Pashtuns I can recognize from sharp, high noses, long, thin faces, more Caucasoid appearance in general and higher stature. Any person that has traveled to Kabul and then to a Pashtun dominated city like Peshawar or Quetta will tell you people's appearances dramatically change from a majority Tajik population to a Pashtun one.

some tajik look indian to me, i had this friend who i thought was indian, but he turned out to be Tajik/afghan. But some Tajik i have seen totally look arab, so its a mix i guess

Tajiks on a whole seem much more diverse physically, my uncle is married to a Panjshiri and their entire family looks European, whereas my mother's sister in law who is a Tajik from Faryab looks like a run of the mill Hazara.

Actually in Afghnistan Tajiks and Pashtuns are the only two ethnicities who are the closest in look. And Pashtun and Tajiks don't have 1 common look, they are really differce, If I look at my family who are all pashtuns they are also really difrent, some have brown red or even blondish hair whit light colored eyes and some are dark and have black hair and dark eye's. Whith tajiks is the same some are light and some are really dark and look like indian. So I think you can't really say that pashtun look like this and tajiks look like that.
But Punjabis that I have met look just like Indians only some are lighter in skin color.

yes there isnt many difference between pashtun or a tajik. a pashtun could be a tajik and a tajik could be a pashtun. but many tadjiks also have eyes like chinese people in afghanistan( not only hazaras but also etnic tajiks).

Even if some are not very dark ( they usually are ) it is possible to differentiate through skull shape, larger mouth size and wider less higher noses, rounder/flatter faces, also through shorter stature, smaller build, eyes. The questioner asked how we are able to differentiate and I responded.

I actually find that people have labeled things in the opposite; I find Pashtuns tend to be darker and Tajiks lighter and this makes more sense, since Tajiks are sedentary, they tend not to see the sun much, where as Pashtuns are always in the sun which will make them darker.

because pashtuns are always fighting thats why they are always in the sun.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
