.
wanting that death meaning, when death comes, if you can embrace it and accept it, then thats a good death so this goes back to the definition of a good life because when you have death, you have to want what you have which is that death.
you cant be suicidal because if you want death when you have life then your not apreciating life which is what you have at the time, and you cant be immorata-idal either because if you want life when you have death your not appreciating the end which is what you have at death.......wanting that death when death comes by fate

Everything i thought is a...good life.

Seems temporary, or has... a down side.

                  Not a solid good...life.

                  Whats your view...at the moment?

Good can mean many things... Ronald McDonald says mcdonalds burgers are good for you because that is what he thinks... Dazahroojaam thinks trolling is good... WhereAs trolling is mostly considered bad by others..

In the same sense.. A good life can be a bad life and a bad life can be a good life...

E.g. Dazahroojaam is emo and she thinks she is living a good emo life whereas in reality emos are lonely, sad ..people who hate everyone equally

So I guess... This matter is more subjective..

The Good life is in Jannah for the believers,
and this is a good life for the disbelievers.

                      Dunya sijjunu muslim,jannatul Kafir.

(does not mean that a muslim who has a good life in dunya will have a bad in hereafter, and if a disbeliever has a bad life than he will also have it in akhira if the one does not repent).

In my earlier post regarding good life i gave a Idealistic veiw, but practically it depends on u, how u want to live and what u consider good and bad in your life for example bacteria present in human waste can only survive there it will die in frangrance.
And about good death i was talking about the sufism way to death which means u die for your beloved well before u die physically, which means u will live eternity!

I was expecting for the definition of a good life to be somewhat poetic... Came here with great hopes only to end up reading about bacteria in human waste and fragrance.
I hope you step on something really sharp.

As I said there is no end to wants and needs and so no end to happiness and discontentment but if want a happy life comparatively then I would say the simplest life gives you the best life happiness.
So my answer is the simple life is a very good life. The more you go into wants and extravaganza and greed the more your life becomes uncomfortable.

I sincerely appreciate all your inputs towards my query.

Except for emkhan I believe everyone here has in some way hinted at what the good life is.

Playing the cynic is easy...There is no doubt that we are all tied to others. We have families, loved ones, for whom we want what we want for our selves. This is the simplest axiom of the ethical life - to want for your brother what you want for your self.

The good life, in my opinion, is finding a worthy cause, a good cause and fighting for it despite the odds, despite it's unpopularity, despite the discomforts. Standing up and fighting for a cause that means more than one's life and then dying for it.

We might imagine the good death to be an easy one. Laying in comfort in our bed, with all our loved ones surrounding us, at the end of a long and prosperous century, sighing the last of our breath. In reality, more often than naught, it comes with less dignity as we chock on a fish bone at a restaurant, or drop off from the toilet seat or in the back of an ambulance surrounded by strangers.

The good death is the chosen death that happens in the glory of the battle field of your choosing. Falling for what you believe in. Those who willingly opposed a form of tyranny, or refused to yield to an unethical and inhuman order given to them at the tip of the gun. Maybe that of Sayed Jamulludin who spent his whole life working towards the revival of the ummah. At the end of his life being dragged by the chains around his throat by some unknown guard of some forgotten regime's leader. Or the death of Sayed Qutb who could have easily lived a life of ease and comfort but chose to speak against the dictator...who hung him in the end. The same happened to even the revered Abu hanifa. Their deaths were a statement of their life. What socrates famous was the way he staked his life on his beliefs.

Dying for what you believe, doing what you believe to be your calling in life, that is the good life and the good death.

I am not saying everyone should become a great scholar or a warrior and take up pen or kalshnikov to change the world. The first of those we want to stand up for is our selves, then our families, then our loved ones, and the rest of humanity.

There is purpose in everyone's life, and it goes beyound the psycho dramas of daily life. A mundane life is not worth living at all. At least I don't believe so. I hope to live the good life.

You are young and able, find a way to work towards becoming a force for good...do something for your kinsmen, pashtoons across the boarders. Afghanistan it self. Most afghan youths are caught up in the rat maze of the west. I fear I am caught in it too. I pity myself and them. If you are young set your goals higher. We all know what the good is.

                                My humble melancholy rant :]
