What ethnicity or nation do people think you are from?

Arab for the most part.(They never guess my dads egyptian they assume that the top of Africa is arab (which is true for the most part)

I've gotten Latino, Iranian, Pakistani, Indian (from india), Afghan (suprisingly alot by ignorant americans), Spaniard, Italian on the odd occasion, Turkish, and just any race that pretty much and race that has darker brown skin.

Yeah the super super white pashtuns are really rare haha, but most Pashtuns typically look like your average south Asian in my opinion.

Pashtuns don't look like south asian on average, what do you mean by south asian?


If you mean Northwest South Asians like Punjabi people, then your partly true as Punjabis have some racial affinity with Pashtuns due Punjabis or Jats being Europid nomads who mixed with the indegenous peoples when they arrived into Punjab, but Pashtuns are less mixed however due Jats and Pashtuns being related, they tend to look alike. But Pashtuns are closer to Tajiks more than Punjabis...

I've never been to Europe sadly, and Waterbear I meant South Asian as in Punjabi, such as Jatt, we share many phyisical features with many Punjabi castes.

In Europe, many Pashtuns could pass off as Southern Europeans (and i'm not sure why Spanish people could tell Killzai is a foreigner), and even the Balkans and, Pashtuns could blend in the with locals. In Northern Europe, that's not the case, If you were in UK, you'd be called a Paki , if your in Netherlands,Belgium or Northern France, they'll think your Arab or Berber, If you were in Germany, they'll think your Turkish, If your in Russia, they'll think your Tajik (The rival race of Pashtuns) or Caucasian (Cacausus mountains, countries like Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan as well as Daghestanis, Chechens etc.)



The Gypsie who call themselves Roma (not Romanians, don't mix them up) are supposed to be descended from Northern India, and they're really really dark, so if Pashtuns look like South Asians, then people would call them gypsies as gypsies are also from northern south asia. However anthropologists say Gypsies and Northern Indians like Punjabis have very different genetics since Gypsies lack those good looking characteristics Punjabis have, so their origin probably stems from southern indians or those of the untouchable caste.


A huge portion of Tajiks, Pashtuns and Punjabis have a common descent from putative nomadic people from Scythia...... Punjabis are only 100 million of the 1.2 billion people in the indian subcontinent ? So how does the term South Asian consitute only 10% of the entire continent. Not Only Punjabis, but Rajputs are probably from the same stock, the scatter begins from Northwest South Asia and becomes less if you go to Bengal (eastern south asia) or South India.

BTW, I saw a Masseed Pashtun with long hair, i thought he was native american who are probably the only people who still grow their hair long in the place i'm living now, because not many cultures grow their hair long anymore if they're male :/

even most (jatts) to be honest look plain (indic) the only difference is that they are a bit taller and well build on average. Even if they originally were related to Scythians, clearly that was so long ago that they have totally lost their looks. Among the Indic groups, the northern (Gujjars) from Azad Kashmir seem to resemble Pashtun the most, but even they would be 50/50. I agree that the generic Pashtun will clearly not look Indian, even Punjabi. I think on average Pashtuns resemble more west asian groups like Iranians and other northern Middle eastern groups

As for Gypsies yeah they were most likely Banjara's who are generally considered low caste, but they have mixed with Europeans over the centuries

more over Romans means white people cause association with the roman empire and how Arabs labelled Europeans....

.... so technically, according to Khushal Khan Khattak, when a white people see's a pashtun, especially those from Pakistan, he must say "Afghan" and only that because Khushal Khan Khattak said Romans know....
